I have already converted all my oddfellows tapes to cd. Just have no idea how to put them on soul source so everyone can enjoy.. some of them are recorded through the decks and are great to listen to

Great memories, I was stood behind the camera man along with Dave Wheeler in his hi-vis orange dungarees as Keb played it. And as we went back to the main room Ally caught Dave for an interview (which can be seen on the video) and i ran off paranoid lol Before he could collar me lol.. always brilliant how we remember certain things in our lives lol

Always been one of my favourite records. I have a cassette of oddfellows 1st anniversary where Gary Rushbrooke introduces it as the embers , playing the part of the fool before Stafford recorded feb 1983 , if anyone can help i would love to post it for everyone to listen to but have no idea how to ( have it in cd format). Also I have the acetate that keb had cut with the Delcos on the flip. Will dig it out and post a picture when I get time . As always great to read all the posts with snippets of information

The Skull Snaps — Wax Poetics Article and interview
Greedy Mick replied to Scotters's topic in All About the SOUL
Brilliant read , thanks for posting, it's one of my favourite albums. It's one of the few albums that I can play both sides through and through again and again. Love all of a sudden can't believe that it wasn't massive on the northern scene -
Thanks mate, these were the ones I had seen, a lot of faces I recognise but can't put names to. A few of them looked like a few soulies I knew in mablethorpe, but it's a long while ago so I might be wrong.

Would love to hear it.

I have looked at the photos in the gallery on soul source. But I was wondering if anyone has any more that have not been posted.. I have great memories of the 1980's niters there and would love to see any photos if you have any

Thanks Ken, I was interested to see what the specials fetched as out of the 3 releases this seems to be unknown to many

Does anyone know what the results were of the last auction at Anglo American??

How much would it cost to get a copy of twelve 76 on critique ? Many thanks Mick

It was a close call for me. Love Susan Rafey's version cause it takes me back to the early 80s. But little Anthony puts so much emotion in his singing it wins hands down

Back in the mists of time someone said that Freddie Chavez was the lead singer of the checkers lack of love.. don't remember where or when.. Personally I can hear similarities of the singer between the following 3 records They'll never know why/Baby I'm sorry Freddie Chavez Make up your mind Dave Norman And lack of love Thee Checkers. To me it sounds like the same person especially on the Checkers lack of love and Baby I'm sorry, Freddie Chavez But these are the only 3 records I have on this label so not 100% sure. And I have always loved Baby I'm sorry. Massive record at the oddfellows

Where did you first hear these tunes?
Greedy Mick replied to Chris Turnbull's topic in Look At Your Box
At all-niters? Sorry couldn't resist -
I've been asked about this so many times but I've never put it in writing.. I've been into Northern since I was a young lad. First niter May 1980 as a 15 year old and went every week until 1987 when I met and started dating someone who was to become my wife and mother to my sons. ( enough of that) I stopped going to niters after we bought our first house in 1988 and as we were saving for our wedding I almost stopped going anywhere soul orientated. But we used to love going to car boot sales, I occasionally found the odd motown or soul records but nothing exciting until March 1989 when we were at a car boot in Oadby, Leicestershire and I saw a record box with a piece of card sticking out saying "soul 45's" I thought to myself, yeah whatever and proceeded to have a look, there were 11 records of only which there was only 1 that I knew, which was jimmy Norman, you know I'm in love on little star, so I asked the grey haired old gentleman how much for all 11 and he said £5 so I bought them all. Once I got home I played jimmy Norman and then the rest of them one by one thinking wow these are good until I dropped the stylus on mac staten and the nomads there she goes on prelude.. now you have to remember at the time this was butch's Bobby Angele cover up.. it was just like the moment in the film when he uncovers the Salvadors I was swearing and dancing around the front room thinking f##£ing hell. I got told off for swearing too much lol but I was lost for words. The next day I took it to show Rudzy in his shop in Leicester and he was as astounded as I was.. Among the 11 records were Mac staten there she goes Jj Jackson let the show begin Pat Clayton someone else's turn Jimmy Norman I know I'm in love Sophisticates back up baby 4 others on little star star by jimmy Norman and Dorothy Berry and one on tjx which I can't remember off top of my head.. and 1 other which is eluding me at the moment. Now here is the really interesting thing, I saw the chap at another car boot about 3 weeks later and told him I loved the records and asked him if he had any other records and where did he get them. His reply was that during the 60s he worked at an American airbase in Cambridgeshire and the airmen used to bring all these 45's with them and left them behind when they left and as he liked soul and motown they used to give them to him.. I asked him if he had any more, his reply was sorry I sold loads of them and you had the last few.. To this day I wonder what else he had that he had sold and that someone had no idea what it was. Regards Mick.

Think there was one in record sales 2 or 3 weeks ago, can't remember the seller, might be worth you scrolling through a couple of pages,
