  1. Everytime this record is mentioned I have to smile, I sold a copy years back to a very well known northern soul dj and promoter, it was a good deal both ways so no complaints there. What made me laugh tho' was I went to post it, and on the way back home popped into a local shop and opened up manifesto. The record was proudly sitting at number 1 in his last months 'top nighter dancefloor reaction spins', which was pretty amazing considering it had not even been bought yet alone got to the sorting office at the time of printing lol
  2. its the same recording Russ, just not remixed or sped up. 'Tell the Story' is a house bootleg of 'Jesus Children' by Stevie and Be Be Winans which was the official release. Played it when it came out to much rolling of eyes at the time, one rather well-known soul dj said "is this soul music then?" at the time lol, and to be fair, it's actually not sounding all that good again really for me. The original 12 is great - and check Shirley Caesar's cover which is very good too. This thread is possibly the most absurd thread i've ever read on here. cheers Sutty
  3. never mind the real USA one - what about this lot with money to throw down the pan! lol https://www.raresoulman.co.uk/auction/newli...tionItemID=4014
  4. Most soulful - John Coltrane - Alabama Least Souful - Eric Weissburg - Duelling Banjos
  5. If you're talking about this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zvwTukSKoU it's actually this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xg6ebyhPPOk it's not doctored at all, it's the official 1980 12" release (new recording by same artist) Curtis never did the track. here's the intruders (we'll be here all night with the amount of covers though... cheers Sutty

hi Derek Here it is on a 45, cost me £3, has been discussed on here before, Catch up soon! cheers Sutty
  8. Hi You know they are the same number? as the change was the way numbers were advertised to make them easy to remember. TY is 89 on a telephone keypad, so "DIAL 045 SOUL NOW!" would be 045 7685. Just in case, i'm not sure quite what you're asking about the numbers exactly, but there's no change in the way the numbers work in that example, cheers Sutty

Damien - if the ebay system will let you do it, raise a dispute anyway even if you're out of time. I raised one last year for non-delivery of not much, I think around a £10 record, from an ebay seller and raised through ebay then escalated to paypal. Paypal closed it as out of time. A week or so later I got a £20 credit in my ebay account and a nice mail from them saying my custom was valued so here's some money to spend on my next ebay purchase. It's worth a try if you can get through the system, try contacting ebay explaining your situation outside the dispute system if you can, you can phone them in the UK too if it was a lot of money. Paypal weren't interested but ebay were suprisingly responsive. cheers Sutty

No UK shipping. However, all you have to do is join the Army, as they will SHIP TO AFGHANISTAN and IRAQ! Obviously got more reliable postal systems over there. Muppets. cheers Sutty
  11. To question of all people Kenny Bobien's commitment to a performance or the content of his lyrics (re: his religion) is absolutely laughable. He's a gospel singer who religiously (excuse the pun) attends his church every week, has never got anywhere near making enough money out of music to make a decent living, and is still out there singing out of his love for music and his God. All the comparison's to the people mentioned fail because they were commercially successful artists who had massive hits, if Kenny was only in it for those reasons he'd have given up years ago. Whether the track floats your boat or not is a personal opinion, but to base the fact you might not like it as much as one of his older recordings as questioning his ability or commitment is just ludicrous and insulting to him. I wish there were more like him in the world, it'd be a better place. cheers Sutty

Hi Dave Sold a mint copy for about 90 or a ton I think it went for last summer, took a couple of months to sell, reduced it from about £120. cheers Paul
  14. That's a very good price, it has been going for over twice that. Try and get people at a soul do dancing to Pharoah Sanders lol, REP just gets away with it, although I also prefer the original personally like Andy cheers Sutty

  20. and the album is wonderful, not a duff track on it - 'if i could only prove to you' is 70's soul perfection, you might even like it a little bit Pete lol
  21. thanks for the answers on the dynamics guys, Sam's bonkers selling that! cheers Sutty
  22. I can't see how this applies to this forum or situation? isn't this a clear case that Mike is saying if you are using the forum for personal attacks, pack it in. Seems entirely reasonable, like Mike i've also been running a soul forum for a long while and we have always had a 'no personal attacks' policy. Asking for a member to desist then suspending their account is sometimes the only way to deal with the equivalent of the loud mouthed offensive irritating drunk in the pub who's spoling everyone else night. Of course the drunk blames the person throwing them out and then abuses the pub in general for not wanting to have him around, but that's because some people can't see further than their own nose. Best of luck Mike and all, hope it works out ok, and thanks for the time and effort you all put in to the forum. cheers Sutty
  23. Is Sam still playing Dynamics 'Only A Man'? is it really the Dynamics on Dyna, has anyone else got it, and when is someone going to let the rest of the world be able to play it at home, it's fantastic IMHO
  24. they're all like that Chris, there's no solid centre of the 45, and the other side is even better. cheers Sutty
