Parisians/traditions-Twinkle Little Star?
Parisians every time for me regardless of rarity. Just an observation "Traditions" wasn't included on Kent's CD KEND 121 Abet/Excello "Uptown down South".

Can anyone tell me the track?
The Hamilton Movement - She's Gone.......a truly wonderful track too.

Uk record shops doc
Great to hear Les is still going in Chorlton after all these years. It must be 20 odd years since I last visited his shop. Picked up some nice stuff over the years at extremely good prices too. He used to keep a box behind the counter with the slightly better stuff in but you had to ask for it.

Uk record shops doc
It's a fabulous insight into black music/record shops genres from the early days. My first experience was Ralphs in Manchester but by the time I got there all the good stuff had been hoovered up by the big guns in town. I had to settle for the odd Golden World/Rictic/Motown single. Ralphs may have sold other stuff I can't remember. But for me it was Soul record shop.

AI Soul anyone?
Its poor to my ears as is everything else on the their YT channel. Looks like its creeping out though. I've already seen a playlist from a "Playlist Group" on FB featuring a Riker track.

All nighter scene 'up north'
Up north for me it was all over after the Rarest Of The Rare allnighters at the Ritz. It was a fabulous and historically great northern venue. With the crème del a crème of DJ’s and sounds. No funk and no work around sounds just the best of the best proper northern soul. Great crowd and lots of records for sale and even the bar was open! After that in my opinion nothing touched it up north.

Pat Brady's Talk Of The North
Some great memories for me in those three editions Chalky. Guy's assessment of The Showstoppers was spot on. I remember watching them from the balcony near M's. It was also the first time I bought a record in the record bar. Tightrope on a Dynamo Demo off Soul Sam I was all excited about getting that at the time. The oldies/newies thing referred to really frustrated me back then. As there was still lots of oldies I'd never heard so as a newbie it was a real learning curve. Within a year or so I'd definitely made my bed in the 60's newies camp and it's still there. Many thanks for sharing. Dave

AI Soul anyone?
The tunes played on Dean's show were absolutely mega. Does anyone know which aspects of the tracks is actually AI?

looking for this amazing track...
There must have been a glich on that link yesterday. When I clicked on it, it was a video of Levanna dancing with a guy to Aaron Fraser. Now it's a music only clip of what is being discussed here. The singer sounds white to me with a style of 68/72 period. Google AI doesn't find a match either.

looking for this amazing track...
Sounds like Aaron Frazer "Easy To Love" speeded up

Tommy hunt or chuck jackson
I commented on the YT clip thinking it sounded like Dean Parrish. Whoever it is, it's mega!

Nick Cowan BBC Merseyside Short Clip
Thanks for that. All the memories came flooding back and he played a good selection too. I met Nick a few times at Warrington Carlton club. He was the first DJ I heard play Terry Callier Look at me now. I went running up to him from the bar to see what label it was on. I also met him at Sutton Con Club the venue he mentions in the show. I can even remember a few tunes from that night Frankie and Johnny and that Lesley Gore thing.....I know we are in love????. Never heard of him or seen him since Wigan.

Classic Compilation Soul Albums with DJ Sleeve Notes
A few more for your list:- The PRT/Nightmare album The Motor Town Sounds of Detroit has extensive sleeve notes by author Sharon Davis. The album has lots of Levine credited songs on it. I need a magnifying glass to read them on mine lol. A couple of my Sounds Superb albums the ones with unissued Motown tracks also have extensive sleeve notes The Supremes "Baby Love and Stevie Wonder's "Uptight" but no indication who wrote the notes. If it's your bag (modern) the Soul Togetherness albums too. Richard's write up on the back of the 2004 album cover being another in-depth write up. I've just grabbed this one out too Soul Supply's late 80's The Northern Soul Story double album Vol 5. Not great sound quality but in-depth sleeve notes. There is lots of these with rare tracks on.

Classic Compilation Soul Albums with DJ Sleeve Notes
That's the one. There is a similar Goldmine one called This is Northern Soul GSCD14 with different tracks and a small Tim Brown write up. For me the Kent CD's take some beating for sleeve notes like Wishes, LA Happening and Old Town and Barry Souls Stirrers. The Joe Boy mini CD five tracks leading with Dearly Beloved and ending with Johnny Maestro. Also has an good write up presented by Ginger.

Classic Compilation Soul Albums with DJ Sleeve Notes
The ABC Out On The Streets Again was my first album that had out and out Northern Soul on it as oppose to Motown. Other than the ones already mentioned wasn't there a Record Collector album with notes from Kev Roberts? I seem to recall there was a Pie International album too with Scepter/Wand stuff that had sleeve notes?

Oak Records UK & R G Jones Studio facts about the acts
There was an article in RC many years ago 90's I think about the Oak label. I dont think I kept that one, sorry. The only memorable part of it I recall was lot's of the stock (singles) ended up in a skip outside either the studio or pressing plant.

Best intro
The Construction, Frank Beverly ITWYW, Blanche Carter, The Jades though is my number one

Who is bricomaligno?
If that's Hesketh Meadow Lane Lowton? It was a fabulous venue across the board a room for every taste. Saw my legend there singing "You Just Cant Walk Away" what a night. Dont remember Brico tho but then again I wouldnt would I ?

How do you define a collector?
That pretty much sums my curent status. Except I only sold about 50 or so singles in the early noughties and still have a collection. As far as playing them I usually play my 12inch jazz funk/ or digital now at home. Always on the look out for things Ive not heard before on line from 60's to now. I dont miss buying 45's at all it was way to stressful Lol.
