Most records we have a rough idea between us of its value due to years of being around the records, buying selling, going through boxes and lists etc. But at the end of the day whether we like it or not some are willing to go well beyond a records worth to get a copy. Often a simple search would locate one a lot cheaper, recent auctions and records listed on here bear out that point. Yes they maybe lunatics let out on the day of an auctions finish, no we don't like it. And yes there are those out to exploit others almost straight away, those who hike their prices to match a recent auction or to make it look like they are doing someone a favour offer it a little bit cheaper when only a day earlier they had it at a fraction of the price, either way they are still exploiting collectors. But at the end of the day a record is worth only what someone is willing to pay, if some loon wishes to pay two or three times over the odds that that is their business. Rarer records are getting harder to come by, especially those of quality.

Lee Fields went for £700 on one auction or thereabout. Flairs has been on here recently, at least two copies at or around £150 and I don't think they sold straight away, they were later reduced. It shouldn't really be anymore than £80 or so. The days of it being £30 are long gone. Lee Fields seems to be around £250 when listed, again the days of getting this cheap are long gone.

Steve's starts off with JM's auction, there is another about the criteria regarding records for auction. Ah well.......

Isn't this the same topic as Steve's" Anarchy" topic? Seems to be two or three topics moan ing about the price of records?
  9. Used to love the place in the early years. Fantastic record bar, punters etc. Musically it was a step backwards after what had gone before but the crack more than made up for it.
  10. Mark III - Should I Believe You. Covered up at Stafford by Guy as the Prophonics. Obviously the same label but doesn't fit in with the numbering system in R&B Indies, intact I can't see it in R&B Indies.
  11. Here's another piece from Heey Baby, it was too late for inclusion in the book.....
  12. You should be able to read this, it is issue three converted to PDF by Dave Mackey on RSF a few years ago. Blue & Soul 3.pdf
  13. Gilly can you send me the show? I can upload it for other to hear?
  14. Topic closed for the time being. One post removed. John I'm sure Mike will reply with the site's position on this.
  15. topic moved to sales....If you wish to discuss the merits or the price of a record then LATB is fine but leave out the sales pitch.
  16. Thanks Andy for the story behind them and for the scans.
  17. I have the show in my iTunes but I couldn't even pick the stream up through that.
  18. If someone has download this and can let me have a copy I can upload for others to listen to, I've not heard it either as the feed was acting up so would appreciate it uploading somewhere.
  19. Have you any evidence that NS fans don't buy CDs? Or are you just beng mischievous and stirring it? I know many who buy CDs. But that's itsnt the point here, the original question was about the record, it's rarity and price.
  20. It is a record that has suffered with its own rarity. Butch tried it since he got one and never really too off, bit like Phil's experience. Great track though.
  21. I often wonder why pepole use the term holy grail, surely if something is so rare it doesn't need the hype, it will sell itself in this market. If a term like that has to be used it would have to be a record where just the odd copy is known about and not just a popular scene record, IMO of course.
  22. If I get a new 45 box it will be one of those Magma type ones on a trolley, getting too old to carry one around, me arms were dropping off by the time I got to the venue in Skeggy from the hotel other month
  23. Hi mate, I've dropped you a PM.
