  1. i know the first friday allniter was feb 76 anyone know when these went mid monthly?? trying to work something out ,,, thanks in anticipation I think it was 1978 when they went bi-monthly & I'm pretty certian the first one was a Twisted Wheel revival, followed by Torch revival, then a nighter dedicated to early Wigan sounds, I remember going to a Motown nighter too & think they also had a combined Stax, Atlantic, Motown bash. Hope this helps Mark. mark
  2. A friend of mine (Daz Parker) who was on the Soul Scene at the time, was faced with a choice. Washing machine/Staffordshire Bull Terrier? He wisely chose the latter option but didn't get it all his own way & had to compromise by calling the beast Hotpoint.
  3. My dog was always going to be called Thelma (Jones, Houston, Lindsey, record label etc.) but at the time Daisy seemed to suit better, still think it does so Thelma's her middle name. PS She can't dance, but can do a spin.
  4. My dog's in Oliver tonight at Rotherham Civic Theatre.
  5. Anyone see that one which finished just now - guy said it was original, looked all the world like the first boot, Mick Smith and John Anderson both also reckon it's a boot, and it went for £160 or something like that. A true original would have fetched £600. The seller was emailed and made aware of the fact but ignored it. A complete disgrace. I've got one exactly the same, bought brand new over the counter from a shop, they had a cardboard box with about 50 identical others in & the price was 99p in 1976. A couple of people have sworn blind it's an original when going through my box & wouldn't have it at first when told it wasn't. It has a monarch stamp on the run out & according to the matrix number it was pressed in the 70's. Mark.
  6. Ray Pollard Emanuel Laskey
  7. Johnny Wyatt - I Wouldn't Change A Thing - Challenge demo, I'm ever so pleased with this. Tis gorgeous Becky You're in trouble again young lady!!!
  8. wanted: Patti Drew - Stop And Listen on CAPITOL if anybody got a copy please let me know Theres one on ebay, item number 4814965385 bidding starts at £30 I think, bit pricey but a stunning underplayed record. Mark.
  9. Worst floor filler ever without question - Frank Wilson - Do I Love You Out and out pop record. Antellects pure class, and not difficult to dance to, even at my advanced years. Martyn At last, someone else who doesn't like Frank Wilson's Do I love you. Sounds like a pop record to me too, think the hype that this record's created is more to do with the venue it was first played at & the era it was played in. Mark I like the music of Jim Reeves & Matt Munro a lot more, honest.
  10. Turn it over and play the other side.
  11. The other side of the Spinners "Truly Yours," is "Where is that girl," & is well worth a listen.
  12. Only ever went there a couple of times, once for a nighter the other time for an all ticket affair, The Harlem Shuffle, it was called, I think. They had a couple of Harlem Shuffle do's there, they were great nights & packed to the rafters. They were all ticket affairs & sell outs, me & my mate actually printed the tickets and added a tiny bit to them, the words "no riff raff," knowing full well that virtually all present would be indeed be "riff raff." Don't think the promoter saw the funny side.
