Trying to dance
Shirebrook School disco in 1978. I’d never seen anything like it. A young, small kid called John Sankey was brilliant. Don’t know if he stayed on the scene. Me and my mates decided in a split second that were were officially into Northern Soul. We all met up the next day at my mate Dale Wilkinson’s house and practiced the moves as best we could. What times!

New short Documentary: 'Once Upon a Time in Wigan'
Saw it with my late brother in Mansfield. It really was good. Atmospheric, accurate and the cast were superb. Good job Paul!

Playing boots in the 21st Century...
It was Sooty, asking which 3 labels The (New) Younghearts was issued on. Can't recall the venue, but no one got it.

Recording Bloopers
I noticed that.... I thought it was a bit of extra percussion that was mixed badly... surprised for an expensive ABC production.

Recording Bloopers
Also if you listen to the ‘Get Ready’ break in Big Maybelle’s Quittin Time, again the bass player loses the plot and goes for a bit of a walk. It was such a good take though, they had to use it! I think I notice these as I play bass myself. Baby Boy will appreciate this... is he still on here?

Recording Bloopers
Listen to Larry Allen - Cant We Talk It Over, about two thirds of the way in. The bass player gets totally lost and the piano is feeling its way back into the song !... the band are clearly just running through the song but someone decided that the take was fine.

70s LP tracks.
Swiss Movement - Come Around Here - from the It's Time For The Swiss Movement LP. Paul Dallison played it on Saturday at slim Jenkins Place in Sheffield - I can't get it out of my head, it's superb.

Tony Clarke-The entertainer
Listen to Soft Cell's 'Say Hello, Wave Goodbye' and you'll see Dave ball has lifted the guitar break from The Entertainer note for note and used it as a figure that goes through the song. Listening for those little steals is fascinating...
