  1. Dunno who was responsible for Patience Valentine? I was playing it late 80's, only paid a few quid for it.
  2. Yes even I start smoking when you are on mate only joking
  3. Big Daddy Rogers been around since at least the 80's. Bud Harper Gary Rushbrooke very late Wigan? Certainly early Stafford etc. AC Reed Guy Hennigan then George Sharp. Mickie Champion a well seasoned oldie. These were just good Northern to most I knew, everyone got on with it. Some grumbled as some always do. The R&B argument really took hold for me when the likes of Charles Sheffield, Ernie Washington and other records that sounded even earlier started getting spins. Most are now accepted on the scene but there are still many who like there soul nice and smooth and not gritty or early. Ass someone said horses for courses. Most know what DJ plays what, if one is known for playing something you don't like avoid the club, go somewhere that will please you. Get on with it, life is too short.
  4. Hung up on what is what!! If it's good it is good, if it's bad it's bad. Just f*cking enjoy the good and go for a natter, p*ss or fag for the bad.
  5. Did Steve Green used to have it?

He was excellent at a sold out Wardrobe in Leeds. They wouldn't let me take my camera in but I did sneak the cam corder in. Not as good as Lee Fields but he is very good.
  10. But what is northern? It is a name given to a scene not a genre of music. Under the umbrella that is Northern Soul just about every type of music is in there and a large part of it is R&B. R&B has been part of the scene since it's roots so to say something isn't northern soul is just ridiculous. The JT Parker track is R&B no one said it isn't but it is also Northern Soul, that's why Ginger Taylor, Des Parker. Ted Massey and not forgetting Andy Dyson have played it at All-nighters.
  11. I haven't had a bad day. Far from it. Just what was the point being made? It was the wrong choice if track because if you read on you will see it went from Northern Scene to mod scene.
  12. Wel said for what, making things up? Getting her facts wrong?
  13. I have a sound-file of Joe Nathune and Crazy, sure it is different to the youtube clip. Will have to dig it out when I get the chance.
  14. I didn't realise we were playing a game? How old are you? You simply made a statement, one you couldn't corroborate because you weren't there, twice, and I simply corrected you. Not out to score points just get the facts right.
  15. You should check your facts. It was Andy Dyson who was playing it at All nighters, Lifeline etc. Mace sneakily saw who it was the rest is history. It was known about before Andy played it as it came from Butch. Des then got a copy and the rest followed, not many mind. So it was Soulies who introduced it first, if Mace hadn't looked what it was it would have been a lot longer before the mods got to hear it.
  16. Northern soul isn't a genre, it is a scene. Its a mash up of whatever seems to work or have worked at some point in the scenes history
  17. Where would we be without the northern scene introducing tunes like JT Parker to the mod scene Do tell which mod had the foresight to introduce this to the soulies?
  18. Thanks Pete. It is in one of the podcasts for Guy already. Post number 205.
  19. The soundfile I have of Joe Nathune is different I think, think it is from an acetate. It could be the slower version but not sure.
  20. I think most copies surfaced via other sources. Pretty rare but more than four copies. At least two had two copies apiece, maybe 3?
  21. Does it matter who had the second highest bid? You both lost
