  1. New album is now officially released and only a fiver! Good stuff.
  2. Personally love the Bamboos take on Tighten Up (Kay-Dee records)....always a couple on eBay nice n cheap. Kool and the Gang's Chocolate Buttermilk is cool funky inst too, although a bit harder to find. Cheers, Steve
  3. Darn it...only just spotted this so really do hope its possible to listen again. I think some kind soul posted an mp3 of the one Gilly and Nicola did around this time last year?
  4. Vestax Handy Trax for me too. I picked up a black one a couple years ago and just brilliant I think. Heavy with 6 x batteries in mind you! Linking to earlier comments above and other thread on here ("I want two of these" thread, with the recent photos / news of Hip Hop DJ Biz Markie using some superb looking one-off custom 7" Technics SL 700's), here's the clip mentioned which I recall first seeing several years ago showing what the amazing Mark James (AKA the "45 King") can do with a pair of Vestax Handy Trax.... You can see what he's doing from 45 secs in, cutting and mixing two of each same record to create short breaks and loops...Just awesome skill and creativity, even if not much care for the records once off the decks!!
  5. I think straight tone arm better for scratching (so I'm told! Lol). I want one even if I'd barely use it!! C'mon Panasonic/Technics...You know you want to. You surely can't just be content with the living legend that is the "SL", without putting this baby into production!!

  7. I like/use Musicstack and Discogs (generally nice n quick on the ipad but should really be listening when wife is talking to me! lol). Actually prefer buying from established members on here where poss and where prices look okay, also the occasional open box or two at soul nites. Rarely use eBay these days.
  8. Wasn't the Gabin feat Dee Dee Bridgewater "into my soul" also an Italian only 12? Not managed to get hold of one this last few years, so if anyone has one they'd like to sell then please send me a PM. Thanks.
  9. Have lovely pic sleeve Ray Charles "What am I living for" / " Tired of my tears" on Italian Probe...great both sides (originally abc I believe, also German Probe). On the much more modern side, the sublime S-Tone Inc "Time" on Roots (thanks again Brian!) and also Was a Bee feat Mario Bondi "This is what you are" on Schema.
  10. I quite like it...a few lines drawn here and there and some reorganisation of the logos, could be the "periodic table" of soul! Lol

  15. Nice one Tank...I'll be dancing Great to see this thread still going. PLEASE keep it rolling everyone all as I need more great nice n cheap records to hunt down when time allows! I picked up 20 x 45's for the grand total of a fiver the lot last week at a local recycling centre, as I often do ! I won't disclose some of what was in there (I enjoy a variety of music ) but that little pack did include near mint pic sleeve 45's of some of my fave 70's & 80's pop-soul from likes of messrs George Benson, Stevie Wonder, O'Jays, Patrice Rushen, Odyssey, Emotions, Marvin. I don't care if it ain't rare! Just tidying up some records this eve and can't see this gem has been posted up yet. Pretty sure I only paid about £5 for it this or last year... Tyrone Davis - All the waiting is not in vain (Dakar)
  16. I know original post said "soul record" but I think this still passes and a good fiver well spent for dance floor fave I think .... The Nite-Liters - K-Jee
  17. New to me today too after reading your post just now. Love it, thanks, alongside Winstons & other versions. Tempo & backing of the Winstons version is similar to this I think...Abraham & his Sons - Your Mother Understood. Not too off topic I hope!
  18. Great to make some "blind buys" when there's a box or two of cheapies open at a soul night, but even better if someone happens to be standing next to you and says "BUY THAT if you don't know it!!!!".. Decisions - I can't forget about you (Sussex). £5 a couple months ago for mint condition...(Thanks Brian )
  19. Great thread thanks and dozens I don't know...I will enjoy looking some up and hunting down for as cheap as possible over the summer Here's a dozen 70's which I've picked up for a fiver or less each over the last couple years from memory... Four Tops - Just can't get you out of my mind (Dunhill abc) Intruders - A Nice girl like you (TSOP) Impressions - I'll always be here (Curtom) William Bell - You've got the kind of love (Stax) Little Dooley - It's got to be now or never (North Bay) Little Milton - Just one step (Glades) Loleatta Holloway - Mother of shame / Our love (Aware) Green Brothers - Sweet lovin' woman (Tortoise) Family Circle - I hope you really love me / Loving you make the world go around (Sky Disc) The Mob - I dig everything about you / Love has got a hold on me (Colossus) Bo Kirkland & Ruth Davis - You're gonna get next to me (EMI) Dynamics - Let me be your friend (Black Gold) Cheers, Steve
  20. Cant stop playing this record. Has almost become a daily ritual! Thanks again Dave / Soul Junction. Please keep 'em coming. Cheers, Steve
  21. Mr Miyagi: "Better learn balance. Balance is key. Balance good, karate good. Everything good. Balance bad, better pack up go home. Understand?".
  22. Find yourself a "Mr Miyagi". Wax on, wax off.
  23. It's already on bbc iPlayer if anyone missed it. Brilliant!
  24. Only just spotted this and was more than a tad annoyed I'd missed it last night...then just seen it is already on the superb BBC iPlayer so look forward to watching that when the kids out in a bit! What a man and what a voice. I still listen to "The Poet" LPs on a regular basis, alongside other Womack magic. Stunning. Damn....I'm going to go out today and get me a tight fitting leather suit and hat and see if it helps my voice. Lol
  25. Freak Power "tune in, turn on, cop out". Used in the 1995 taxi ad. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZX8XEE07MDQ
