  1. Maybe not just a soul singer but was'nt Sammy Gaha french/canadian? The only one I've heard by him is Thank you, thank you, yhank you on Right On.
  2. Thanks! Just what I needed right now. Have couple of hours before I get on a bus (for 16 hours ) to go home for christmas.
  3. A merry christmas and a happy new year to all the nice peaople here on Soul Source! And a special greeting to my best friend Soulof who's moving to the UK in a couple of days! Take care!
  4. Very nice of you but unfortunately I can't be at the ceremony. Just the excitement and pride I feel right now is more than enough!
  5. My guess: Clara Ward?
  6. But was'nt the Precisions version recorded a couple of years earlier? Strange if he does'nt remember it. Did Drew steal his song before he even could record it and is'nt it the same backing track? The Precisions credits Ashford as the writer but the labels are not always right.
  7. More of Keb's dancing here: /index.php?showtopic=38448 Showing off with some kids!

It's hard to think seeing that avatar of yours, but does it affect the sound or looks of it? If not and if it's just around the edges I know I would'nt care.

I'm sure there is many but one that springs to mind is Connie Laverne - I can't live without you on GSF. Pretty sure there's only demos of that one?

First: O'jays - I'm so glad I found you Last: Chuck Cissel - Don't tell me you're sorry
  11. It's exactly the same for me! Precisions has definately got more soul but Stemmonds Express sounds great on a big system.
  12. You lucky b*****d! I have'nt got any of them.
  13. About two years ago I found a copy of Andy Butler - Sunshine Love on Tangerine in a church charity sale in a small isolated village of about 200 people called L¶v¥nger in the north of Sweden! It was the only soul record in a bunch of garbage, mostly swedish christian 45's.
  14. I can't decide what my favourite 60's sax break is but my favourite 70's is definately in Bobby Boyd's Why Are You Crying. Great song and the sax break just fits in perfect plus it is very, very long!
  15. I think it's from 75 actually. A fantastic song and the flip is also a great gay-song but more funky. Don't know where it first was played but The Mecca and Levine sounds likely. EDIT: Sorry but I was talking about the version by Valentino but Carl Bean is great too!
  16. I bought the unreleased track Am I Imposing by Mixed Emotions on Rock-Way from producer Elijah Cole after reading about it here on the forum. Must say I was very pleased when it arrived an sounded absolutely fantastic! Can't remember who gave the tip but thanks anyway!
  17. I think it was $382 for the first copy he sold on ebay. I know because i bid on it but did'nt win and since then there has been a new copy on ebay about every two to three weeks or so by the same seller. All unplayed. I first heard it on your six-pack a year ago and loved it. Not my usual style but this one is really fantastic!
  18. I'ts on Soulclub. Is this one getting popular again? It wasn't on Soulclub until a couple of months ago and I've seen a lot of them on Ebay from the same seller, the first one went for almost $400!
  19. Sam Dees - Lonely For You Baby has a great clap break. It's great to see new people on the scene instantly joining the clapping after seeing us "veterans" after the first break.
  20. Tragical but funny story! Has anyone got any good pictures of this kind of suit?

I've been into soul since 1996 but went to my first soul night in 1999 when I first moved to a city that actually played soul. I lived in a small town of about 800 people in the north of Sweden for the first 20 years of my life. I'm 28 today. First trip to a soul night in the U.K. was in 2001.

Not soul but a fabulos track from the group who wrote Walk Away Renee which The Four Tops did a great cover version of.
  24. Yes, and espescially when the second issue has a completely different (and better) mix! I think it's way better than the first issue. Would be sad if the only place you can hear it is at home. How much is this second issue worth? Can't remember seeing one for sale so it must be pretty rare as well?
  25. I've recorded all my 45's to my computer but it's just not the same thing as playing them on your turntable. Only listen to the mp3's when I'm alone but when ever I have friends at my place it's strictly vinyl. Just can't beat the feeling!
