Always like a challenge when there's fixing involved... not managed to stop this skipping yet though. Need a microscope methinks. Time will pass me by ; )
  2. My mate, Ped, aka "Johnny two shirts" hates it when the DJ talks over the track. So l do the promos and requests, deds, etc quickly in between. Keep 'em dancin'.
  3. Amazing. (When goalies caught the ball too.) Thanks : )
  4. A side vocal B side instrum No Smoking 😉😆
  5. Wish l didn't miss you. 🎶Classic. Just don't know what's gonna happen next. 😥 ktf
  6. Sad. I only played a birthday shout-out for her last week (10th.) We are reaching the end of an era... a wonderful musical era.😥

Will they be live on TOTP? (Joke) Now, just discussing, as we're too busy dancing when we're out. Live gigs is where the money isso l guess most popular genres will likely abstain? To me only the NS genre can do this as the 60s stuff we love is past performing be it age or passing and it's the 45s we love. This vid is pretty new. lf you fancy a go at it just visit one of the many apps online, put in a few lyrics and a genre and see what comes out. Then all you need is a NS sounding name...Solomon & the Berks? (No offence) Peter Kay would have a ball with this. Tin hat is firmly in place. 🤣
  9. As teenagers early 70s we were learning to dance to amazing soul records whose titles we could only guess and could only hear at the do. We copied the moves off the best. We didn't have alcohol to caress. We were hungry for dancing. Nowadays we still attend the soul nights, indeed dj-ing when asked, but now nights are fewer. And there's alcohol to distract. My knees are beginning to moan at me when l crouch to fill the woodburner affecting dancing. Any record you could wish to hear is on youtube or internet radio shows, of which I do two. Covid and lockdown certainly changed the social world. The Northern Soul movie ten years ago sparked a revival with a new generation but, as with us in the 70s, they are now couples moving on with their lives. Ktf... the music will last forever coz it's amazing. There's always someone with amazing energy who will save it. AM
  10. I seem to remember the movie Northern Soul 2014 regenerating the scene and helping create Wigan young souls up at Highfield. A whole new generation of hungry, record searching, dancing younghearts... a way of life. We are lucky...ktf
  11. At least you knew about it. Dozy me, full of the joys of Art at St Martins, totally missed the opportunity and I was in the West End for 4 years 1990-94. I'll get to 100 club one day. Anyway, thanks for a great post. Really enjoyed it.
  12. What a shock. Sooo sad. Real nice guy. RIP 😥

Great news. I have many tales re record deliveries from left on step (some) then nicked to pushed through open window dropping 2.5m onto floor after just missing crystal vase on window sill, slotted under adjacent shared ginnel door (ready for stepping on) and slotted into the gap between door and casing in full view of passers by. And to the wrong neighbour never to be seen again. Ah never mind. Not a 2g 7" rarity thankfully. 🎶💃🕺
  15. Some may ask... Shouldn't it be in London above The Soul City shop? 🤔 (lf it's still there.)
  16. Make sure it's well attached. The "Mr M's" plaque in Wigan was stolen.
  17. Here's some bits. Should be good later. Some original oldies from Leonard I guess.
  18. A record played at home usually sounds unrecognisable from the same monster sound at a do. That's a major reason to go to a do. Clapping togetherness too. Where's the scene going? Up and down as previously l guess. A gap to refresh your saturated listening buds. There'll always be the dancing. At Wigan we all faced the stage and could see the cool moves of others in front and ,over time, put these moves into your own dancing. There was no beer at Wigan. I guess clubs need the cash from the £3.90 a pint but that might be a factor to consider when people choose to leave their nests? Fingers crossed there are enough clubs survive to put on a do in the future. I'm off to a do 2nite at Worsley Mesnes where Russ is on verses the young-uns. Sounds fun. Ktf
  19. It just ain't soul bro. Soz.
  20. It isn't easy to prize folk out of their post-covid comfy couches these days. Good luck though. From my mate's observation at the Royal Albert many of the crowd where new to northern. Fingers crossed.
  21. Thanks. ✊🎶🕺💃
  22. I've not seen it on lp. My mate's got it on 7". I believe there was a prob with boots a few years ago? On tv about it?
  23. Great night. Derek n Froggy's shared birthday... awesome cake Phil Threlfall spot right up my street. Ktf Alan M
