  1. Thanks v much Garry...I appreciate your confirmation and look forward to receiving those + keeping an eye out for others in the future. Now got your website saved to my growing list! All the best, Steve
  2. Thanks Sean for your original post on these superb records. I wasn't aware of Hit & Run until today, but pleased I am now and have just placed an order for five with interest to see what else comes out in the future! Cheers. Steve
  3. Cheers. I agree Mark.. Well done on what you paid! Think I paid about 20 dollars if I recall correctly for a VG+. I only heard it for the first time the other weekend when I was searching the track title to see if I could find out more about my ETHICS 45 on Vent, which is another TOP TOP tune in my opinion. I see a few posts up that AndyK has picked that up recently, great tune too hey?! Maybe not for this thread, but would welcome learning about a few more great tunes like these two, to add to my growing wants list! Thanks if anyone willing. All the best, Steve.
  4. Great post, thanks! Only started collecting original 45's in 2009 but truly hooked (and getting poorer but happier by the week!) Maybe out of my depth on this thread looking at some of the lists, but here goes for January: ALBERT JONES - Fifteen Cent Love (Kapp demo) CORNELIUS BROS - Too late to turn back now (UA) BOBBY WOMACK - Home is where the heart is (Columbia) TYRONE ASHLEY - I want my baby back (Phil..La) LEWIS CLARK - I need your lovin' so bad (Tigertown) DEBBIE TAYLOR - Never gonna let him know (GWP) CANDY & KISSES - Out in the streets again (Scepter) TYMES - What would I do (MGM) CAPITOLS - Don't say maybe baby (Karen)
  5. Cheers Steve...Guess I am a relatively new convert, but hooked for life now I think it's fair to say! Building the collection nicely now and will keep buying quality 45's when I can afford to (more often when I can't!) so hope to be able to help out locally sometime..All need to work together to keep this great scene and music going, both for the seasoned experts and more local newbies like me to enjoy and respect. See you & others at The Ark in a few weeks, if not at Simply Soul next weekend. All the best, Steve
  6. Should be a great night Karl! I hadn't appreciated it had been refurb'd as I think it's been almost a year since I was last at one of your nights in that room. Really enjoyed listening to you and Marco at Higham WMC ("The Ark"!) the other week + Steve & Jem too of course. A superb night and great to see such good mix of people and hear such range of soul. Much respect. Roll on 5th Feb! Cheers, Steve
  7. Superb Sean! Just sent you the separate message but wanted to show appreciation here too. Thanks v much for that (and to you of course Dean for initial post about the Puzzles!). Will certainly try to get along to one of your nights this year. Cheers, Steve
  8. After December's superb night I'm really looking forward to all these ones + your regular nights at The Ark (although still working on the 26th March as I'm supposed to be somewhere else that weekend!). Great to have such top line up already "booked in" and more than enough quality DJ's and records locally...Will be criminal if these don't get full and make most of such a big space!! Cheers and see ya'll soon Steve
  9. Thanks Sean...Always interesting to learn about records in the box and how they link with other great tracks like "Come Back". Let me know if you need to offload one of your many copies! I'm fairly new to discovering such amazing records (only started buying original 45's about 18 mnths ago!) and mind blowing how many superb tracks are out there I've still to hear for the first time! Cheers, S
  10. Only heard this great record for the first time a few months back and narrowly lost out on ebay last wkend for what looked like a very good condition promo on New Moon (think it went for $147 in the end). Will pick one up sometime! Just to add another question...I have a 45 by "The Puzzles" on Fat Back records ("My Sweet Baby") which is a funky dancer I picked up from Pat Brady early last year...Does anyone know if this is the same outfit before they got "Fantastic"? Thanks, Steve
  11. Gents...My first post on soul-source after being in "read only" mode since I discovered the site early last year, so hope I'm typing in the right box! On the back of separate email with Len today (thanks for replying and pointing me to this thread Len!) I just wanted to say thanks so much for a great night last Friday and for what you've all built up locally. Only my third outing to The Ark and first for a couple of mates who joined me on Friday. They had a top night too and will also now try and get along to all others where they can. So great to have such diverse range of great tunes and people in a place I can actually walk to...AND with a cheap bar! I walked home with aching feet again but a massive smile on my face. I felt blessed to have have initially got chatting to John Warren at Wicksteed when he was back last year, where he then intro'd me to Len & Nina, then meeting many of you in recent weeks as my interest and addiction to this amazing music & scene grows daily. Andy...I look forward to meeting you after hearing much from John through his emails! Been listening to and collecting soul in various forms for many years but fair to say I fit firmly into your "new face" category when it comes to your established northern / rare scene and the knowledge and records you guys have / the people you know who share the same passion. It's now an expensive hobby (Pat Brady and the like need to stop making it so easy to get hold of such great records!), but so worth it! It's great to read the positive views you've posted re new interest and fresh faces... although I also see how you don't want to dilute what makes these nights so special. I really appreciate how those of you I've met so far have taken the time to speak and share some knowledge / tips etc. I have much respect. Thanks again for what you're all doing and if I can help out in any way with future events, then be happy to if I can add anything without being a soul pest! Cheers, Steve.
