  1. got to agree the backing singers sound like a bunch of kids shrieking away, terrible, spoil a good record.
  2. Please just edit your original topic Callum and not reply with "on hold", "updated" etc. Cheers Chalky

I presume you have to leave the feedback on the members profile. Could you not just reply to the post left by soulsunny he posted on your sales topic rather than start another topic and leave another reply on feedback topics? I'll remove one of the posts as no need for two.
  4. We should try and avoid turning this into another oldies vs. newies topic. There are plenty of great nights giving a wide variety of choice for the punters. Sure a few more newer sounds could and should be introduced into sets and insisted upon IMO by promoters, especially at venues that have influence across the scene, just to freshen up a night and sustain interest over a longer period. Young uns/kids are exposed to a massive range of new music all the time and they don't listen to the same top 40 week in week out and I personally don't think the Northern Soul scene should either if it is to continue beyond the ageing body of people that represent the scene now. Good records will remain, crap will soon be dropped but the search for the next good record should always continue. Many many great records waiting to be rediscovered as well. It is the actions of irresponsible promoters and DJ's that are harming the scene and have no thought for the bigger picture or anyone else. It is widely acknowledged that there are too many venues with many clashes which leads to bad blood and resentment, first of all between the promoters and secondly between promoters friends and those they "employ" as DJ's. Yet not one promoter is prepared to do anything about it. Not one promoter when a date they want clashes with another (often long established event) are prepared to look for an alternative date or even cancel their promotion. Too many DJ's turn up an hour or even less for their set and then f*ck off after they've done their set. Some hop between two or three promotions on one night and in the end are not fully committed to either, especially an all-nighter where the DJ should be taking note of what is happening and what is being played, what not to play and what he/she can get away with. At the end of the day too many don't seem to give a sh&t about anything other than themselves. Like others have said I go out and I enjoy myself, I choose carefully where I go now, I no longer have the time spare time I used to have, but this doesn't mean either myself or anyone else should stop caring what is happening on the wider scene and people should be allowed to express their opinions when you can see what is wrong, there is a whole bigger scene out there, not just the world we personally live in.
  5. no worries....screenshot of the address/url bar for anyone still unsure. Highlight and copy the address and paste in the box on feedback.
  6. the URL of the sales page the sale is from.....the address in the bar at the top of the page you are reading.
  7. I don't think I would post abroad now without full insurance, I wouldn't give them the option. I know this doesn't help you and hope you sort this in you favour, her does sound dodgy by not giving any info that might be relevant, local PO for instance. Have you mentioned this to PP?

Same as Brivinyl I've only seen the CD for this? You can get it on iTunes and most other outlets.
  9. Hope he fully recovers from this. His show with Jackie Ross for Dave Box's birthday was fantastic!! Great showman and a proper gent too.
  10. I don't understand the question either Bob.
  11. Ask Lorraine Chandler on her topic in AATS, she might have a list of PP recordings?
  12. Not a discography but have you read the article on Dave Moore's Hitsville site? https://www.hitsvillesoulclubs.com/piedpiperproductions.htm
  13. Link to the article I posited when this book first came out.... https://www.soul-source.co.uk/articles/news-soul/the-soul-discography-r2073 scans of the sample pages there as well. As Dave says it is by artist not label and if researching an artist will be quicker and easier. Not sure if the period it covers is longer, Soul Discography up to 1980 give or take. Not sure what period the R&B Indies covers? Personally think out is a great resource and a welcome addition to my shelves.
  14. There are some sample pages which can be downloaded on the eyeballproductions website. Highly recommend if you like your reference books.
  15. On Riverside. Booted, lookalike label. Original has a matrix stamp in runout.
  16. I've never seen the soul police at a venue? I've never seen (or rarely seen) anyone being judged for how they dance. I don't see chin stroking anoraks at venues forcing their opinion on anyone either, in fact I haven't seen anyone have an opinion forced upon them You say opinions are like arse holes and for the most part they stink. What makes your opinion any different? It's a discussion forum, a place to give your opinion isn't it? Still plenty of energy (despite the ages of some), fun and dancing over here, and not a uniform in sight.

I opened it because I thought it was THE Butch, the Rare Soul DJ Butch. If you'd have put Butch Drage in the topic title I wouldn't have opened it. No harm done, just wasted five minutes of my time with this topic thats all. Who is Butch Drage anyway? Will edit the title.
  18. Chalky replied to a post in a topic in All About the SOUL
I'm actually at home now Nev, was working earlier though. I was surprised to see Butch on the radio when I saw the topic title then opened the topic to see Butch Drage....who? Some clarification needed and if not THE Butch then it is misleading.
  19. who are the DJ's who clear the floor with £5000 records? Too many on here come out with this line yet never back it up with evidence. Same add the quote earlier in the topic "if it's rare it must be good" , another dig at DJ's playing expensive and rare records. Do you know what pretence they were booked under, what they were asked to play, what sort of night is it that is being promoted. It is easy to blame the DJ but 99% of the time it id the fault of the promoter booking the wrong DJ win this happens.

    Who is Butch Drage?
  21. and say what exactly? The house rules can be found at https://www.soul-sour...use-rules-r1879 Now I've just finished a fifteen hour shift at work, I'm back in at 6 in the morning....I'm off to bed shortly. So as the topic seems to have run it's course and it is just petty to and froing I will close the topic for now, if when calmed down I will reopen it if members feel further discussion to be had.
  22. Thats how I saw it Tony, GT the last issued.
  23. Post removed, anymore and will close the topic, seems it has run it's course to me as the payment or non payment of import duty is not being discussed.
  24. Jules, I know there is nothing to hide but in my opinion (and other Mods) it is out of order posting a private conversation without permission, thats why removed. Richard explained above re: PM. No need to PM you. Deleted the insults you asked about, all parties have from what I've read been just as provocative as each other at times. Either stick to the topic, leave the personal stuff off the site or the topic will be closed.
