  1. Hi Simon. Did Pat get Contessa from Guy or Guy from Pat? I've always assumed LCC was "Hey Little Girl, We're In Love". It is on all the recordings I have on tape etc.
  2. Two plays for Pat. The Twans I Need You and Carl Carlton "Pretty Little Girl". What were they? Was Carl Carlton Junior McCants with wrong c/u title? From a review Jock did at the 2 1/2 anniversary.

Hi Dave. Who played the flip at Stafford?
  4. How much is this these days?
  5. What about the pyramid?
  6. To save me typing this out I've nabbed it from Dave Rimmer's wonderful SoulflKindaMusic site.....hope he doesn't mind? In Guy's own words....." The Albanians ", wonderful story about how that came about, that's another one that came from George from Derby as did 'Out Of Sight Loving' as well. The Albanians came to be covered up basically when me, Tim, Claire obviously Margaret and a guy from Clitheroe and old mate of mine and his mate Sag, Brian and his mate cycled over to Corfu and we had arranged to meet (we were on holiday there) and on his way cycled through Benitsit you came to the little resort where me, Margaret Tim end Claire were. He was cycling through this town and who should he see wandering about in the middle of the road( I think as this story goes) with terrorist balaclavas on at about 3 o'clock on an extremely hot midsummer's afternoon in Corfu but Gaz Kellet under the influence, possibly of beer, I don't know, which he couldn't believe because he nearly knocked him over, then when Brian told us who he had seen we actually took off one day down that coast line to try and find out where they were stopping and we got to a place called Khyser Bridge which basically is a place which is over looking and 10 mile across the water from Albania and there behind a hedge just on the aide of the road jud off the coast on the sea line there, who should we see all creeping about kind of thing terrorist style, but some of the Preston Cybermen as they were later to be known, all wearing terrorist type balaclavas from some reason, (never got to the bottom of that) and some of them wearing foreign legion type headgear as well and they me all on holiday and after a day spent with them hence the cover up of the Albanians. Bernie Golding went there as well, Gordon from Preston, they were the lads on tour definitely.
  7. Yes mate I'll post it in a bit.
  8. I'm after pictures and stories of this motley bunch of characters for a forthcoming podcast. I'm sure others who aren't aware or don't know them would love to hear some of the crazy funny antics they got up to. Nighters back then were full of characters and Preston just happened to supply a whole bunch of them.
  9. Both parts of Bub at the Winding Wheel now on Mixcloud. I love the bit where the lights come on and he says I bet you all thought it was the squad or words to that effect. https://www.mixcloud.com/Chalkster/the-mighty-bub-at-the-winding-wheel-august-14th-1987-part-2/
  10. great mid tempo mover, don't hear it these days.

  12. I know you wasn't knocking it mate and understood where you were coming from. I loved my time there and my time with the folk of Barnsley. I would go up friday night if Djing somewhere in Yorkshire as I usually was or Saturday morning and usually stopped at Paul and Ali Barker's. In to Coach and Horses for a drinking and gambling session and onto Tracky, either that or off the train at 6:30 and onto the decks. Top people, top crowd form all over, some great laughs. We would also got to Tracky for a mid week session but we would just stick a tape or LP on and listen to the stories and jokes Bud would tell, happy days
  13. I bet the royals swear as much as anyone behind closed doors Probably, I didn't dare look.
  14. Don't forget though that many in the Tracky, when I started DJing there hadn't heard what I had before. Hal Miller would be another he borrowed which was a big nighter spin at the time.
  15. Grey I think Pete off top of my head.
  16. Dave Raistrick told me that he had a stack of the King George on Midtown and they wouldn't sell and he thought he would be stuck with them. Next thing he knows Keb has covered it up and started playing it and the lot went
  17. You have missed out at least one cd before the Detroit one, it was called Soul On CD surprisingly enough. That was as far as I am aware the very first Northern Soul CD? I have it at home and can scan the cover etc if need be.
  18. He'd get a few out of mine as well, Kurt Harris being one.
  19. I've a recording of Bub at the Winding Wheelin Chesterfield, I will upload it to mixcloud over the weekend.
  20. He used to end with Michael if my memory serves me correctly in honour of his mate who tragically died.
  21. Just checked Kirsty and it was covered as Jock Mitchell. Dunno why on the tape I've got he played it as Gene McDaniels, i'll have to go back and re listen when I get the chance? Pete Lawson sold it to Keb and even Pete says he covers it as JM.
  22. I have Bill Lucas on tape as Gene Mcdaniels. Keb could have used Jock Mitchell as well as he had a habit of covering stuff up with two names. Have him on tape where he does that at least twice in the same set
  23. George has been to Lifeline a couple of times, Cleggy and other places. He DJ'ed at Radcliffe recently. He is on face book and here as Monkey.
