  1. It came out on both as a single and was the single titled LP on National General Records
  2. Its a George Soule/Terry Woodford song and If you look at the rest of the Reuben Howell LP, its a Wishbone production, so 100% Muscle Shoals and IMO nothing really linking it to Motown apart from it being released on it. Womack had links down there from his time at American Studios, so I would have thought there was a good chance that the song was pitched to various artists at the same time. Given the production leaning of the RH LP and that he released it as a single, I'd have a leaning towards Reuben Howell being the primary, even if Facts of Life had an earlier release date.
  3. Peruvian pan pipe instrumentals will be the next big thing.....
  4. Another sad loss. I absolutly love the Soul Children and "Don't Touch Me" on Casino is a beautiful ballad
  5. Theres blerb on two Sac-Soul releases on John Ridley's site. https://www.sirshambling.com/artists_2012/R/little_willie_ross/index.php https://www.sirshambling.com/artists_2012/R/bobby_ray/index.php
  6. From memory, the records in the Fame singles Box set have "Distributed by Ace Records Ltd, UK" on the labels
  7. The track on the LP by Los Dinámicos Exciters is called "Sai Amor" and also came out on a 7" on Sally Ruth. Ralph Weeks name isnt under any of the pictures on the LP cover, although his name credited as a writer on a few tracks.
  8. Think I've got one also housing an Esquires single.
  9. Thanks Dave, happy now that I don't "need" the demo as well......
  10. I've only just noticed this. The 7" issue has a running time of 3:37, which is about right The 12" has a running time of 5:40, which is also about right The 7" Demo states a running time of 4:00, which if correct makes it 20 seconds longer than the 7" issue. I dont have a demo, so is the timing correct and is it the same mix as the issue, but just a bit longer? Thanks in advance...
  11. I suppose this’ll be another example of a common record auctioned on John’s site and hitting a high finishing price. The world will be thinking, I’m gonna have some of that….. Looking forward to the shed-loads of copies for sale, clogging up the sales section, quoting the closing price with the words “in-demand".
  12. Okay, quite a common record and also released on Tri-Us. Even though the Black Pride release looks like a local issue, I'm not convinced, as there were earlier Little Royal releases on Tri-Us in 1972 and the Tri-Us release has a publishing date of 1972 for "Keep On Pushing Your Luck" and the Black Pride release has it as 1973 Does anyone know anything about this label? This looks to have been the 5th release, what else is on it? Or was this just another way that Heuy Meaux tried to cash-in on a successful record without paying King royalties or as it was the last release on Tri-Us, maybe it was re-released after the distribution deal with King finished?
  13. It got canned and only got a release by expansion on 2000
  14. Paramount were quite funny with their demo's as they distributed a few as both single and double sided demo's of the same record. Two examples being Fletcher Walker - Didn’t We/...Never Understand and the Jones Girls - If You Don’t Love Me.../If You Don’t...
  15. Fantastic Violinaires - Presenting The Fantastic Violinaires - Jewel with I'm Not Worried
  16. Markings in the run out are the same in the original and the re-press as the same original plates were used. So you can really only tell by looking at the differences in the label text and the dink gradients.
  17. Can anyone confirm that the single is longer than the LP cut by about 20 seconds? The LP has it as 3:19 (my recording of it's about the same), but the single states a timing of 3:40, is this correct or a typo on the label?
  18. There was a thread on the very subject, a while back.
  19. The issue of Troy Keyes See No Evil/You rescued Me On Time on Chumley is said to exist and there's one reference on a Japanese web site, but no picture. I'd like to see that one. Would love for someone to pop up with an issue of Joe Anderson You Gotta Believe, now that would be a find.
  20. I cant load it, so can't see what bargins are to be had
  21. Randy Brown - Randy - US Choc City - Ex+ Randy Brown - Midnight Desire - UK Casablanca/Pye - Ex+ Randy Brown - Intimately - UK Parachute/Pye - Ex+ Paypal only, gift preferred if you trust me. PM me if your interested.
  22. It's good that you play different tunes each time, keeps people interested in what you play. Not that I go out much, but when out we do sometimes play the "predict-a-set" game and a lot of times we get it right.......... I also think it also depends on the venue/soul night as well.
  23. I like the two Ella Brown Lanor 45's
  24. Nearly a year after this post, I've got a question. Is this the short, long or a different version of the New London Int release (not the Polydor re-work)?
