  1. Theres a forum (which I cant remember at the moment) where it shows you how to make one
  2. Your last post reminded me that the same thing happened to me about a year ago, when I too bought an LP from the States. I also questioned the seller and there was a small stamp or something on the package showing (hardly noticeable) that insurance had been purchased.
  3. The handling charge is primarily their fee for paying the duties owed on your behalf as HMRC doesn't allow you to pay them directly.
  4. So sad for someone to die so young. One of the great things about Bob, was that he was a firm believer in making the artists and music come first. RIP Bob
  5. I'm not defending the seller, but are they a private or business seller? You should ask them for a breakdown of their packaging costs. I sold a few things on ebay and got some lower comments on my P&P even though I was doing at my cost price (give or take a penny or two). There a lot of buyers (previously including myself) who assume packaging costs such as unused mailers, stiffeners and tape cost peanuts, they aren't expensive but if you buy them in small quantities the cost if individual items do add up compared to sellers who buy these in bulk.
  6. A while back, I remember someone saying its a pitched up version of Denise Lasalle. Don't know if there's any truth in that as I cant remember hearing it.
  7. The two LP's only share two tracks "Sweet Way Of Loving" & "You Don't Care"
  8. Thats why I think all these who played it first threads are rubbish. What people are asking is, when did an established/big name DJ at an established/big name venue play a tune first. The said big name DJ could have heard it played at a smaller venue or off of a tape/CD by someone who's not in or is on the periphery of the "big venue" events. Its also another avenue of praising the same big name DJ and raising the pedestal they're on just one notch higher, towards the almighty one.
  9. For security, I'd remove you bank details
  10. The issue is on SS7 is problematic to get as they dont turn up as often as you'd expect and I've never seen one on 77. I Probably dreamt it, but I thought I've seen a South African three pronged monument release of this too.
  11. Must have been a constant seller as there are 2 more variants of it on PYE's successor PRT (which also had the same number)
  12. I haven't got any myself, but from a design perspective I think its a very clever marketing ploy. They look like originals, but due to the star on the label (however small), you know they're not. I think its a lot more honest than some of the recent re-presses where you have to look even more carefully for differences, such as matrix numbers in the wax, which could leave someone duped irrespective of their knowledge or experience.
  13. My thoughts too, after looking at the scan an listening to the clip, though it was very losely graded
  14. The white ones were Quality distributed. When Curtom moved to Warners in the US they were then distributed by WEA Cananda and were the same colouring as the US releases
  15. A few years back I found a local news artical talking about Dicky Wonder being August Moon and there was a picture of him. I created a pdf and uploaded to this site, but I cant find the post any more.
  16. Has never really sold for lots of money, but has always been a sod to get hold of. Even when it appeared on a Dave Godin Kent CD or when John Ridley highlighted it on his web site none really appeared, which is unusual as a few record dealers generally dig them out and raised the prices ride the wave of opportunity generated by these avenues of interest.

I think Round Robin Monopoly - I'd Rather Loan You Out will become a more popular tune
  18. I had a conversation with Les Fisher back in 2008 when he posted "How" and tagged it as Hi rather than Pawn, as I'd never seen one. He confirmed his copy was on Hi.

Don't think they can. Leagally under the distance selling rules, the buyer is allowed to return a purchase (even for old items), for a full refund even if there is nothing wrong with the merchandise.

You can already do it of sorts. Mr Manship offers a 7 day no quibble guarantee. Fill ya boots with him on your credit card on a Wednesday, receive the record by the weekend. Play your gig and send it back on the Monday, you may get charged some interest and that’s your hire fee, job done. There were rumours a while back, that a couple of radio DJ’s did this, but unsure who the records were temporarily bought from.
  21. I don't really agree with your comment. Because a record sells for £500 doesn't mean its rare, more that its in-demand. There are many rarer records that sell for less as they're not in vogue or dancers.
  22. So with Jean Terrell, the situation could have been, the seller buys it from from James Devlin's ebay sales 2 weeks before for £16+£1.50 postage, gives it to Mr Manship who sells it for £79. Take off £19.75 for commission, your still left with a profit of £41.75, which aint bad for selling what we all know is a common record, even on an issue.
  23. The soundclip didn't sound that good, quite a lot of eggs and bacon
