This isn't a file sharing site other than refosoul which will hopefully be back up and running in the near future. Any other type of request (mp3's) are not permitted as per site rules. Original post edited.

Terry and Lynn, great couple Awesome venue at Prestwich, always a lock out by about 9!!! As Nige says top BBQ's as well Hope they are both well.
  3. Today I received an apology from Tony for comments made on this topic directed at myself. Of course I accepted the apology and made one of my own for any comments I made he may have taken offence at. Both his post and my reply have been removed. As far as we are both concerned that is the end of the matter and we can continue with no animosity or ill feeling towards each other. Tony does have my utmost respect, as a person, for his knowledge and the work he does at Ace/Kent. Chalky
  4. not another double booking HAve a good trip pal, hope it's not a slow boat
  5. Trouble is nowadays Kev with the scene being so fragmented it can take years to break a sound. Some of todays biggies have taken 5 years, over ten in some cases to be trulyy accepted, Johnny Praye, Tommy & Derby's and Sensations spring to mind. Granted you can turn to the stuff you've had for years or known about for years, thats where the knowledge comes in, something the johnny come lately's who throw as much money as possible at it then disappear can' t do.
  6. There's already plenty of nights that do this, it is nothing new.
  7. Think Ady already thrown a clue in the ring as to it's destination this weekend
  8. It would be good if you could get a good balance of everything, for the sake of argument 50% tried and tested, 25% forgotten/underplayed, 25% new & semi known Put together with some imagination and flair by a competent DJ with an ear for a record. No need to spend a fortune there are 100's of great records for less than £50 every bit as good as many 1000 quidders. There is no need whatsoever to employ a DJ with a box of boots, loads out there with the real deal who can do more than a capable job!! Trouble is there are too many promoters scratching each others back.
  9. Not sure how long Andy's had the record Ian. Sure if he's reading he'll comment or I can ask him later.
  10. It's not moved on much at all in many places looking at that list....great list though for back then.
  11. It's not moved on much at all in many places looking at that list....,
  12. Silky Hargreaves - Keep Loving Me Like You Do - Dearborn And the video clip is a wma sound file, same as mp3 which unfortunately aren't allowed.
  13. If someone is genuinely out to rip someone off then I'd have thought comments would be appropriate but as a rule comments discouraged unless a question about the sale (and I don't mean "don''t you think this is over priced" kinda comment). Comments simply lead to trouble as it has proved time and time again.
  14. Dunno haven't thought too much about it to be honest. It will be 60's all the way I think and of the right tempo hopefully
  15. as long as I've been involved with the Mod side Pete comments have been discouraged except for specific questions about a sale item. You get one then you get 20 and as I said it can ruin a potential sale.
  16. I don't know any DJ who has set out to play entirely to himself and clear the floor. I know of many promoters who have book a DJ to play certain records when the records are not suited for the venue, thats hardly the DJ's fault and he's on a loser to start with but the punters never have a go at the promoter, always the DJ who gets it in the neck!!
  17. posts relating to what others think the price should be removed, dunno how many times we have to tell you not to comment on others sales, you wouldn't like if it was your sale that you are potentially spoiling. The price is between the seller and the buyer/potential buyer.
  18. One of the best double siders money can buy (IMO of course).
  19. That was me Pete, got to be strict with the mp3's. But I did find the YT one pretty quick so stuck it in whilst editing.
  20. The emphasis at Lifeline is of course the dance floor, the dance floor rules. You cannot play to collectors on the balcony or in any other record bar and have a successful night. Of course Lifeline puts the emphasis on the lesser known, rarities, £5 to £25,000 but not the stuff you hear at almost every other venue week in week out. We want something different, we want the DJ's to get into their collection and pull out stuff they normally wouldn't but they have to be dance floor orientated, if they don't work well there's not a lot we can do about that, we have at least tried and that is what Lifeline is all about , there's a 1001 other venues that play the same old same tried and trusted Northern Soul. Of course you cannot go for 8 hours with records nobody knows so there has to be a balance and we think we have that balance about right.

  24. I doubt very much you would get me in the midlands doing an oldies set, do the Midlands promoters book anyone these days from outside their patch? Last oldies set I did in the midlands would have been at The Hollingwood Hotel when I was resident, mid 90's!!
