  1. Thanks for that Dave, as some sellers have told me they can't get round it!. I now have sum amunition. Andy
  2. You could well be right sir, but given the fact the casino did not close till december 81 and many a pop thing were around as demos or smaller runs before it actually charted i could be right, or maybe i heard him play it somewhere else, as another poster pointed out who also heard him play it. Either way it's crap and should stay in the wayne gibson box.
  3. Few records can transport a soul fan to complete musical entrapment like this one. Probably why so many other great soul singers had a go at it, they felt the same way. Superb.
  4. My copy has the 'honey' productions logo in the top left corner, and i seem to remember seeing a demo along with that logo with the two titles. But only 70% sure. Hope it is of some help John. Andy
  5. Very sorry, must be on the wrong site, thought it was called soulsource. Could go on all night about dance music with an influence. I remember dave evison playing' heatache avenue' by whoever it was at wigan. awefull. Just dont think this site is the correct place for music like that.
  6. Sounds like a cross between bananarama and 'chain reaction' Diana ross. Precious little to do with soul music imo.
  7. Hello Kev Popped to my friends last night and completed your cd. My address is - Hollygrove Barn lane Runham Gt Yarmouth NR29 3EF Regards Andy
  8. Yep, brilliant shout. One of John andersons front page delights during the indie come back period of the early eighties. Love the mood on that one. Think that one was a fiver, when most others on the page were three fifty. They were the days! Andy
  9. Great record Greg!. super vocal and probably recorded between 80 and 84. The strange thing is there actually used to be more gospel or should we say inspirational tracks played on the scene than there is now. I am sure many will remember the Marcus 45 ' love they don't know you' ,very similar in tempo to this and from the same period .One thing for sure in most cases a gospel vocal will be superior. Imo this has absolutely nothing to do with crossover.Check out the Donnie scales 45 from detriot from around this period, now that is a voice! Andy
  10. The copies I have are not in great shape. Can anybody help with an upgrade? Cheers Andy
  11. His influence in the evolution of underground club culture was massive, which in turn paved the way for the appreciation of black American dance music like we have in 2014. Get well soon. Andy
  12. Don't get out any more , so I have little knowledge of what gets played out at northern venues these days. Here is two that gary rushbrook played Chryslers 'not gonna loose you' and the creations 'just remember me' probably one of the most soulfull midtempo's I had the pleasure of hearing there.
  13. HAVING BOTH VERSIONS I TEND TO THINK ITS A MOOD THING . I THINK HAYWOODS VOCAL ON THE CAPITOL RELEASE IS SUPERIOR. HOWEVER THE 20TH CENTURY RELEASE IS A MUSIC MASTERCLASS. ACCEPT THEM FOR THE RECORDING PERIOD THEY ARE FROM. THAT IS HOW I LIKE TO VIEW IT. ANDY
  14. HAVE A SECOND COPY OF THIS, UNFORTUNATLY IT IS CRACKED HALFWAY INTO THE PLAYING SURFACE.PLAYS THROUGH OK ON MY DECK. GREAT CHOICE AND A VERY SOULFULL RECORD. 1O SQUID IF YOU WANT TO TAKE A CHANCE ON IT. JUST POST IT BACK IF IT DOES NOT WORK OUT. ANDY
  15. Unknown oldie? Is this the same as a forgotten newie? sorry just struck me funny.
  16. Given that this record was reviewed as a new release in blues and soul back in the day,You would think it would pop up more often! The slow side is wonderfull.
  17. Brilliant, informative and just the kind of thing this site should have more of. Well done Dave.
  18. GREAT STUFF. I take it they just sold it local and that was it. Was there a follow up in the can?
  19. reminds me of Clarence carters ' can I make it with you' future stars. Artist at serious odds to keep up with the pace of the backing track. very average.
  20. Seem to remember some hdh acetates on ebay about a year to two years ago. Some interesting items if I remember correct. alternate takes and supposedly unnisued stuff. Maybe a dozen in total. However one stuck out for me in that it was a group I had never come across before on any logo and it was excellent group harmony. Can anyone remember this and the name of the group, as I would love to have a link to this track. They sold for between roughly 40 to 300 usd .No funds at the time , so I did not bid. Just out of interest I am sure I have that laura lee 'barking up the wrong tree' on us ariola. Will try to find it. Andy
  21. I have to agree, had that precisions record from soul bowl back in the day ,it was four quid. It was musically inept then, and does not sound any better now. would that track got into a top ten in 1976, hardly there would have been a riot!. unfortunately I sold it before I was able to appreciate the slow side.
  22. The plot thickens. There is another cut on the lp which has the same backing track as cindy & the playmates ' a portrait to gods love' on kemp and credited to s.nesbary . The record infact is almost identical and imo the best uptempo cut on the lp. Andy
  23. Twenty seven years ago. Sorry folks, missed that of the end. Regards TED Best Andy Etheridge
