I imagine it must have been like sitting on your sofas getting all excited by faded beer-blunted memories of a gig they attended forty years ago , by watching a cheap DVD of a lame modern 'tribute' act having a go at covering songs by a band they are too young to have ever seen live themselves. In other words excrutiatingly sad ... needless to say I neither listened to or watched either debacle. -
Could be the basis for a good door policy first question ... "Did you watch and enjoy the Prom ?" If answer be "Yes" then it's a resounding "best you bugger off somewhere else then" ...

I think you'll find that most of the records out there from the 60s and 70s spent their 'early lives' being played on record players just like that or simple Dansettes , were 'stored' in boxes without sleeves in teenagers bedrooms and generally abused. They were 40c cheap plastic throwaway items essentially , not something that required kid gloves and treating like a piece of precious chinese porcelain.

I'm sticking the whole affair in the same box with the Jubilee NS float ... and burying it in the far corner of the garden hopefully never to be seen again. One word sums it all up for me ... Embarrassing.

It's neither vitriol or hate , it's a series of replies to a question , most of which were exactly as the OP admits he was expecting , i.e. negative ... If you already know the answer to a question why bother asking it in the first place. What with this , the cruise thread and the Proms debacle dominating the forum lately I can fully understand the mass exodus to FB that has occurred and continues ...

Just pleased to see the review clearly state that it was about a scene that flourished from the late 60's to the early 80's ..................... that means it was bugger all to do with the scene that I know starting in '81 at the Wirrina , through Stafford and the 100 Club on to today ...

I don't think it was ever booted as such , there's the Stardust reissue and the 'Vintage Soul' E.P. but that's it as far as I'm aware , no counterfeit lookalike.
