  1. There are a couple of "of its time" tunes like "Right Track" & "Looking For The Real Thing", but IMO all the tracks are great. Then you've got tracks like "Leave The Bridges Standing" and "If I Don't Love You" which'll bring a tear to your eye..... Just buy one mate you wont be disapointed.
  2. Wear some aftershave, the chicks love a DJ...........
  3. Richard, the charge might be VAT as you can get charged that as well.
  4. I'm doing a sponsered walk and need the Mello Souls to play on my Ipod while walking, so you think JM will give me a discount?
  5. He's done 5 if you include the one on Stax. 2 on Parachute (Welcome To my Room & Intimately), 2 on Choc City (Midnight Desire & Randy) and the one on Stax. Are you missing one, Wayne?
  6. Of course, I even tried to entice Gary Thomas
  7. well you are on holiday, you should be enjoying yourself rather than mixing with saddo's like us.....
  8. It came out on both as a single and was the single titled LP on National General Records
  9. Its a George Soule/Terry Woodford song and If you look at the rest of the Reuben Howell LP, its a Wishbone production, so 100% Muscle Shoals and IMO nothing really linking it to Motown apart from it being released on it. Womack had links down there from his time at American Studios, so I would have thought there was a good chance that the song was pitched to various artists at the same time. Given the production leaning of the RH LP and that he released it as a single, I'd have a leaning towards Reuben Howell being the primary, even if Facts of Life had an earlier release date.
  10. Peruvian pan pipe instrumentals will be the next big thing.....
  11. Another sad loss. I absolutly love the Soul Children and "Don't Touch Me" on Casino is a beautiful ballad
  12. Theres blerb on two Sac-Soul releases on John Ridley's site. https://www.sirshambling.com/artists_2012/R/little_willie_ross/index.php https://www.sirshambling.com/artists_2012/R/bobby_ray/index.php
  13. From memory, the records in the Fame singles Box set have "Distributed by Ace Records Ltd, UK" on the labels
  14. The track on the LP by Los Dinámicos Exciters is called "Sai Amor" and also came out on a 7" on Sally Ruth. Ralph Weeks name isnt under any of the pictures on the LP cover, although his name credited as a writer on a few tracks.
  15. Think I've got one also housing an Esquires single.
  16. Thanks Dave, happy now that I don't "need" the demo as well......
  17. I've only just noticed this. The 7" issue has a running time of 3:37, which is about right The 12" has a running time of 5:40, which is also about right The 7" Demo states a running time of 4:00, which if correct makes it 20 seconds longer than the 7" issue. I dont have a demo, so is the timing correct and is it the same mix as the issue, but just a bit longer? Thanks in advance...

I suppose this’ll be another example of a common record auctioned on John’s site and hitting a high finishing price. The world will be thinking, I’m gonna have some of that….. Looking forward to the shed-loads of copies for sale, clogging up the sales section, quoting the closing price with the words “in-demand".
  19. Okay, quite a common record and also released on Tri-Us. Even though the Black Pride release looks like a local issue, I'm not convinced, as there were earlier Little Royal releases on Tri-Us in 1972 and the Tri-Us release has a publishing date of 1972 for "Keep On Pushing Your Luck" and the Black Pride release has it as 1973 Does anyone know anything about this label? This looks to have been the 5th release, what else is on it? Or was this just another way that Heuy Meaux tried to cash-in on a successful record without paying King royalties or as it was the last release on Tri-Us, maybe it was re-released after the distribution deal with King finished?

It got canned and only got a release by expansion on 2000
  21. Paramount were quite funny with their demo's as they distributed a few as both single and double sided demo's of the same record. Two examples being Fletcher Walker - Didn’t We/...Never Understand and the Jones Girls - If You Don’t Love Me.../If You Don’t...
  22. Fantastic Violinaires - Presenting The Fantastic Violinaires - Jewel with I'm Not Worried
  23. Markings in the run out are the same in the original and the re-press as the same original plates were used. So you can really only tell by looking at the differences in the label text and the dink gradients.
