  1. As has been mentioned before , a certain individual came out with " there are no more , they've all been discovered" & pursued a career of tailer mades and crap , since then approx 1975 there has been hundreds of discoveries, and as the tempo has slowed and with the acceptance of varying types of soul music , long may it stay original,. AI is just another form of tailer made surely
  2. I know I've posted this before cheap as chips, but determined to one day get it to play , the track looks OK .
  3. Completely random nothing similar , then out of the blue ,Terry Callier, Ordinary Joe , Morrisons Kidderminster must have the machine on permanent random ?
  4. Talking of Daughters , our's decided to phone home at 2:30 am a few years back , whilst attending an all-night rave to tell me she was in the chill out room with a few mates , and how chuffed she was ( having been brought up in a home with Northern always in the background) that she recognised Frank Wilson & none of her mates had a clue what it was . Relieved it was nothing serious ( hiding my annoyance at being woken at such an ungodly hour ) thanked her for sharing it with me & went back to bed , when I told the missus who had also been woken by the phone ringing who & why she responded " That's your fault" .
  5. Grand Slam of darts , tonight finished with , Curtis Mayfield - Move On Up , Sky Sports
  6. Are we talking the Latintones here ?
  7. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/404375370819?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=HdAPYFyfSHq&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=XjYASWgLRuy&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY Nothing to do with tomorrows auction, just found this full page advert from 1975 Melody Maker , can't recall ever seeing before , or if Blues & Soul or Black Music magazine ran the same advert April 75 .
  8. Can't really say without knowing size and provenance, I have a half size copy purchased a few years ago from the late Francis Tee Rip , for a mere £5. obviously a copy , but looks exactly the same with the curled up corner etc , just wish I'd nicked a copy on my way out in the morning, , A night to remember Betty was absolutely brilliant and so to the band , who for whatever reason I thought they where The Nite Lighters , maybe because they opened up or warmed up with K jee .
  9. Morning Mal, Pm sent , Dave
  10. Someone bagged a bargain , it's been sold . It is still after all a bloody great tune , just a shame that some one took advantage .
  11. There's a copy of the Smith Bros./ Simon Barbee for sale on eBay at the moment for a mere £14. If anyone looking for a copy , now we no they don't jump. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/315887197208?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=yrcpe4qaqei&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=XjYASWgLRuy&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
  12. If they where handed out at the 39th Anniversary, no extra copies ? Then why did every seller on eBay & shops have them at a reasonable price , some still do ranging from £15 . upwards , I played Simon Barbee,The wind , the other night didn't notice any jump or skip .
  13. What about the Smith Brothers ?
  14. And there lies the problem, they whoever they may be , want to make as much money as possible before being caught out , then they'll more than likely dump them at £3 to £6 each on the ebay sellers ,to sell on say £15 to £ 20, once the cat is out of the bag . It's happened before I'm afraid.
  15. Ever since " Northern Soul" became a genre , if that's the correct description, we have been subjective, persuaded, coursed, into buying alternative releases sometimes cheaper than the original releases , sometimes not . Why , because there are greedy bastards out there that don't give a f**k about us, the scene , the artists , writers , publishers or copyrights .I've even found bootlegs , rebooted , reissues booted & sold for more than the originals in some cases , why , because there is a demand , it's like buying stolen goods on the high street , it should've been stopped and the Law enforced years ago , no market no bootlegging or in this case no extortion. Rant over , just had 5 hrs in the man cave , playing through my Kent collection on various labels , anniversaries, Select , Town , Pied Piper , Deep Soul , Repro , Eps playing both A & B sides 45s only no albums , don't think I played half of them to be honest , just like to say thanks to Ady & the Kent team for a fantastic evening of great music.
  16. It could be an awful lot more , look how many Smith Brothers , Things etc are on sale now on eBay at various prices , & I've seen openly 20 plus copies at once in a record shop . So probably more copies on the black market than was given out on the night by Ady .
  17. It's more than likely, whoever pressed them in the first place , pressed more than where ordered, held them back for a week or two , waiting for the annual rush to buy a copy , and then slowly etc etc , selling them through closely linked sources , but not their own , or am I just being over suspicious?
  18. Criminal , what a bloody wonderful tune , Eddie (I think it's him ) says in the build up , they've fallen out with Leroy Hutson, then later says not on Acid Jazz anyway. Come on guys kiss & make up !!

Someone here in the UK must have a video taken at a venue , with Sam Fletcher playing & a packed dance floor , from the last 40 + years it's been played on the Northern scene , they could possibly upload ( not the WC doctored one from YouTube )
  20. Never heard it out & about back in the 70s , or later , wouldn't be surprised if Ms Shifrin never took a copy home either .
