Keb as far as I know, think he may have got Gary's?. I guess we will never know the full amount found but it was well into three figures, enough has been said about the find in the past. I don't remember Clarkie playing it at all TBH.

It was Richard Searling's "Embers - Playing The Part Of A Fool" cover up at Wigan. Gary Rushbrooke got one shortly after. Keb then played it at Stafford. Few turned up? 100s more like. The finder got the whole remaining stock from the estate of whoever owned the label.
  6. wouldn't mind the LP if anyone has one

err NO! I don't promote anymore or Dj but if I did on the basis of this topic alone I reckon you've blown your chances with me

you wouldn't Dj anywhere I promoted playing them If you can't afford Salvadors or Alfie then play summat else, enough others got the real thing, no wonder this scene is regressing and has become stale and boring.
  9. The kind of venues I attend aren’t usually one where divs frequent. Word of mouth is amongst those I know and trust with a similar outlook to me.
  10. It is generally word of mouth that persuades me to go anywhere. I rarely believe some of the hype promoted today.
  11. I doubt anyone else asks. Just search on line for images. If the owner can be found then ask.
  12. Timi Yuro covered as Cookie Jackson? Are their ears painted on, sound nothing like each other and someone probably uncovered it on first the play.
  13. No Patrice Holloway - Stevie?

  16. They started under the After Dark banner in 1982, I do have the exact date in a spread sheet. I have flyers for 1984 as well and their 10th anniversary bash was there as well.

I believe they did only press vinyl, I just used them as an example, there were others too. Strange if it is a Monarch press there is no MR.

Other companies besides Monarch used the delta numbering system, Alco being one
  21. Last nights show, 23rd June
  22. Like Dave says US and foreign sellers will base their price on recent history, not the Brits. If something sells for 500 they want £1k, £2k they want £3.5k. There is no rhyme or reason to many sales prices and the buyer is falling for it. Either a lack of knowledge, can’t be bothered to do a bit of work or too much money….or all three.
  23. As Frankie C says, I don’t think a comment that gives some sensible discussion or advice can’t harm. Comments relating to 30 or 40 years ago shouldn’t be allowed.
  24. I've been reading that one of Soul and Disco's greatest producers, arrangers, writer and musician has passed away. Anyone into Soul music and indeed Disco will not have been touched by the man's music. R.I.P. Patrick Adams, thank you for the music. https://www.soultracks.com/story-patrick-adams-dies

As the nights begin to draw in (sorry)....On the night of the Summer Solstice I thought I'd put together a mix of some 70s and 80s "Modern" Soul gems whilst filing some Lps away after some recent trips out. All from Lps, they might have come out on 45 also but I don't collect them. All dancers, nothing terribly rare or anything obscure, just some feel good summer soul music. Hope you enjoy.
