  1. I'm just re-recording Gary Rushbrooke's second podcast for the Stafford Story so I am currently listen on go that, I'm adding a few tracks to this one.
  2. but as far as he is concerned he is playing a pop record from yesteryear, something to get folk out of bed and on the way to work with a smile I guess, don't see why he needs any knowledge and I doubt the cast majority of his listeners want any knowledge from him. Chris Evans not alone in having his playlist drawn up for him I bet most radio DJ's do, those at the top anyway, even Brain Matthews has a researcher.
  3. Well maybe not calling him name but the reply you gave him, wasn't exactly full of praise for him was it, not necessary nor was it needed. Now stick to the topic please!
  4. Like I said if you have no wish to debate with Jock then ignore him and don't get involved. On this topic I personally found little wrong with his two posts and I don't think they warranted the reply you gave him after he answered your question about reality. I also fully understood his "thank god I'm no longer part of the scene" comment or I think I did. Calling names and insults are not really needed, they are not doing the site any good and take the topics down another route simply causing trouble.
  5. Keep the off topic for FreeBasing and not the Soul Forums please. Anymore problems between Kev, Jock and anyone else then take it to PM's. Anymore off topic will be removed.
  6. On Top Of The World - The Stafford Story.
  7. I will pin this topic and ask that members just use the one topic to pass on your seasons greetings to fellow members. And on that note and personally I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and that 2012 brings you everything you wish for in life, have a good 'un
  8. I actually think some are losing a grip on reality when the playing of a UK chart hit from the 70's (and I know it is a 60's record) on the RADIO causes such a fuss. The same when something is played in the background on Corrie...we all know there are some in the show and probably behind the scenes with a connection to the music, the same at Radio 2, the same at channel 4 or 5, the same in other aspects of the media, hardly surprising then that music from the 60s black america find its way into everyday aspects of life.
  9. If you have no wish to enter debate with someone can I suggest you then ignore them and refrain from name calling? If you have to call someone something in response to a posting then please elaborate. Jock maybe highly opinionated but he does plain his opinions, sometimes a little too aggressively for some for which I would ask to be toned down a little if possible. He was asked to explain his use of reality which IMO he did quite well and I for one didn't see anything egotistical in his reply?? There was no need for the response that followed really, not without explanation. All I ask is to stick to the debate in question without the need for insults or name calling or ignore them, or if you do go down that route then expand a little.
  10. It's not a serious show is it? Just a light hearted start to the day on the radio so what do you expect? I really don't understand why folks get worked up about a record that actually saw release (and was actually a top 40 hit) being played on a radio show, or in the background on a TV program?
  11. I agree with you, much prefer to see some class footwork, acrobats great to watch but in the right places. Haven't time for those who simply throw themselves about the place and I stand there wondering what are they dancing to.
  12. If you want a sound file for any of these sales either shout up or e-mail Andy and will sort one out.

  14. Don't think this is about DJing though is it, just collecting??? Or have I misread it somewhere? You see people with plenty of money simply buying big records without researching. You see many simply let others do the work, cheap or expensive then buy the same at first opportunity.
  15. Same Kinda Thing on Twinight by Syl is very good too.
  16. Reuben Wright - You Done Me Wrong - Capitol (Fabulous Northern and has real potential, old Stafford cover up) Willey Wiley - Just Be Glad - King Nightingales - You'er Moving Much Too Fast - Stax (Tommy Tate on lead vocal, say no more)
  17. I have thought about this Bob and years ago knowledge and experience was essential, you had to know what was what or you got ripped off, still the case today to a certain extent but you now have guides, forums like this, boot guides etc that you can get an immediate answer. Topics like the top three cheap as chips most of the info is there for you just need the patience to seek the sound file out, refosoul, youtube etc and away you go. I agree if you are spending big money on big ticket items then you need to be 100% so you need to know what is what. But at the end of the day nothing beats listening, looking, reading and tab hanging when in the record bar.
  18. Neither just took a copy of the scans off ebay.
  19. A record that ticks all the boxes, as you say everyone should own this.
  20. This one...
  21. I disagree to some extent, experience is helpful but not totally necessary, patience and the time to search topics like the one I highlighted (the top 3 cheap as chips) and to go and seek them out and listen is one of the biggest factors you need when record buying. There are plenty of recommendations out there for novices to seek out without needing the experience. Only whilst looking, listening (to both the records and other collectors) and reading do you get the experience.
