In 1968 ,I saw the Showstoppers perform on their first UK tour on the back of "Houseparty" at The Peppermint Lounge Club in Fraser Street Liverpool,. Comprising of Soloman Burkes 2 Sons and another pair of Brothers . They where very polished and professional and great Vocal harmonies and slick dance moves ,particularly on their rendition of the Artistics "Im Gonna Miss You". Milton Samuel who created the UK Beacon lable licensed the release of "Houseparty " for the princely sum of £30!! It was a Top 10 hit in Uk and very popular in Europe , not so in the US. I Saw them again at the wheel in 71 now signed to Jerry Ross and his Heritage lable this group apparently where the Persuaders as the original line up was no more. I can not say if this is true, as my observational powers at the time where somewhat limited.

Like me in Spain you are subject to EU rules ,the Uk left the Club in January 2021, This is how it works .You buy a £5 or £50 record From non EU ,UK } on discogs they add 21 % on the total invoice at purchase, including the postage figure { 21 % the rate for Spain or Belgium?} the British seller declares a lower ,Correct , higher value ,a Gift even! on the CN 22 form it is shipped to eu Country with seller paying postage at the uk rates. Now the fun starts it arrives at Customs at Spain or Belgium , the import duty starts at around £6 { there is a scale of limits but customs ignore this and your declared value, and pick a Figure out of the air ] . I have complained to the spanish Correos { Post office } The answer all, packages have to be checked now Smuggling ,etc there is no free movement it takes time and money. Since my complaint I have had a pack of 15 paper repro 7 inch sleeves from Big boppa records ,correct declared value o£15, held in customs at Barajjas Airport Madrid for 4 weeks demanding ,proof of purchase ,Paypal Visa receipts ,Sellers name ,manufactures name ,and a copy of my EU residencia Card to check if they are for Business, /Education or pleasure! I am not at a moaning Killjoy maybe just unlucky ., and maybe some parcels will get Through at correct valuation and shorter Admin times .
