  2. My apologies The Washington Post must have been mistaken https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/local/2001/01/26/singer-songwriter-phil-flowers-sr-dies-at-66/1933a8fa-618f-45c0-8da1-7c1210f92da7/
  3. I am new to this site and found this thread and thought would add some info to help Phil Flowers' wife was Frances (they divorced) and their son was called Richard who passed in the late 1980's

  6. I don't know if this helps https://www.45worlds.com/book/publisher/black-wax-publishing
  7. I retired from DJ'ing some time ago and my advice is based on the policy IMHO of the gig/s you are intending to play at. I have seen DJ's sent home from abroad for playing bootlegs and heard of records being removed from turntables (and smashed) (not that you would consider them anyway) so it is and always be a risky subject. Check with who is running any event and play to the policy of the the promoters.....simple
  8. Funny comment Details about here Country singer whose 1977 #7 hit cover song "Two Doors Down" was originally sung by Dolly Parton. Before Fame She made her performance debut alongside her family when she was seven years old. Trivia She was named Nevada's Entertainer of the Year for seven years in a row after she relocated to Reno. Family Life Her parents and two brothers performed with her and went by the name The Lehr Family in the late 1950s.
  9. I remembered the other day Soul Sam spinning this 1973 tune and was interested in it's history It "appears" that the label was owned by the Cleveland music promoter Marty Conn who has been involved with some amazing people, as I found when doing some web searches (Check out the Marvin Gaye Disc he has on his wall !!!!) https://www.clevelandseniors.com/people/mconn.htm https://www.martyconnentertainment.com/aboutMarty.htm The backing orchestra Billy Lang Orchestra of which Billy was a trombone player (I could only find this link which shows his connection to the label and Marty Conn) https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=1989+PRESS+PHOTO+TROMBONIST+BILLY+LANG&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjSvsTIyb7lAhXUtXEKHQFnBX0Q_AUIESgB&biw=2556&bih=1273#imgrc=G7yyYrypKfs9jM If anyone else can supply any info please that would be great (and a copy for £50 😀) maybe a re-issue if someone on here wants to contact the company ?

  14. I am new to this site and found these comments on the web and would be interested in any more thoughts as it was also reported that LeBaron had taken some masters from Ric Tic with him when he moved and connection to "The Debonaires" "Detroit disc jockey LeBaron Taylor left Detroit in the late 1960's, joining Philadelphia station WDAS in the position of general manager, whereupon he met Liz Bacone. Ms. Bacone had written ‘Please Don’t Rush Me’ recorded by Kenny Gamble for his Gamble label in 1968 on the Baby Dolls. When Bacone’s husband was shot in a gang war, Taylor came to the family’s aid." A CD of Bacone Records has just been released. Maybe they know
