  1. Can you imagine the shock for the two guys sent to prison. This must be unprecedented for such a crime and I bet they thought they would get a small fine. From the articles I have seen it doesn’t say if all four were manufacturing as well as selling - Maybe the two who received suspended sentences were just selling, but in bulk. There are hundreds of people selling bootlegs on eBay and other sites who must be sourcing from a number of similar people who actually do the repressing and now will need to seriously reconsider their activities. Copyright infringement/license fraud is a massive business, but record booting is only a very small part, albeit increasing over recent years. It would be interesting to know which of the media/music companies were active in this case or whether it was mainly driven by the BPI. I will try and get a copy of the Court case files as we have very little detail so far. I have never booted a record but of course have bought many over the years as most of us will have. Why have an original £1000+ record on your 1958 juke box for example.... Of course we all would like to think decent royalties have been paid to the artists and their estates hence praising the likes of Kent, Grapevine and other legitimate companies. In reality this doesn’t happen as much as we would like for many reasons of which booting is one and at last may be taking a downturn.
  2. Hi. After one of these on stock Kapp. One on discogs but from US and a bit expensive. Cash paypal or trade for nice copy please. PM Paul T
  3. Hi TLS. Unless they did this as a one off promotion, that is not it’s birth sleeve. Give or take a decade or so. If it had been released in the uk in the 60ts then it would have been its birth sleeve. It’s still the first issue in uk so fine. Also the orange tmg sleeve is still nice. Orange was the first TMG sleeves which went very nice with the rnw demos, then khaki/brown which went ok with the gnw demos. Shouldnt affect your sale as it’s the vinyl which counts. PT
  4. Fascinating John. Great to see Bettye Swann, Ruby Andrews, Linda Jones right up there and we thought we helped “to discover them”. Likewise Artistics and Fantastic Four pre Motown. Yes 1966 and 67 great soul years PT
  5. One of my early mentors, as he was to so many. Very sad. I’ll miss you buddy. Thoughts to Val. X Paul Temple

  8. Does anyone have a 70s lookalike red Impact boot please. I just never got round to buying this beauty and now an original is $1k.... Cash or trade. Pm please. Paul Temple
  9. Is the soul set same as Levon and the hawks. Can’t find it in Discogs or YouTube. Cheers. Paul ps Love that chino - great track.
  10. Ps I also had a series of TIAs over three years ago. Now fully recovered as long as I take the pills as so many people do. So you may not need to sell after all - just in case......
  11. You didn’t say if your demo is the GnW or RnW. Stateside issued both as it was right on the cusp of them changing their colours like all EMI distributed labels such as Motown Columbia etc. The RnW is more valuable by at least £100. Both will get lots of buyers though through auction eBay also ok but would agree JM is the best Fantastic record - sorry to hear you have to sell. Pail T
  12. Ps I’ve just noticed my cocks turned black. Or am I dyslexic.... at least by one hour!
  13. That’s a great idea Robb ( esp as you’re retiring). Sort of a retirement home for old soulless. Presumably the museum warehouse has decks and booths and coffee bar where we can all chill and spend hours talking matrix numbers and alternate versions. I can just envisage it and others where we bring our golf buggies laden with donations (no motorised shopping carts/ electric wheel chairs for us) and have all dayers. The museum could have a sales room for old or double stock and artisans could do record framing to boost income. Maybe convert an old barn for Airbnb. I’d like to apply for assistant curator........
  14. Not the same track but on a theme....... worth a listen nice xover
  15. I bought I travel alone Lou Ragland (all 2 minutes of it) off pat Brady for £1000 at cleethorpes and had of course to put it on credit card. Within five minutes the misses was on the phone - the credit card co had called home to check it was valid. Always owned up since..........
  16. JM deserves great credit for his pioneering longstanding dealing and authorship. He gets top prices as he has many of the best records as well as a world wide distribution and strong sales PR comments. Doesn’t always work though and it is a very fair auction process imho.
  17. Great research and pics John. B&B does it for me. PT
  18. Have a very nice copy (ex label and vinyl) of Reggie Soul and the Soul Swingers - My World of Ecstasy/Mighty Good Loving on Capri 11712. 1968.
