  1. I would hate to have some guy have his want posted up, for me to then go and look for it in the loft knowing full well I had been trying to shift that turkey for years only for someone being allowed to post up they thought it was crap. causing the prospectve buyer to have a re- think. Bit like trying to shift your old car full of rust and a piece drops off just as they hand over the cash!😒 IMO pretty much everything menshioned is spot on dont rock the boat.
  2. I think it's fair to say that most people who trawled ebay and other sites before Katrina noticed a considerable down turn in the number of quality titles being up for sale or auction from New Orleans , with several of the regular sellers just dissapering or offering up water damaged titles. With so many folks living in single story shotgun houses with 80% flooding of the whole state it was no surprise. Then in 2022 I notice even more copies for sale or auction than I did prior to katrina! how convienient that one of the most well known crossover records that fetches money from New Orleans is reported to have turned up. Whilst not impossible imo it is more likely that folks are getting fooled by something more sinister or it's a minor miracle. Given that this title had been imported in reasonable quantity in the past then a load more have turned up, how ever many did the Senator press?
  3. Yes, I have owned a boot, but to ashamed to pass them on . They will remain in the loft as a momento of my ignorance. Selling them old or new just keeps the thing alive. but I agree in that just a few like me taking a hard line is not going to change anything, but it does make me feel a little better. Bit like a whole heap of other things we do to try and make the world a better place. However I do think banging on about recent bootlegs and what they fetch does prick the ears of those who think, now which one could I do next?
  4. Irrespective of the price this ebay boot sold for, I think the simple disscusion and attemp to justify selling one for a similar or crazy price just helps bootlegers justify their greed to carry on making these turds. Imo starting these threads adds fuel to a blaze that is well and truly out of control. Just because it was a well known boot from 45 years ago does not make any of them less offensive. Make no mistake there are parasites booting something as we speak.
  5. IMO a good soul record sounds much better than any scooter i've heard.🤣
  6. Hey, just a thought, the guy who opens on 'Let's get together' imo sounds a touch like William Hunt on Streamside, another east coast outing, Billy Hunt - William Hunt you can see where i'm going.
  7. Yes Chris, I remember it being in the double sider bracket, like a lot of things it's not been out for a while😉 so thanks for the nudge.
  8. There is also the group on Rondo a Louisville Kentuky set up. 'Be my lady is a great piece of sweet harmony imo and feel lucky to own. They also cut a driving funk track 'Dont go'. I doubt this group are connected either. It would appear there are several projects on major labels that had one off or limited output deals especially with New york and philly producers and writers, this is another example. Probably looking to do or put out another track only if that sold well enough. Brother's Guiding Light would also appear to be just that. Sorry not to be able to shed more light.
  9. MOVED TO SALES Sorry moved to sales
  10. Larry Bailey 'Groove with me/ Thinking about you OK&T 1980 EX+ £300 Boogie one side, but 'Thinking about you' really is a top notch beat ballad/stepper, pretty much mint- really, just a few sleeve marks, plays perfect. Very indemand. Creators 'Just you and me'/ Blame it on me Rca 1980 EX- £200 An old rock city spin with fantastic vocals, but once again it's the flip 'Blame it on me' a haunting group ballad with superb backing. Rudy 'C' ' Didn't I tell you that I love you' Rudy Haynes Music 1988 EX+ £50 Exellent soulfull stepper, hardly ever comes up for sale. once again jusy very faint sleeve marks. Brilliant record.plays perfect. Golden Bond 'I know it's all over' Cain 1969 EX+ £75 Super rare copy on arranger and writer Thomas Cain's own label, for what is a tremendous group record. pretty much mint bar one slight blemish.plays perfect. 12. Apart from trying to find the promo which was around or some time before it got released, that record was never really worth anything unless you had mug stampet on your temple. So it never fails to amaze me why anyone would think making a boot would make them rich!. The logo name was abrieviated and changed in 86 so that design would have no longer been used, unless some silly vintage idear got passed for a re-issue, unlikely I would have thought.
  13. This is an excellent idear. so thanks for your time sorting it. I have misplaced and probably lost one or two copies over time,so this is really welcome. Thanks.
  14. Contacting Roger Meltzer could yield some additional info, as he did writing and production with several Philly acts, Mcfadden & Whitehead, Archie Bell, Thompson Bros, Garfield Flemming etc, but more importantly David Morris. I'm sure Dave would have tried to check him in doing the book,or perhaps Andy Rix.
  15. Yes, perhaps Dave Moore does have a definitive answer to this one. Vince Montana would have been an obvious go to, but sadly no longer with us. As for contacting any of the possible members i'm sure someone on here has some info if hopefully those artists are still with us. Recordshack reissued some David Morris material, think his name is Jorg, he may know.
  16. Good info, but if David morris sung lead on the Mercury 45 and if soul harmony singles info is correct regarding Doug Banks being on the Mercury 45 then only three of the Dreamlovers could possibly be in the group as there are only five in the picture. Just because the Dreamlovers reformed in 1980 does not mean they all sang on the Mercury 45.
  17. Yep, that came from the soul harmony singles it also confirms the excellent info given by the Yank, However there are five in the photo, so maybe some of the Dreamlovers but not all.
  18. Doug Banks was listed as being on the Mercury 45, same guy who recorded on Argo.
  19. He did own up to cheating, so maybe he was with his other woman on Wednesdays just in case she failed to take him back .🤨 Keep your options open and the fire burning!
  20. Sad thing is it will possibly end up with some one who has more fingers than other deep soul 45's, securing the record just because the artist is a northern icon and to wave it at his mates. The lyrical content of both 'BIYMG' and 'Crying clown' ( I happen to prefere the slow version that Ady put out) are just about as good as it gets, not to mention the drama created by that fantastic backing track. Im struggling to understand how any person claiming to be a soul fan is not captivated. Just imagine those two back to back on Miko.
  21. I'ts great reflecting on these topics. Back in the early eightees John Anderson had both Four Voices 45's on his front page 'Ghetto' was £4 and 'Love is getting stronger' i'm pretty sure was £8 certainly no more than £15. I purchased both but quized John regarding the price difference! Dispite the the later title having a more complex arrangement compared to most of the uptempo Detriot bangers being played at the time I always found it a really soulfull record, the flip was nice too.
  22. I personaly think both artists are great, however in my opinion there are thousands of soul singers who on their day have given us some incredible performances. But here's the thing, I bet Mike Terry could have recorded a whole pile of versions of 'What good am i' from other Detroit vocalists and they would, have sounded just as good, say if Sweet James Epps, JJ Barnes, Edward Hamilton were free?, Mr Epps has had the hairs on the back of my neck stand to attention more often than Darrow Fletcher that's for sure. What about if Jerry Ragavoy had brought in Lou Courtney instead to cut 'What about you' or 'Change with the seasons', I reckon it would have sounded just as good. I'ts all about the material and the way the artist weaves his magic on the day.
  23. I would like to think the value lies with in the music in the grooves, not the colour of the label. The colour of the label is my secondary consideration and in reality just an ego trip. When and if it becomes rare on either format I reckon most folks would prefere to have a nice logo to look at. I have a few genuine white label 45's from the 70's & 80's. Althought they are genuine test presses with all the correct run-out etc, I cant stand to look at them.
  24. I hope your comment on the Eight Minutes 'I love you' is not based on the fact the LP is worth £15 and the kemp 45 is around £400 ?. The backing track is the same, the Vocal is near identical. The main difference is the sound quality is far superior on the LP. I have had three copies of the Kemp 45 in the past two were clean, But both the clean copies suffered classic Chicago little logo syndrome (inferior sound quality). It's a nice 45 to have, but I stop when it comes to kiding myself when it comes to listening pleasure. If you can hear something I can't then good luck to ya chap.
