The Nation’S Favourite Motown Song - Itv Documentary
Got a telling off on another site for saying my personal favourite Motown related track was Battened Ships - Oddyssey. Thing is Motown is a broad church so you have to include things like Called To Say I Love You by Stevie & Never Been To Me by Charlene. Think Baby Love - Supremes might win it though closely followed by Marvin, Four Tops etc. Be interesting to do a Soul Source version - Mike?

Strange that you want to change the name of the scene but haven't changed your baggy trousers for nearly 40 years

Was slowly starting to get won over to the Elaine Constantine film thingy but not any more after that. Bang goes any credibility that the film or she had IMO. Soulboy part 2. And what was all that about with the flowery hat?

Top 100 Male Soul Singers Of All Time
Thought some of you might be interested in this poll on the Soul Tracks website. It shows the results of their poll for the top 100 Male Soul singers of all time. Marvin's no 1 so no surprise there but David Ruffin at no 18 & Jackie Wilson only just scrapes into the top 30 with Levi Stubbs way down at no 48? Some of the bigger surprises are people like Michael Jackson in the top 10 & Prince at no 13. Now I'm not doubting their talent but greatest Soul singers? See what you think on the link below. Have also copied the results below the link. https://www.soultracks.com/greatest-male-singers?fb_action_ids=10152305509231410&fb_action_types=og.comments&fb_source=aggregation&fb_aggregation_id=288381481237582 1 Marvin Gaye 2 Luther Vandross 3 Stevie Wonder 4 Sam Cooke 5 Teddy Pendergrass 6 Al Green 7 Donny Hathaway 8 Smokey Robinson 9 Michael Jackson 10 Howard Hewett 11 Otis Redding 12 Ronald Isley 13 Prince 14 Peabo Bryson 15 Barry White 16 Jeffrey Osborne 17 Frankie Beverly 18 David Ruffin 19 Bobby Womack 20 Gerald Levert 21 Will Downing 22 Eddie Levert 23 Curtis Mayfield 24 James Brown 25 Isaac Hayes 26 Maxwell 27 Lou Rawls 28 Nat King Cole 29 Philip Bailey 30 Jackie Wilson 31 Eddie Kendricks 32 Lionel Richie 33 Johnny Gill 34 George Benson 35 Phil Perry 36 Charlie Wilson 37 Freddie Jackson 38 Al Jarreau 39 James Ingram 40 Bill Withers 41 Wilson Pickett 42 Jerry Butler 43 Michael McDonald 44 Anthony Hamilton 45 Maurice White 46 Mario Biondi 47 Kem 48 Levi Stubbs 49 Rick James 50 Eric Benet 51 Babyface 52 Alexander O'Neal 53 Dennis Edwards 54 El DeBarge 55 Johnny Taylor 56 Lenny Williams 57 John Legend 58 Keith Sweat 59 Raphael Saadiq 60 D'Angelo 61 Larry Graham 62 Gerald Alston 63 Usher 64 Bobby Caldwell 65 Kenny Lattimore 66 George Duke 67 Glenn Jones 68 Jonathan Butler 69 Solomon Burke 70 Tevin Campbell 71 Musiq Soulchild 72 Joe 73 William Hart (Delfonics) 74 Daryl Hall 75 Percy Sledge 76 Phillipe Wynne 77 Walter/Wallace Scott 78 Bobby Blue Bland 79 Little Anthony 80 Keith Washington 81 Ruben Studdard 82 Billy Paul 83 Ali Ollie Woodson 84 BB King 85 Raheem DeVaughn 86 Russell Thompkins, Jr. 87 Gene Chandler 88 Rance Allen 89 BeBe Winans 90 James J.T. When you look at the track-listing one name jumps out at you but he wouldn't involve himself in anything like that, would he.....

Boot Leg Lp
Still got one of these somewhere & it's probably not seen a needle for about 30+ years. Remember some having a fault on the Deadbeats that jumped like a kangaroo but others played through clean. Anyone shed any light on who was behind them.

The Motown 7S Box Set: Rare And Unused
Well I'm just playing mine now & on the first disc (Marvin b/w Spinners) & as soon as I hit the play button the deck was spinning but the record was that badly dished it just sat there motionless. Did the old DJ trick & popped a cover under it & it played through but as suspected it was rather quiet due to the fine grooves. Why is something that was so easy to make in the 60's & 70's so difficult to make successfully now? Quite embarrassing for all concerned.

Len Barry Is He Blue Eyed Or Not There ?
Hate the term 'blue eyed'. Len Barry's eyes were brown so why call them blue?

Portable Record Players
Work on both mains & battery Dave. Bought some rechargable batterys for mine & never let me down. Also got a headphone socket so perfect for nighters. Can also play it through an fm radio wirelessly.

The Motown 7S Box Set: Rare And Unused
Ordered my £30.94 set off amazon on Wednesday night & it arrived this morning (Thursday). One set left at this price when I last looked. No 1108 & all records present & correct. Not played them yet but I must be honest & say they look pretty cheap & nasty. The quality of the vinyl looks awful as they appear to be very lightly pressed, nothing like the old 1960's singles they are attempting to replicate. Also the notes are poor as well, 1 sheet of paper. Glad I am not one of the people who bought multiple sets FOR MORE hoping to cash in as feel they will be stuck with them as they are just not really worth much more than £30 IMO.

Top Tips For 2014
If you think I'm going to waste money on a pint to pour over my own head you got another think coming Steve, obviously forgetting I'm a Yorkshireman. I did say in advance it was a marmite track.
