Only two known copies of Junior McCants so is this a third? This combination of records in the same ownership would be very hard to come by, perhaps half a dozen individuals in this league. For them to be for sale simultaneously is a chance in a million. Nevertheless, the descriptions appear plausible enough.

Credit to Kenny for spinning True Patron of The Arts in recent times. Really only a third rate sound but someone's got to experiment with fresh material otherwise the scene stagnates. Stand by for a load more Northern Garage once the Northern Funk movement has petered out.

You are wise to express concern. Most would pass over an advert as vague as this. I think we all have a responsibility to flag up potential pitfalls if record collecting is to be the clean game we want it to be.

Beats me why they didn't have Sean in the film - one of the great characters of the scene. And good to see Sean at the 100 Club Film Premier Party, mingling with the stars and us ordinary underground folk.

There was one at Docs records in Fort Worth at Easter. In mint condition in a picture sleeve. I had to leave it there as the price was $60. Might be worth a try. There were a few other good records on the wall worth having but only in VG condition.

Available on a 70's British reissue. You will not find many who own a real one let alone somebody prepared to sell. What do you want to pay for this elusive tune?

Got my orange label copy from Soul Bowl 1975/76 when it was big at Wigan. Never saw a green label copy until fairly recently when I picked one off eBay listed for the funk side. The green label copy is easily the scarcest and despite the pressing flaw, plays absolutely fine. There is a very unusual greeny-orange copy in the hands of Gary from Holyhead as he coloured his orange one using a green felt pen - he did this for a laugh as the green label was reputed to be rare at the time and this was Wigan c1976/77 and lots of us were just fussed about owning the sound rather than possessing an original copy.

There used to be a small record store on Victoria Island but that was 2006 when last there. Also a place in downtown Vancover but can't remember the name sorry. The Okanagan region is terrific for wine and food. Skinnies Grill at Hope, East of Vancouver is as good an eatery you will find when on a road trip. Half Moon Bay north of Vancouver is a good spot to stop off if heading north up the coast. You will have a great time in this part of the world but vinyl will not be a big feature of the trip unless you head to Seattle or Portland.

Hi Kev. What were the 10 security guys actually doing there apart from pocketing a proportion of the takings? Do the security team maintain a presence in the main room? Were there any female security personnel in attendance as they can be more effective than males when keeping the riff-raff out? Appears there is a security issue at the Kings Hall and at least one unpleasant customer should be prevented from entering in future. Would be interesting to hear if anyone on SS witnessed the incident in question and could relay the details to you via PM.

Manship's auction finished a couple of weeks ago

Was £25 25 years ago but has been bumping along at two hundred smackeroonies for a while now. This record is in a zero supply situation with nobody selling as it has two very good sides. The final auction figure may well be extremely high but the price of this record is not likely to go down in the years ahead.

Terribly sad...he can't dance side-to-side yet he's already shuffling back and forth like he owns the place. Did he have L pages on as he seems a total novice. Did you challenge him to a dance-off to make him feel so inadequate he had to throw his weight around? Next time he backs into you, just stamp your heel into his achilles tendon, pretend to look the other way and request the DJ plays a well known song by Kim Tolliver...

Sounds rather plain and flat. Maybe rare and obscure but unlikely to make a real impression on a scene rich in good tunes. One for the RnB collectors who might appreciate the earlier nuances.
