  1. "And the next one on the decks needs no introduction....." Which is just as well really. Bin it. ROD
  2. Im finding all this ribaldry over a mere 7" too much to swallow. Bumping is one thing. Grinding will be next. Topic locked. You are all grounded and dont let me catch you round the bikesheds. ROD [Forum Moderator]
  3. It was me that first raised this. It came about cos a friend of mine was going to bid on one of the items in the current auction. He checked Popsike for some idea of a going rate and then noticed that the wording of the ad on Popsike and the picture were identical to wording and picture in current Ebay ad. He told me. I have looked at 5 titles in all and compared. They are the same on Popsike and current Ebay ad. The previous Ebay ads which appear on Popsike all finished on 17th September 2012. I just wondered how this can happen. Are you not interested in that, Mike ? ROD
  4. I get that Carl. So someone let him down with those bids but at close of auction Popsike took note of bids. Good explanation? But Jackey Beavers too. All seem to have finished on 17th. Maybe he withdrew all? Looks like they were cancelled but I wonder why. Was there a problem with Ebay site back then? ROD
  5. Checked another Grant. Sandi Sheldon listed on Popsike too as selling at £598 on 17 September. Maybe previous auction got screwed up ? ROD
  6. Mate just popped round. He noticed these 45s on Ebay. He also noticed ads for same records as sold on Popsike in September of this year. Pics and wording identical. I checked out Dynamics, Earl Jackson and Lou Ragland and confirmed it to be correct. Any thoughts? ROD
  7. Im thinking that people are so used to seeing rubbish being sold on Ebay as Northern that when some actual Northern comes up they're surprised. ROD
  8. My fault. I just merged his ads. It was "65 Bars" ROD [Forum Moderator]

  10. Locked this. If there are concerns about shill-ing for Ebay ads, open a topic. If you have an interest in Hopkins final sale price, open a topic. This appears to be an ad wanting a 45. ROD [Forum Moderator]

  12. Its good. Its on YT. ROD
  13. I bought the pair off Richard back in early 80's. My informed guess is that Anderson got them from a dj in Chicago. When my memory returns I'll give dj's name. A blank right now. He made records. Not Rodney E. Jones. ROD PS Lucky Cordell
  14. Your ad has attracted some comment. If at all possible [ie you know a boot from an original]it would be better for you to add that to some of the items listed such as Ronnie McNeir and Ernest Mosley. Think I counted 46 where it wasn't evident if original or not. Im assuming NOT because there are a lot of re-issues and boots in there. It also would be a good idea if you introduced youself by posting in Freebasing section. I think that would help to sell your records if people had some idea of who you were and your background. I'd also grade the records either individually or as a job lot. I have sent you a PM but you appear not to have read it. ROD [Forum Moderator]
  15. Didnt mean to sound casual. Something I'll never forget. ROD
  16. Ron Tyson was in the group. He turned up at my stall with Melvin Franklin and Otis Williams one afternoon in the 90's when Temps were on in Manchester. I played him his "Standing in the darkness" and gave him his Love Committeee LPs on Salsoul and MCA/T Electric as he didn't have copies. ROD
  17. I thought this was a Carolina label. Must have read it somewhere. Always strikes me that if it is then it sounds Detroit. Yet "Its better to cry" on Sport sounds like a Carolina thing. IMO of course. ROD
  18. Im with Manus and Russ. Its the bier next so enjoy yourself. ROD

Are you not all wrong? If earlier demos are known as "red and white" then Hoagy is "white and green". Red being the colour of the "A" in earlier series and "white" in later series. Its a good job there is someone on here who knows what he's talking about. ROD

I've got a copy Julian. Wouldn't say stone Mint though. Around EX. As good as Sam Dees I sold you to give you an idea. A very good offer could secure. ROD
  24. In the wants guidelines the following advice appears If members do not want comments to appear within the ad then lock the topic and ask for all responses to be via PM. If the topic is not locked then members are asked to restrict their comments to those which may help to locate the item. Any wider discussion can be accommodated by opening a new topic in LAYB. Have I written this in Latin? Are the people posting on here devoid of comprehension? Locking the topic. ROD [Forum Moderator]
  25. Bootlegging records is an occupational hazard for djs and collectors. I accept that. That seems to revolve around value though not as much in today's scene. Those who put out material illegally should be prosecuted. People who buy bootlegs I have no objections. Its their choice. I've got "He who picks a rose" J.Ruffin myself. I can understand that someone without the say £15,000 to buy these records if even available and who liked them will be quite pleased to get them. I dont think the term "destroyed" will be uppermost in their minds. ROD
