Cecil Washington
this record is always going to sell for top whack! How often does it come up for sale, not very. Add to that the quality and the history of the record. There is always going to be a demand for this. If Gene Toones is worth the £1500 it regularly fetches then this is worth double.

got it in my head it ws Detroit, knew it wasn't the one Ian as talking about. I can vaguely remember Sidney talking about the Jean Carter when he first came over here.

And was Sidney Barnes involved on some capacity?

Info Required On This Detroit Label?
The Jean Carter Sunflower is Detroit. Isn't the lab design a sunflower, yellow petals on dark background. Aren't all the jean carter poor recordings too and only a few hundred pressed because of this?

Fillin The Gaps Charay Records
Thats Martha Starr, I'm on about the other version, the one on the re-issue type lp, Cressa Watson.

Fillin The Gaps Charay Records
I have seen or had a discography that included a listing for Cressa Watson Sweet Temptation although I've never seen one or heard of anyone who has...does it exist (I've not missed it in the listing above have I )

The Moments
I thought it was pretty cheap when you consider how many copies there are. There are plenty records not even in the same league rarity wise that still unbelievably fetch more than this.

Oldies V Newies V Old Newies V New Oldies
it is a rare soul scene regardless what tag is given to it on flyers. Why you come to the assumption you do when you see rare soul advertised I don't know but I know many venues use the rare soul tag rather than northern soul and are not as you assume. [quote name='wiggyflat' date='09 Mar 2010 - 10:08 PM' ti mestamp='1268172531' post='1282286'] Ive looked....some quality stuff and all danceable..Don't suprise me with Sadot though because he can dance.Seems like you are doing the business. Is the playlist constantly changing or are you taking time to get certain tunes into peoples minds.I'm glad I'm not the only one on the same wavelength. This is the sort of stuff the oldies crowd would accept if it was introduced gradually.

Oldies V Newies V Old Newies V New Oldies
but you said just never been played, well it has, for years, make your mind up.

Oldies V Newies V Old Newies V New Oldies
Traditions/Parisians a newie? Do me a favour, it's been played for years. Educate? Why bother, sounds to me like you aren't even interested in listening. Have you tried venues like Lifeline?

Old Footage Travellers Rest Rotherham 1992
I've got some flyers somewhere in the garage I'll have a butchers for them.

Old Footage Travellers Rest Rotherham 1992
Good little venue the Travellers. Was a resident there. Hard to make out the faces on phone at minute will have decent look when I get home. Know I was spinning the track on Frog around then, please come back, but dunno if that was how it has been edited or part of Lesley' s set?

Moving Parts/jimmy Seals
Jimmy Seals was covered up as the Moving Parts back in the 80's. Sounds like a boot the record in question.

Elvis Presley - Soul Music - Viva Las Vegas
he might have been a joke to some but he still had his voice. He was still a great talent even over weight but at the end of the day it was vegas and he was a showman, what vegas is all about. My favourite singer away from soul music. He paved the way for popular music. I've quite a few dvd's of his shows from the 70's including his last ever show.

Old Footage Chesterfield & Rotherham

(The) Words Get Stuck In My Throat
I wouldn't mind hearing the radio interview (or any radio from Yarmuff). I didn't listen to much of the radio back then.

Old Footage Chesterfield & Rotherham
I must have been hiding from camera Rob Never missed a Canklow and DJ'ed there quite a few times. Can't remember the actual dates for the Aqua, but I would have thought 92/93 maybe? Did John Kingan had summat to do with 'em. They were a Sunday night session but didn't last long if I remember rightly. PS I was given a photo of me at the Wilton on Friday from Sept '87 in Mansfield Did you ever manage to find any of me Rob? I've got 3 I think

Garnett Mimms - As Long As I Have You
think there is a UK 45 but its a live version and no where near as good as the LP. The French 45 is the same as the LP.

Patrinell Staten - Little Love Affair B/w I Let A Good Man Go
think these are the ones Patrinell did herself when she heard her record was going down a storm over here.

Popsike Alternative...?
I know all about supply and demand but I would sooner base my assumptions on other facts than often over inflated auction prices. Sure the super rarity you can't predict a price as clearly but for many many records then ebay and JM's auction isn't the best guide to a price. As I said lists, what's happening at all-nighters, the informed views of people on places like here carry more weight for me and has served me well enough over the years.

Popsike Alternative...?
you lot in the city should read some books on economics as well judging by the mess they got the country in....or did you realise that and edit your post accordingly So you say that the odd auction result not matter how inflated the price is the best guide to a records cost and demand? For me the actual shop floor is the best guide of all.
