I have loved the Cleethorpes Weekender since the very first one and had some great time over the years. Seen some amazing artists and spent a bit of time with some off them, something I'll never forget. It will be a shame if it is the last one but can fully understand and appreciate Ady's reasons. The scene is doing its very best to bugger itself up with far too many events. Regardless I will be at Cleethorpes in June, will miss the Friday unfortunately but will be there Saturday morning and will celebrate and remember the previous 25 events! -
The Chairmen Of The Board, one off Soul Music's all time great recording acts return to the studio to record "All I Need Is You Tonight". Written and produced by Mervin & Melvin Steals (of the Four Perfections) and arranged by the legendary Detroit McKinley Jackson, the track is available to download under the three's own label MoPhilly at iTunes and other outlets. With one of Soul Music's all-time great group names, the Chairmen of the Board has pleased music lovers for over 30 years. Formed in Detroit , the Chairmen were one of the first acts signed by songwriting legends Holland/Dozier/Holland for their Invictus label following H/D/H's messy divorce from Motown. The group came out of the box strong in 1970 with the wonderful "Give Me Just A Little More Time," a classic early 70's radio smash highlighted by lead singer General Johnson's emotive, plaintive vocals. "Give Me" was the foundation of the group's excellent debut album, which also featured the infectious "(You've Got Me) Dangling on a String,". Over the years, the Chairmen of the Board General Johnson, Danny Woods and Ken Knox were among Soul Music's most consistent hitmakers, scoring big with "Pay to the Piper," "Finders Keepers," "Chairman of the Board," and the blissful "Everything's Tuesday."." Carolina Girls " On the Beach". The Chairmen continued to record with moderate success, scoring a surprise hit in Europe in the early 2000's with the joyous "Bless Your Heart," a great tune and performance that sounds like it was plucked from their early 70s catalog. Group leader General Johnson died on October 13, 2010 at age 67. At the request of General Johnson to keep the group's legacy strong , 40 year member Ken Knox continues to lead the group touring with new members Thomas Hunter and Brandon Stevens and a 6 piece backing band known as The Executives. Two years later, Swiffer Jet used the group's timeless hit "Give me just a Little More Time" in a popular commercial for the company. The Group also released their first single post General Johnson" YOU" to an enthusiastic Fan Base stateside and across the pond. In 2015, the group scored a # 5 record on the UK Soul Charts with " Reach Out 2 Me" written by Thomas Hunter, Ken Knox with Production from famed UK Producer Nigel Lowis. The past few years, The NFL Carolina Panthers have featured the group in video singing the teams theme song and a Half Time Performance. The Carolina Panthers continues to play their music during home games. Chairmen of the Board are members of the North and South Carolina Music Hall of Famè. Even though it is as younsay a UK original I still consider it a reissue as it was done because of the demand on the scene, if I couldn't play the Lp then I wouldn't play it.

I was probably referring to the Blue Sharks but non the less, Bobby Hutton on ABC is an original UK relesse. What credibility it has amongst Djs and collectors is a different matter.

It was turned up in the early 90s, 91 or 92. Tim Brown I tjink sold it to Rob Marriott who I think sold it to Mark Wilson in Scotland not long after. Long before CSC.

Far too many seem to care about their public persona amongst fellow venue goers and the wider public. They seem to clamour some sort of credibility and want everyone to know what they are doing, where they are going etc and seem to miss the point that this was what we strove to avoid. I personally didn't want my divvy mates knowing what I was doing on any given weekend. Now the scene is full of divvy soulies, all too happy to dumb down the scene and let all and sundry know what is happening. It is plastered all over social media, superstar soulies in their own lunchtime who in reality have done fcuk all for the svene except take from it what they can.

I wouldn't go as far as divs but many certainly miss the whole point of the scene and all-nighters. The social aspect that has taken over the soul night is creeping into nighters. Far too many don't seem to care about the music, it is all far too nice and the edge and attitude you once had has all but disappeared.
