  1. There's a place for everything as long as it is good and isn't out of place on the dancefloor.
  2. Hi, can you please simply amend your first post with sold etc rather than keep bumping the topic with a simple post of such and such sold, it is upsetting other sellers who follow the guidelines. Thanks for your cooperation.
  3. Yes remember it well Kev. It was played by Searling and Gary Rushbrooke first. Leo wright and the elbejays. Think it's the Barons of Soul. Des Parker will confirm.
  4. Unissued prior to this release.
  5. Nordic was Christian Hermansson (not sure if spelt correctly).
  6. We haven't Nev but musically certain parts of mainland Europe and the UK are miles apart. But that depends where you go. I've seen many playlists from various European events with nothing that isn't going on here and just as oldies orientated. Others though, especially the Baltic countries are far more open minded. They don't have the baggage we have and are in general younger so maybe prefer more modern sounding records of 70's and 80's soul and funky soul over 60's, could say the same for the younger audience here. What's happened to Christian Br¸dsj¸e? Not heard from him for a while but he had great taste, a great collection and he DJ'ed for Lifeline at the weekenders.
  7. Can you upload it John? If not I can do it for you of you send me the tape...I'll return of course with a cd copy as well.
  8. Think 300dpi is the industry standard?
  9. Without the likes of Butch and Andy Dyson then it ain't no rare soul weekender. They are the top two rare soul DJ's in this country, no one else comes close in this country. It also wants someone involved who understands the rare soul scene, not someone putting on a side show at a weekender aimed largely at mainstream soulies. It ain't a rare soul weekender if it is stuck in a side room.
  10. Thanks Dave but really no trouble at all.
  11. I found a tape of. Recording of Inky Social but unfortunately it's f*cked, only one or two tracks left but quality ok. I did have another with Nev Wherry on it but can't find hat. I remember the quality wasn't great on that one.
  12. The plant still in operation today..... https://www.urpressing.com/
  13. There is no need to closed any topic. Just leave the personal stuff out. At least one Dj unfairly criticised for playing records he was booked to play, hardly his fault. There is no need to name names as such, that isn't what the topic was about. Stick to the music and the intial topic question please, leave the personal attacks off the topic.
  14. I was at same weekender I think and you are right, some great DJ's in there but no one there to dance or even listen.
  15. Well how would you dance to it? Sway from side to side? The record in question isn't even a mover.
  16. Chalky replied to a post in a topic in Look At Your Box
Probably bit above a beat ballad? Certainly in places. Came out a few times.

  20. I don't disagree with you.
  21. Yes I agree with you Pete. I think plenty spend their time perusing playlists and podcasts etc for ideas for their sets. At the end of the day it matters little how a record was discovered or who has played it (although I like to see credit where credit is due) just the fact if it is good or not.
  22. That was my point Pete, once you have seen both you can clearly tell without the need for matrix deadwax info or the need to have both side by side.
  23. No but what I'm saying is practically every DJ is a collector first and foremost and not a DJ. I agree with you I've seen some with the best box of records some can only dream of owning but they couldn't put a set together for toffee. The vast majority don't have a clue how to work the equipment. Most set ups don't even have a monitor speaker so how on earth you can tell what it sounds like in front of you I will never know.
  24. Influential DJ's are the same on any scene, any genre, not just Northern Soul and the influence of these DJ's has been felt throughout the years of the scene. People have always sought the records of the top DJ's and it takes a top DJ to get it a record to a wider audience. Joe Bloggs at the local miners welfare isn't going to be heard by to many even though he might have a set of unknowns.
