  1. "Notorious record shark Glen Bivens" - haha long time since I'd seen Glen's name in print Ian, yes that about sums it up bless him
  2. Not "proper" Northern by any stretch but do kinda like Satisfied by Soul Inc. on Rondo, apparently the theme tune to some movie - Duffy - have never seen come up on Cable Thought story on the first Aristocrats was Jeff Silverman here in NY got hold of it, maybe from TX as Boba says, then it changed hands twice before ending up w Ian in the UK, that one's not super clean like the recent ebay one, then the reissue came off studio tapes not from another copy

No fella, tis a version of On Broadway, probably didn't help sales as it's pretty dire, but you're right in that the label is more known for rocksteady type releases, both sides of this are also on a comp lp of various 45's on the label, don't know how tough is to find on your side of the water, maybe a q for Pete S?

My favourite Chick song, have it on UK BAF, don't know if got a US release?
  5. Would be very happy for you if it's legit, that would be beyond a bargain, have had many offers over the years for mine, would never let it go!! Rarest one on the label is by the backing band from this 45 but without Delores - Robert Cardwell and his Soul Searchers Band - only know of a few, have one here, there's one in LA, a beat-up copy went to UK few years back, otherwise never see it listed.
  6. It's definitely long peaked, back when it used to be big on the Funk scene sold a lovely close to mint one for either $900 or $1,000, would suspect could cut that in half these days
  7. Not the greatest version have ever heard, just plods along tempo wise, try the Little Woo Woo version on Heat, that'll get you moving! Or plenty of others on this thread:
  8. Bold Breed isn't what I'd call a new discovery, agree still not that many copies around which isn't quite the same thing
  9. One of the loudest 45's you'll ever put on your turntable, full marks to whoever mastered this back in the day, it's speaker destroyingly great!

Not a tough record here Stateside. Had to laugh at the chancer promptly listing one in sales for uk300 as a "bargain", there's always one joker in the pack
  11. Took me a while to find one of these as not at all known here in the States, Tony in San Diego always rated this, bass line has a weird similarity to Rock Lobster many years later of all records
  12. That's a different Salem, same as RedCoats Revue Inc.
  13. The 2nd Frances Burr is blah, also not too excited when got Charles McNair "Bundle up and go/Sometime beats no time"
  14. Nothing beats Frances Burr "I say no, no more", but Jimmy Ellis "Putting it on your mind" is a winner too
  15. Val Shively 49 Garrett Road, Upper Darby 610 352 2320 Easiest way there from the city centre is catch the Market Frankford line train to the terminus at 69th St, walk 100 yards up Market St and Garrett Road is on your left at a small junction, Val is up on the right hand side
  16. Artist: Lil Major Williams A Side: Girl (you're So Sweat, You're So Fine) Don't think the singer's got much chance winning her over calling her Sweaty Betty!
  17. I sold a mint copy to a good guy in Germany a few months ago, great 45, have tracked down a couple of band members but no more extra copies yet
  18. Have noticed a fair few on this label cropping up on sales lists over recent times, did wonder if someone had found a batch? One have seen most is LC Steels version of Losing Boy
  19. Funniest thing about the Salvadors is every time we see Jo Armstead she always calls it the worst record she ever wrote!
  20. Rate the flip too Mine has reversed labels so when I forget that's what I get to hear!
  21. There's over 830 45 releases on the Preview discography so who knows what else is decent on it? I have a really good girl dancer b-side, drawing a blank on name/title but it os the flip of something atrociously bad, plenty of those on the label!
  22. That's why I sold my Wendell Western - Nag on me, goes for a wander in the middle and so do I!
  23. I sold a clean one earlier this year, think had $100 on it, agree a solid tune
  24. Nice to see his early sides getting the recognition they deserve, he was sensational live for us last year, someone bring him over to the UK, you guys are missing out!
  25. Recorded really low though, really have to crank this one up despite having a super clean copy (sorry can't split off the crossover side for you Bob, as always I play the flip! )
