  1. Wasn't Stuart Henry one of the first ones?
  2. Nice try. But the PO will not let you touch it until you have paid the duty.
  3. This is part of a major and well known crackdown......Ask yer postie about it, they're getting tired of all the stuff piling up in the PO and customer complaints when their generally modest Amazon purchase or whatever attracts a minimum £11 charge......
  4. Yes played by Colin.....for about 2 weeks.....which is why when it started getting plays a few years later people thought it was a "newie"....
  5. Jees, Northern Noise - this must go down as the worst fanzine of all time......I only bothered with Issue 1 think they were dishing em out at the Casino one night with 12" copies of "Love Hustle" at £1.50 a pop - maybe that was another night - they all blur into one....

  8. ha ha Bananas......I remember it in the 80s......Two gals in hot pants working there.....Phoar!!!
  9. Richard was talking about writing one a year or two back. He asked me for a collectors Top 20 as I recall. But I have not heard any more....Maybe ask him on his website?.....
  10. Good pop music.
  11. I'd probably not leave feedback at all in a circumstance like that.

Only the first handful grey, Also reverted to pink at the end. I think the money ran out.....
  13. Yes a lot John. I think ebay as a source of cheapo 45s has had it's day as far as the non US market is concerned, especially since HMRC started their "crackdown" too.

John Bowden's a nice guy but his interest comes about because his wife was the daughter of the guy that run Golden Crest. Therefore I wouldn't say he has the difinitive word on what happened to Golden Crest groups after they left Golden Crest. Am pretty certain it's the same group, yes they did have some line up changes (nothing unusual there) and Matt Parsons who was at Golden Crest later recorded them on his Sew City label. Perfectly reasonable that they would have a cut a 45 with Bert Berns / Artie Butler etc. early in 65, post Golden Crest and before Sew City (66)....It's just too unlikely to have 2 x groups in NY with such a God damn awful name....
  15. Alston's have been on a number of colours, as pumkinseed says. usually green in this period but they were just pressing up additional runs to meet demand so I'd class a red as an original too.
  16. Cor blimey Wiggy. When's the next date of this venue please???, We can't wait to get along.....2 x Paul (W)Ankas....OOTP bootlegs.....Bob Nohair, all on the same night? Right in the groove man, Right on now!
  17. I actually think the Europeans have broadly got it right. So much of the "UK scene" these days is a feckin embarrasment for many of us.

The "Ray" was Raymond Berry. I think he might be mistaken on Glenda though.

It does but remember that Bang was set up by Bert Berns and the Atlantic folks, and the article mentions Atlantic. It's a small jump, but it would be bizarre if there were two Witches groups from NY tied up with Atlamtic especially when Bert Berns was there.

Not at all Pete, looks like the same lot of dudes to me - Bert Berns connection (the B in Bang), Matt Parsons etc....

Yes my notes indicate that Parsons took over their management, set up Sew City and left Scepter.
  23. Steve G posted a post in a topic in Look At Your Box
Yes probably, might have got the two of them mixed up without my notes to hand. I'll go with Parsons.

I don't know, Sew City was Proctor's label, I guess he must have sold it to BRA.
