Hi Chalky, I paid a visit to the garage on saturday......I had a root in the boxes containing the tapes. good news is there are probably 100 or so.......bad news is about half don't have track listings. I have dug a couple out with track listings. Its a job for someone with more patience and inclination than I possess pm me if you want to know from who etc. best regards steve

Soul On Sunday, Morley, Leeds
That was a good spot from Andy at a nice local venue on a dismal Summer afternoon. He got the dance floor moving.... Good company. Good conversation. The Guinness was not bad either.....just not quite enough of it. His use of the mic left a bit to be desired tho...!

More Ns Tat Or Chance To Attract Younger Souls?
TAT. in the same way that parkas are tat. in the same way that Harley Davidson clothing is tat in the same way that spencers, vests and beer towels are tat. BUT it will probably attract a whole new crowd of returnees to the "life style" they enjoyed for half a summer in the mid 70s so it cant be a bad thing can it? oh and I can see both of my lads, and their mates, using the bags for college/sports, but I cannot imagine any of them suddenly wanting to join the "life style"

Agreed. I believe more quality records were introduced to the scene after Wigan shut. (....pause for bricks been thrown....) Somewhere in the garage there are a couple of Live at the TOTW tapes. See if I can dig them out. I am very interested in seeing/hearing George's sets. I always liked Mr Sharp and think he is often forgotten. and under recognised. Him and Mr Pearson used to promote some very innovative nights in Bradford in the early 80s. Very educational/inspirational and sparked my passage from routine club classic sounds to rare/newies. Keep up the good work

Hi Ady you wanting to borrow "Boomerang"? Steve

Ikea , One Room Paradise
Raelettes is best...the others are just versions...... .... it's that sort of uptown noise that used to make me run to the dancefloor and try to make myself fall over....... still not a stale sound even now. by the way, does anyone else find the visuals to the Ikea ad freaky? The sizes of the "dolls heads" had me do a double take...odd in the way that the "bingo ball head" advert is..........

Dave Mitchell & The Screamers On P.s. 'the Trip'
thanks for the post.. just been into record cupboard to dig this out to play.........annoyed the dog and the kids but left a big smile on my face......what were they doing in the studio when they cut it? genuinely forget what a mad bonkers noise it is ..............forget the fashionable view that everyone wants to tell you northern is... instrumentals may not be everyone's cup of poison, but I would honestly rather hear this out than most of the crap pedalled as Top 500 sounds and played to death to a revivalist audience with painted on ears and baggy trousers........ it is rare on PS. What's it worth? Probably more than a lot of big ticket items...however as an unfashionable sound its not gonna go for book value....where's the kudos in paying through the nose for this ? However, I would love to see how Manship would wordsmith an auction advert for this........

John Bowie Info Etc
Whilst busy working I was looking through some articles and came across this post. You can have my thoughts for what they are worth........ I have had a soft spot for the Little John Bowie "my love my love" on Phil-La since I heard it on a tape (Stafford tiime, lovingly entitled "Classy 6Ts rarities from Ion the Greek") I went and bought a copy thinking what a mega sound..... It always seemed to have to have an older sound to it than the "Go go Annie" side. I knew the numbering on the Phil-La singles was a little odd but thought nothing of the differences in the two matrix/catalogue numbers on each side. I always thought the Big John & The Philadelphians records were a bit "too old school" for me.....so I never bothered with them.......Recently I saw the Big John & The Philadelphians "My love my love" on Guyden on that well known internet auction site. This had a soundclip with it......a quick listen cant hurt......bazinga.... I suddenly realised why the Phil-La side sounded older...it was! One cheeky punt later I now have two records with the same track by two different named artists on 2 labels....oh well. Apart from the fact that it would save studio cost and the cost of a master, does anyone know why the same track was used spread across half a decade? Ok so I now know that John Bowie is Little John Bowie and also lead for Big John & Philadelphians. I know the Merben 45 is him but is there anything else worth buying? Also...what is going rate nowadays? Best regards Steve

Rare Stuff On The Green Uk Columbia Label ?
Haha, is there no end to the lack of imagination in the mind of a rip off merchant? Lets hope they did the right thing and pressed it with the Cliff Richard version/song on the B side Is there really such a lack of good quality sounds around to play? Cant say i've played mine in the last twenty years....should I give it to Johnny Manship to auction?

Rare Stuff On The Green Uk Columbia Label ?
There's a version of "Money" by Cherry Wainer, organ workout in a mod style....1960. Green Columbia. First UK cover of a Motown song?

Identify Three Keb Spins
This has just made me smile...I have the Billy Adams (£8 buy 20+ years ago). However I don't think I have ever played the "Go (Go On)" side since I bought it, and certainly didn't realise that it was a Keb spin. To my ears the better side is the other one: "You and Me" big Van McCoy thumper/beater....IMHO anyway. Cheers BTW Patti & Emblems is super spin.

Lovelites On Bandera
hi my copy has same label design as the ebay scan. titles are 'i found a lover"/"stop it' constellation type label (dark blue colour/silver ink for type). matrix is scratched not stamp. had it a long time. wanted their other track but could not remember title at time and thought it was this..... why would anyone boot it? it was never mainstream so not worth bothering. ok tune. cheers
