  1. That’s the mislabelled copy, as it’s a cover of the Otis Clay song "That’s How It Is". There are copies which have it correctly labelled. The other side is a good great redition of the O V Wright classic.
  2. And what I've always thought strange about this release is that Charisma Road is the "A-side" on BDA 483 where you'll generally see it as single sided demos with ANLYL only on the issue. Then you have ANLYL as a single sided demo BDA-483-N, which shows in the Ref number (BDAS-483-B) it as a "B" side. Does that make the ones with a "N" suffix reissues?
  3. You get both sides on the demo, Mal Came out as a Black/White demo with bold text and Blue/White demo with small text
  4. Ady Pierce used to have a load of Candi Stix product, thought that was about 20yrs ago
  5. Think they were all published via "Real Rhythm" which was Ron Murphy's label from the mid/late 80s which released the likes of Sja'Nay - Tell Him and Nightforce - How Do We Get Back To Love, amonst others...
  6. Try this, they're about 1/2 way down the page. https://www.cruizinmemories.com/rare_hard_to_find_oldies_s/1.htm May I congratulate the graphic designer for his thoughtful artwork of the Lowrider Oldies series
  7. From memory there were only those three that came out in 1991 and were unreleased Detroit Gold Soul demo's cut around 1970.
  8. You should be able to get the issue of Bettye for about £20-30. Personally, I think its a great reacord and harder to get than Kisss My Love Goodbye, but there's not as much demand.
  9. I think Bob A floated that question a few years ago. Both records do share a lot of writing and production credits.
  10. Don't think Rod re-pressed issues 1 - 4/5
  11. The other label was Tout Ensemble
  12. All the White demo's i've seen, have the Big C logo on them, so would have assumed the issue with the same design came first. I thought that this was quite a sizable hit so the the 2nd pictured one could just be a slightly later press to cope with demand?
  13. Tony Rounce might know as he's been playing around the Memphis vaults and compiled the Danny White CD for Kent?
  14. Ooohhhh that yellow is really pretty, i want one......
  15. I used to think that Atteru was the local Memphis release before being leased to Atlas. I knew of three variants of the Atteru demo's, but didnt know of the issue. Two of the Demo's dont mention any distribution information, but one has it distributed by Joda in NY. I would love to see a scan of the issue to see if it mentions Joda?
  16. Keith, Are you selling "To Be Your Lover" on Aar O Dot or "I Used To Be a Loser" on Volt or both? John
  17. Thought this was an LP track from Generally Speaking
  18. This is my favourite Otis remembrance song as Clarence gets the emotion just right. Looks like another top show, Barry (as usual).
  19. My version preference is James Phelps and then John Edwards over the other versions, but do think it’s a tight run thing. Of the two songs I think I prefer You Were Made For Love over The Look On Your Face and on that case I prefer John Edward’s rendition on Aware, which was his next record after his Bell release. So for me it’s a draw with: J.P. 1 — J.E. 1
  20. He was Lennie Satin who released Somebody Help Me / Homebound on FIP (the same label as Mel Britt)
  21. Wayne, You forgot Johnny Dollar's version on Fised. Nate Evan's verson also came out as Nate Evans & Buss before Nate Evans and Mean Green, but they're same song.
  22. Tony Borders - I Met Her in Church came out on French Maxi as Did Marvin L Sims - Takin' Bout Soul, so I suspect there was some European distribution deal with Revue/MCA
  23. Its on the Oogum Boogum LP on Double Shot
  24. There's been talk in the previous CD Swap PM group for a CD Swap for the summer, well here it goes.... For those interested in joining, please send me a pm entitled "Something Different" and include your full name and postal details. As with before I'll create a PM group of those interested. Then you burn a CD for each of the other people in the group and send to them and hopefully they'll do the same. The theme is very open with people talking about "Jazz Funk" and with one singing the praises of the thrash metal band "Slayer". So if you're open to hearing a CD of stuff other than "On The Fours, Northern", give it a go.
  25. Kev, I'll have this as a spare if your giving it away for free.....
