Sad news indeed, i've said before losing boy is one of my favourate soul sides . I actually found it on a kent/ ace album (the stax version) many years ago , that led me to the one on murco, so thanks Ady.

Even more strange when you consider freddy scott could hardly have been known outside new york soul circles at the time !

Why ? Can anyone say why you would think about releasing a record in english, in Spanish or Portuguese speaking countries , whats the commerial sense in that ? Europe i get , but South America 40/50 years ago ?

You have the actual record or just found the picture ? , i have freddie scott album 'are you lonely for me ' on Joy which includes open the door to your heart & some heart breaking deep soul too .

Saw him too at Newark about ten years ago , think he was on at skegness weekender couple of years ago , so still doing the rounds . You don.t stand a chance album as been mentioned, track 4 a nice tune , 'supicious love' & his version of' chains of love' is a stormer too,for lovers of mid seventys soul music.

Im a plasterer can't turn the work out like i used to but i keep on keeping on !

You have to take the background of an artist in consideration too where they came from what they overcame ect, especially afro americans, Ray Charles for example. Not forgetting white guys that can- could hold a toon, Frankie Valli Paul Anka , Stevie Winwood , Chris Farlow, Joe Cocker et al .

For me its not posible to pick out one artist, too many, so Edwin Starr, Wilson Picket, Winfield Parker, Johnny Taylor, Joe Simon, Benny Gordon, Clyde McPhatter, Spyder Turner , Jimmy James........ on on on

Oh yeah ya right was going by the scans ive seen appears to be the promo coloured with pink felt tip , lol, that explains it , must get to spec savers.

The Webs on popside #4595 'Give in' can anyone say which record is the rarer? as far as i know there's a white promo , pink issue & a multi colour one. I'm a lover of the gritty side of soul. Also anyone know of a book about the 1960tys soul of New York , regards Martin.
