TOTALLY UNKNOWN !!! PANAMA Sweet Soul Don't play me around LA OFENSIVA
The 45 looks and sounds badly off centre or am I having a stroke. Could be covered up as Gerry Marsden. personally I would not class this as soul music.

Hinckley leisure centre
Remember looking at that piano Al kent was playing, and thinking they can only smash it up when it's over!, it looked very old and f---in huge. Some fellow had several copies of Charles Johnson at £4. Don't remember much else.

EARL WHITE JR ON EBAY
If somebody gave me a load of records to flog, only to find out later they were boots, then I would make sure everybody and their dog knew who they were. I see no reason why you are unable to disclose his ID. You should have him locked up in the shed by now, ready for the fraud squad to ask him a few questions!

EARL WHITE JR ON EBAY
I did in fact think of doing that today, so protecting some poor bugger ending up with a very expensive boot. However I think you would end up with one of those unpaid item strikes or whatever they call them. But I am sure there must be a way of getting it removed if you could prove it was a counterfeit/boot etc. Trouble is if you are unable to do so then you could be open to some sellers blocking you from their auctions. Several years ago there was a guy in Indiana ripping people of on a regular basis and not coming through with the goods. He ripped me for $60, then like a prat I bid on another of his items not looking who the seller was, when I realized it was to late. However I decided not to take the chance again and did not pay up. You can guess what happened, I ended up with one of those strikes or whatever they call them!. But this could be the only way Ivor. Andy

EARL WHITE JR ON EBAY
If you read my opening post you will notice that was one of the alarm bells that rang! but well spotted Dave. So it looks as if the soul-source detective agency has detected another boot, of which we seem powerless to do anything about Andy

EARL WHITE JR ON EBAY
Yep, that's the fellow Swifty. And yes I had my doubts about that 45 too!. I am not accusing anyone either, but if things go on and we all keep our mouth shut, and they do turn out to be bad eggs, it will just escalate. I appreciate your reply. Andy

EARL WHITE JR ON EBAY
Have I become paranoid about boots, or is it a couple of lucky ones!. The reason I say this a seller in Japan has a copy up on there which is resting on three other 45s, if you look closely the one on the bottom is also Earl White Jr. The copy I have had since the mid eightees would appear to be a slightly deeper color, sharper text, and the both letters p and b within the text are a bit more fat. I know the record comes up for sale occasionally, but what do you folks think? Andy

Bootleg - Takes
My wife has been bootlegging my sandwiches for years, They are almost identical copies of the ones I can't be bothered to make. Except mine taste far superior. Think Chalky's posts have brought some common sense and clarity to the subject, whilst Maslar needs to go and have a good lay down.

Satans Breed "road Runner"jenges, Anyone Know The True Value Of This 45?
The excellent book which Dave gives reference to was released in 1998 given the time scale regarding the research and publishing, the track was probably known from at least the mid 90's.

Sandra Wright original 70s LP does exist
That's fair enough Ian, just thought I would run that past you as they say. Given the fact you have already alluded to the fact it was rather heavy and in a tatty sleeve, do you think this was an acetate in a plain black sleeve with perhaps some promotional notes and a track listing? or full artwork with credits associated with the finished product? Either way I do hope this comes to light not just for your piece of mind, but for the soul community as a whole. A really great piece of lost history if it does surface. Andy

Sandra Wright original 70s LP does exist
Just a thought Ian, but given the time span between this thread and when you last had this LP, do you think it is possible you have confused this with the Sandra Alexandra LP, after all it has Sandra written on the front in large print, face only photo of a black lady, and the LP title is two words beginning with W. Except it it is not Wounded Woman, it's Warm & wild. If you remember it had that northernish cut on it 'She will break your heart'. I know the quality is poles apart, but like I say passage of time and all that. On a personal note, if somebody has a promo with just a publicity photo etc then to be honest I would not be that shocked, as for the finished lp with full artwork, just can't see it.

Sandra Wright original 70s LP does exist
No doubt you have listed the titles in that way because of personal taste. However both 'Midnight Affair' and 'Please don't say goodbye' are in fact the B sides. with the label deciding to push the A sides to the point where most copies have the same track on both sides, hence the difficulty in finding them in 2016. 'Please don't say goodbye' is in imo a masterpiece within that clutch of labels. As for expansion flogging the original LP, Perhaps the question should be put to John Anderson, as he no doubt imported the item. Andy

Peterborough Allnighters 1980 onwards
Papa luigis must have been one of the first nighters to carry the ' modern soul' tag with no northern played. Got to those a couple of times, and fondly remember the excellent mix of current soulfull boogie tunes like Dino Terrell, Crown heights Affair, and the staple diet of little logo 45s. A really fresh and ground breaking time for the soul scene back then. As for the fleet, well the few times I did attend it seemed more of a challenge trying to avoid being clouted by the local bikers or punks walking through that bloody housing estate after getting of the train. My mate tried to drive us there one night in his old cortina E, only to crash it somewhere in the fens, twisting the whole thing so badly that the front and rear boot sprung open, together with only one passenger door that would open to let us out. Barley strands were jamed in every crevice. The driver got the breakdown to get him home, while we hitched the last fifty odd miles. Happy days.

The male greats... all gone?
Remember several kind words regarding her passing , just simply forgot, so I do apologize. Difficult to keep up with the regular passing of great soul singers!

Trying to find date of record releases
Soul harmony singles 1960 - 1990. A very good book. No publication can have everything in, but this has a decent proportion given the publishing date of 1998. Not that much help on the single artist items, but there are many in there which had a strong group to back them. Probably not an easy book to find, but well worth the effort. Hope this will help. Mike James Kirkland Special Part 1
Fantastic soul singer and a really nice selection. His 'You put love on my mind' from the 'Doin' it right' set remains a firm favorite. Cheers Andy

Stylistics - Anyone?
Had it not been for the success of this great group, I very much doubt the Falsetto lead would have had the same impact with in black music history. Falsetto and light tenor members became a must for most of the more successful groups. I still find it hard to get past ' I don't want to make you wait' as chestnut within their catalog. Good shout peter. Andy
