  1. I'mpretty much agree again Terry, I like to play and hear dancers and by imagination I mean each DJ having by and large different to the others, most of the main DJ's had a different set at one time. Today many DJ's have the same records.
  2. £213 for Danny Harrison? There was an issue on here few weeks ago for £60. A demo last week I think for £45. A bit of homework and some could save themselves a fortune.
  3. I can remember a time when DJ's all had imagination and sought out a different set to everyone else.
  4. I would think that in this day and age most of us know what any one DJ is known to play and the policy of most venues so I doubt a playlist in the grand scheme of things is going to make much difference. For once I have to agree with Terry, both his posts!!

Sorry Robb should have made it clearer, wasn't referring to any other of the releases. As I believed and as you confirm it is a New York label.
  6. I know a few who won't post a playlist simply because of the above. They feel they are simply doing the hard work for those too lazy to look for records and to support the DJs and venues the lists are from.

I'd agree with what Martin posts and that IPG is a New York label although it has heavy Detroit connections. Harry Starr, Harry & the Keyavas was a New Yorker as far as I am aware. His release has Robert Banks all over it. The Velvelettes is a Jobete recording so probably recorded at Motown. Dont think IPG is anything else to do with Motown though other than the connections with the Velvelettes disc?
  8. Apparently the instrumental was down purely to the Philly musicians, MFSB. Jesse James gave them no credit and no money bar the session fee for it and because of this many of the MFSB then refused to work with Jesse James again.
  9. Satisfactions is usually around £150/£175 when listed.
  10. She was a member of the Cookies then the Raelettes. She became Ray Charles lover and they had a son together.
  11. Buddy Smith, isn't he Charles "Buddy" Smith? Sure I've either read somethng about him or seen him in a video that is to do with Joey Kingfish.

It is Tearra. I can't attach a scan with iPad but a link to one on Popsike here... https://www.popsike.com/MONSTER-MODERN-SOUL-45-TEARRA-JUST-LOVING-YOU-MIDTOWN/310339452854.html
  13. Think the one you saw go Through ebay might have been one of those we know about? It is on another label Andy found that one as well, forget the label name.
  14. Wasn't there one for just over a ton on here not so long ago? About £250 IMO, not as though it is a rare record. Once saw about seven copies in a record room one night.
  15. I actually found the old posts and emails the other day that Elijah posted in the original topic about his record.
  16. Please use the events forum for advertising events not All Aout The Soul. If you have something worthwhile to pass on to members then you could always submit an article. One event topic unapproved.
  17. Most Brits I know call them boots......
  18. Isn't it 25 years after recording that a recording comes into public domain in Belgium and Holland??? I was told that is why some records that are boots were pressed there.
  19. I cannot for the life of me remember who it came from Tony but I don't remember Dennis giving me a recording of Wigan. There was two or three tacks on the tape from Inky Social Club as well.
  20. I did/do know this Pete but I couldn't for the life of me remember yesterday. I will amend when I get the chance. The recording is interesting for Richard trying to sell a second copy of Vickie Baines

I've always championed/played cheap records in my sets, possibly has something to do with me being a Yorkshire man I've had some come up to the decks ask what a record is then the price and when told 20 or 30 quid have returned ten minutes later with a big smile on their face and the record in their hand having been in the record bar and bought one, makes it all worthwhile.
  22. I've listened to Hazel Martin and Paris I would say they are not one and the same, similar voices but that is all IMO. Might be an idea to change the topic title to reflect the topic subject?

Wise words John Far too many nowadays who have to follow the flock rather than do their own thing and too much quality ignored because it is cheap and expensive crap is put up with simply because a DJ can say "look what I've got".
  24. Probably cause you dont seem to listen It shouldn't have to state "Soul" you are on a "Soul" forum. I'm sure there is a forum to discuss the sex pistols somewhere if you so wish.
  25. Yes. It was rumoured to exist for a long time but was never seen until these turned up. It will no doubt exist in the collection of some doowop collector stateside.
