Banned For Life For Posting On Whitby
Bollocks. Ignore it - unless she (and anyone else) wants to pursue refund and compensation claims of course and maybe you should. I'm sure if you all grouped together and got representation................ Puffed up little men like KR are an unfortunate part of this scene (and many other "scenes"). It's partly our own fault though, sometimes we forget that it is about music and not personalities. Please add me to the list of people to send a terribly official letter to Kev, as a music lover, whatever you do "It'll NEVER Be Over For Me" J.

Togetherness, Stoke - Dancing Comeptition Video Clip
Agree with Grant and Billy - very poor. But then, the best dancers were NEVER so uncool as to enter dance competitions, were we? J.

Need London Record Shop Recommendations
Yep, I remember it in Surrey Street, good stuff to be had ........until that is you went anywhere near anything remotely 60's Northern! High prices and you had to practically beat him to a pulp before he started to see sense. He pulled out a "price guide" once and pointed out the "prices" - I laughed and started to walk away, "I agree" he said, "these guides are crap" and asked what I'd offer. He had no idea on modern though and that is where you could really clean up! Heard a few months back back that Record Corner (Balham) was still open, worth a trip in case it is and if it ain't, carry on in to Croydon! In fact, I may come with you! John.

Need London Record Shop Recommendations
Record Corner 27 Bedford Hill Balham SW12 A bit of a way out but worth the trip. Huge stock of new & nearly new stuff which should meet your criteria. Best to get overground train to Balham then it's 5 minute walk from station. If you do go down that way, you would do well to continue into Croydon afterwards, loads of record shops there. Good luck and enjoy!!! John.

Spring Records
Millie Jackson - Caught Up was one of the first soul albums I ever bought (in fact one of the first anything albums!). Brilliant album, very brilliant and talented singer who, imho, diluted that talent considerably with later stuff. J.

Jessie Henderson 12" On Lasso
Hmmmm, this is reaching enigma proportions! Guy advertised is as original and I'm not too bothered but just in case.......any idea how I could tell the difference between them? Many thanks Baz, John.

Jessie Henderson 12" On Lasso
As a further post script to this, I sought out and bought both the Land of Hits and the Lasso issues of this with a few clicks of the mouse. There were several copies of both at several dealers. The Land of Hits issue cost £8 and is a far stronger mix with better sound quality, both sides have the long version. The Lasso issue cost me £7 and has a shorter mix on the B side which is lighter and probably more suited to the current "Northern" scene, imho. I prefer the Land of Hits version which I'm sure is the one I remember from Morecambe/Leicester mid - late 80's As to the original question "is this a worthy auction item" - clearly the answer is a very loud "NO". Cheers, John.

If You Spent £5 On A Record In 1978
Wouldn't you also need to factor in career progress, promotions etc? Otherwise you would be comparing (for example) school leaver wages 1978 with school leaver wages today. This probably can't be formulated as it's an individual thing. Challenge for you there Mikey!! Also as someone said, some records have not increased in price or even gone down. Just a thought............. John.

What Music Makes You Smile On A Summer Day?
I played the Chuck Strong "Stolen Love" album yesterday, first time in a while and it sounded sooooo good. Followed that with two other long unplayed albums: Jeff Floyd - "Changing Times" and Kevin Owens - "That Time Again". Perfect mellow summer soul. John.

R&b Time Help
I take it back - I hate all these records and will be selling them to buy a cat that looks like Hitler. .................That would be Duke/Peacock's Buenos Aires offices would it Tone? Been meaning to PM you for a while........so I'll do it now. J.

R&b Time Help
Hi Juddy, I'm sure others will have more varied suggestions but I have a liking for the Peacock label from Houston, I have tons of stuff on it. Specific tracks that may suit you are: Minnie Epperson - Grab Your Clothes (and get on out) Vi Campbell - Seven Doors Bud Harper - Let Me Love You/Mr Soul Bud Harper - Wherever You Where Johnny Meyers - TCB Sandra Kay Tucker - Have It Your Way Jean Stanback - If I Ever Needed Love Little Frankie Lee - I Gotta Come Back Melvin Carter - Teacher of Love Little Eddie Taylor - I Had A Good Time Plenty of R&B flavour there and not too "hardcore" seems in line with your selections. Good luck, John.

A Review Of My First Live Wigan Casino Tape
I have a couple of Wigan tapes somewhere, recorded whilst sat on the stage with portable cassette recorder and mike on top of speakers. Talk about a wall of noise!!! Peggy March reaction is astounding on the tape I have too. Couldn't get a look in now but back then, you can literally hear everyone going "ooooh" and rushing on to the floor. And yes, I am still buying these records, got Dutch Robinson (Eddie Kendricks c/u) in post this morning. Best bit though is when batteries start to run down and tape runs more slowly. Get it home and play it back and it's all speeded up. Ila Vann "Can't Help Lovin Dat Man" sounding like a 200 mph stomper sung by Pinky and Perky! Ah, happy days. John.

Shortest 45
Argh, had forgotten about that! Yes, I remember it. They (Gordons) also pressed up some with a spoken intro, something along the lines of "Everyone wants to know what this sound is and where it comes from, well here it is and it's the red hot sound of Gordon's Gin" sounded great over the system at both Wigan and Yate - NOT! Also remember emi-discs that were cut from tapes made in cinemas!!! Sure I have it on cassette tape somewhere - I'm gonna be up all bloody night now. John.
