Eddie Parker - But If You Must Go - Deep Soul 45
Jaco, Let me see what others say about the record, then I'll give you some history. It's been around and it is a superfine 'hit.' Eddie does a beautiful job with it. Lorraine

Pied Piper - Follow Your Soul - Kent Cd - Out Now
Hi Triode, Talked with Eddie Parker the other day just to say "Hi," and told him we have to check on each other every other month. He laughed and and said "you are right." I would still like to meet the people and sing a few songs and so would Eddie. Just let us know what you get together. Remember, time is not our friend, not an enemy, but definitely not as a friendly as it use to be. Lorraine

Pied Piper - Follow Your Soul - Kent Cd - Out Now
I had added a comment, but I guess it got lost. Anyhoo, I cannot remember why Joe Buckman was listed alone if he recorded with the Metros, but who knows (or can remember) what happened back then? What I am glad about is the reaction that people are having off of these old songs. It is great to see that some people still care. Lorraine

Ss Northern Soul Hall Of Fame To Open Its Doors
This is so heartwarming. For some, to give them their flowers now, instead of donating toward a headstone or grave site that they will never see, this is an honor. I also hope the Northern Soul audience shows their appreciation one more time by donating whatever than can to send a small award to the Inductees and/or families to treasure and hold for years to come. On another note, another round of nominations for your favorite artist will happen shortly. Don't be shy, nominate and vote! Show the appreciation! Lorraine

News: Soul Source Northern Soul Hall Of Fame Oct 2014
Hello all, Don't forget, we have time to put our 'favorites' in, but we must nominate them and votes must be garnered. All I ask is that you participate in the betterment of this Hall of Fame (HOF). I will take all the criticisms you have and appreciate the support. We will stumble and make mistakes along the way, but it will be out of love and oversight. This time next year, we will be recognized as a noteworthy HOF. I know I am emotional about this because I know how the artists/pre-production individuals will feel when inducted. I have to tell myself to 'slow my roll' because everything cannot be done in one day. I expect more of you to participate in the next round, except our apologies for any mistakes and hold our feet to the fire to make this better and better! Love you all, Lorraine

Funk Brothers Tribute / Eddie Willis Fundraiser live in Detroit 16 Nov 2013
SS Family: Today, 09:46 PM #8 drewschultz88 Senior Member Hi Lorraine and BoyFromXTown! I do need to put some thought into the auction to allow folks who can't be there in person to take part. Maybe a live Skype - type group video streaming chat room for that portion? I think that could be doable. Let me do some detective work and look into it! Thomas, Joe does indeed still live in the area, and Eddie has mentioned that he's reaching out. I hope he comes through too, it would be phenomenal to have Eddie, Dennis, and Joe all together! (Drew is talking about Dennis Coffee and Joe Messina. I hope Drew can do this so you all can bid on the items. Stay tuned! ~ Lorraine)

Funk Brothers Tribute / Eddie Willis Fundraiser live in Detroit 16 Nov 2013
To the SS family, I realize most of us cannot jump on a plane and attend functions of our choice at the drop of a hat, so I just wanted you all to have the opportunity to send your 'flowers' to Eddie Willis while he can appreciate them. I have asked if they can open up the auction worldwide to help Eddie even more. I will keep you posted on this as soon as I receive an answer. Even though it is a fact of life, It is heartbreaking to see so many RIP's of people who were a part of our lives and don't even know it. It pains me to see the RIP's ripping through this and other musical websites every week. Let us honor ourselves and others while we can (that is why I am such a big birthday fan!). Stay tuned for the auction info. Lorraine

Funk Brothers Tribute / Eddie Willis Fundraiser live in Detroit 16 Nov 2013
Funk Brothers Tribute / Eddie Willis Fundraiser live in Detroit 16 Nov 2013 For Your Information - Copied from Soulful Detroit, Motown Forum Original Funk Brothers guitarist Eddie Willis will be coming to Detroit for a very rare intimate appearance at the Northern Lights Lounge on Saturday, November 16th at 7:00pm. The event will have a question and answer session with Eddie, plus a concert of deep cuts and big hits with Eddie, Dennis Coffey, The Drew Schultz Funk Machine, and longtime members of the Funk Brothers touring band including Delbert Nelson, Treaty Womack, Spider Webb, Robert Jones, Ralphe Armstrong, Donna Curtain, and many more. We'll also have stories and memories of The Funk Brothers recounted by some Detroit Legends. Eddie has been suffering from the effects of Polio for some time now, and 100% of the profits from the show will be donated to Eddie and his wife. There will be a $15 cover with a suggested donation, as well as several cool signed pieces of Funk Brothers memorabilia auctioned off! If you'd like to get a ticket in advance, we've set up an unconventional sale through ebay - this works around the "convenience" fees that other companies charge for simply printing tickets or holding at will call. That page is here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tribute-to-The-Funk-Brothers-Eddie-Willis-Fundraiser-11-16-13-/190925570989?pt=US_Tickets_all_in_one&hash=item2c740d03ad Hope to see you there! http://soulfuldetroit.com/showthread.php?10279-Funk-Brothers-Tribute-Eddie-Willis-Fundraiser-live-in-Detroit-11-16-13 I might get in trouble for this, but Eddie is worth it! For more info, go to the Soulful Detroit site (maybe you can participate in the auction). Lorraine

Funk Bros - Hollywood Star
I'm sorry Roburt and Dave, I didn't see your replies when I posted the Free Press' article. Apologies. (I'm getting so British!) Lorraine

Funk Bros - Hollywood Star
I never know if this is going to work, but The Detroit News had a beautiful article on The Funk Brothers' Hollywood Star. http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20130306/ENT04/303060345/1424/ENT04/Motown-s-Funk-Brothers-get-their-star Lorraine added by site The Funk Brothers, Motown's famed backing musicians, will be getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on March 21 in Los Angeles. Percussionist Jack Ashford and guitarist Eddie Willis, as well as several of the late Funks' family members will be there to bask in the glow of the Tinseltown honor. "This is a once in a lifetime opportunity; I couldn't miss this," said Joe Hunter Jr., son of the late pianist Joe Hunter, the first bandleader for Motown's band in 1959. He scraped up the money to fly out with his wife. "Too many people sacrificed to make this happen." From The Detroit News: http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20130306/ENT04/303060345#ixzz2MuoSaZkL Use the above link for full story plus details of... A fund has been set up for the Funk Brothers to offset some of the remaining expenses connected to the Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony.

Pied Piper - A New Concept In Detroit Soul
Hi Steve, I'm here basking in this warm glow of being part of a charted album after all these years. I always knew we had talented artists, writers, arrangers and musicians. I'm sorry that it took so long for the recognition (outside of you all) and I hope it keeps selling and selling and selling. I know I don't have to thank you, but I do. I know I don't have to say how much I love my Soul Source family, but I do. The CD still has a way to go and it's much too soon to get emotional, but I am. Lorraine

News: Paul Riser MBA - Motowns Brilliant Arranger
Guess I'll add my two cents. I'll say again, I was honored to be around such talent as Paul Riser. He was the arranger on many horn sessions for Pied Piper and Just Productions. To say he was brilliant is an understatement. You had to see him work with a musician to play the right notes and feel the rhythym and he did it in such a professional and soft spoken way as to not belittle them. There was always a smile and the 'let's get to work' attitude because he knew outside of Motown, time was money and independent producers had very little (money). This is a great article and I'm so glad to see the 'behind the hits' people getting some attention. Lorraine

Sad News Bob Babbitt Has Passed Away.
Dave, your post says it all and Babbitt puts the finishing touches on it. Actually, Cool Jerk knocked me out of my #1 slot in Detroit (What Can I Do) and the Funks played on both of them. I'm so glad he interviewed. Believe it or not, this is the most I've heard Bob speak! When he came to the sessions, he came to work. Not a lot of talk, just fingering. Maybe the other guys didn't give him a chance to speak (they spoke constantly), but this was so refreshing. A true professional. Lorraine

News: Sharon Scott: The Search Is Over
Andy, I am not surprised. When the Northern Soul folks put their minds and hearts together, the world changes (or stays the same!). I'm glad she's well. If you all show her a quarter of the kindness you've shown me, you might get her to cross the pond. I'm sure you and Ady will work it out. What a beautiful voice. Dibs on writing her next song! Percy Williams Appeal
Chalky, You and all the others did a fantastic job. Unfortunately, this story is repeated here more than I care to admit. You all are wonderful and I'm sure the family is thankful. Now you see why I love you all so. Lorraine

Percy Williams (The Metros ) RIP
What a beautiful voice he had. It saddens me that so many of my music associates and part of the Pied Piper family are leaving. This seems to be a revolving door in the past couple of weeks. I thought that The Metros had made it over the Atlantic. It saddens me that they didn't, you would have enjoyed them. My condolences to his family. Lorraine Chandler

Nick Ashford Rip
There are no words. Not only did I learn from them, their songs were the background music to the best times of my life. Two of the coolest people you would ever want to meet and Ashford was the definition of 'cool'. I had no idea that Ashford was ill. What a shock. My condolences to Valerie and the family. Thanks for letting folks know about 'Tree'. I'm unfamiliar on how to use the site and this info is very important. Tree was my writing partner on many songs. Dave you are everywhere! Lorraine Chandler
