Northern Soul At The BBC Proms 2023
To hear those tracks with a fine orchestral backing was great I thought. Would not have been my choice of material but it was a good overall view of the nostalgia scene. Crowd seemed to love it (although Proms crowds do seem to do that whatever) so a decent couple of hours radio. Will also check out the T.V. version in August. Cheers Paul

Where do you listen to yours…
Mrs Shrews & myself usually listen to @Hans Diepstraten the weekly Fingerpoppin' Soul show while having our Sunday lunch. The show goes out live from 21;00-23;00 (Euro Time) every Thursday. But by that time after a week working we are thinking bedtime rather than listening time. Cheers Paul

2022 - Soul Highlights and highlights....
Highlight for me was this event starting back in September. A Lowrider/Downtempo/Deep (call it what you will) Soul night. Just simply real soul music in the company of some real nice people. At last something in Amsterdam for us misfits. Any Soul Sourcers looking for a break in Holland this year the dates for 23 (so far) or on the flyer. Cheers Paul

Offices of record companies: are they still there?
Hi Russ "Obviously, some of you have been fortunate to go looking for old locations in person in years past," quote from OP While not looking for old offices/studios per se the 1st time we went to see Jerry Butler in Washington DC we stayed at the Washington Plaza on Thomas Circle. It was only a couple of years later after reading an Andy Rix article on here that the penny dropped. We could have been sleeping on the site of Shrine Records ! Cheers Paul

Mattie Butler RIP
Sad to report that Mattie Butler has died. Sister of Jerry and Billy, her wonderful voice graced many a Chicagoan recording. She was also a member of the group Peaches on Mercury Records. Thank you for the music Mattie. Paul

Joe Tarsia RIP
Sad to report Joe Tarsia has died. I'm sure every collecter on this site has a 45 recorded at Sigma Sound. Chances are that Joe Tarsia was the man behind the controls of that recording. Thank you Mr Tarsia for your technical knowledge over the years making some of our favourite records sound so cool. Cheers Paul
