Extremely Rare Vinyl 45,
Well, I suppose it's got a bit more substance than a mis-titled download from iTunes hasn't it

Extremely Rare Vinyl 45,
That reminds me I have a copy of the Adorables on Golden World - "Ooh boy" / "Devil in his eyes" which plays the Four Tops - "Ain't that love" / "Lonely summer" Which was a 1965 Columbia re-issue of a 1960 release. It took years to work out what it really was as it doesn't sound like the Four Tops as we know them! [Dave Flynn finally traced it via the matrix no ZSP 110951 / 2] Maybe this could be the start of a new form of collecting?

Chuck Cissel - Don't Tell Me You're Sorry - Arista
Yes, I have to agree, I first heard it via a Manship 'new releases' tape in the early 8o's, picked up the LP long before I came across the 45. I just doesn't seem to turn up does it! BTW Steve W - I still quite like the flip side to 'Cisselin Hot' - "Do you believe" ...nice!

A "lost" Soul Artist "found"
Me too - Ask if he's got any photos from when they recorded the song, that would be good

Glenn Jones - Keep On Doin - Rca How Much?
-
Chino Feaster On Strakers
Very reminiscent of a James Brown 'warm up' thing - the sort of tune the band would do before the main act comes on. Pretty so so for me though - I wouldn't go dashing up to the decks to find out what it was Sorry Ken, but that's just my opinion

The Chambers Brothers - I Can't Stand It
I thought Munchkin said in post no 3 that the Columbia copy was a different cut? Surely that means Direction copies (if any) would be the same? But don't know for sure do I?

Patience Is A Virtue
That yellow 'Boot' of Eddie Rey, I had a listen to it a while back and it is a completely different recording of the song. It even has a different song on the A side. The auction page I saw it on even stated it was an alternate version or something. Maybe it is something unissued that they've come across - that's assuming it's not just another release on Prix that's not known of? Not having checked a Prix listing, I don't know for sure if the number they use is part of the series or not. Does anyone know for certain it's not just a different release that's turned up? Just curious...

The Chambers Brothers - I Can't Stand It
Think you may be right Bri There's a European on Gemm on CBS 3359 - maybe that's it? Bit pricey though! https://www.gemm.com/item/CHAMBERS--BROTHERS---d---LES/TIME--HAS--COME--TODAY/GML943985468/

The Chambers Brothers - I Can't Stand It
I've got that album on UK Direction. I seem to think the title track was on a Direction 45 - If so maybe it's on the other side? PS - I haven't a clue what the track sounds like, I haven't played that LP in over 25 years!

Willie J And Co: Boogie With Your Baby (Ki Ki)
Isn't the reason for the price rise somewhat due to the interest created by the funk scene & Keb D?

I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself - Cissy Houston
That sort of ties in with what I attempted to say earlier Cheers Martyn!

What's Been Your Favourite Venue Of 2009 ?
Can't really put them in any order, but for me it has to include: Soul Essence, Just Soul, Horse & Groom, Red Bar.

I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself - Cissy Houston
Hmmm. well I definately had it 'in the box' at Pitches, could even be the one who played it when you were there? But seeing as I first heard it on that LP as I said above - I can't imagine being surprised at someone telling me that they'd not heard it since '74... But that was a few years back so I couldn't swear to it ...It may not have been me either Anyway, no worries whatever. "Love don't hurt people" - If I remember rightly, wasn't the other version by Sharon Brown? I think I have a UK picture sleeve copy of it, but forget the label off hand - Virgin maybe?. Speaking of Cissy, there's a few nice things she did on EMI and also Private stock as I recall "Love is holding on" being one. I also have a bit of a soft spot for another of her Janus things "I'm so glad I can love again" Yep she's got a great voice and she's even better when she has the right songs!

I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself - Cissy Houston
Lovely tune it is! - I also first came across it via the same compilation album, later picked up the Album by Cissy with the track on - on UK Major Minor, (which actually came out before the Pye release Ken, as you'll no doubt know) Commonweath records being released over here at the time by Major Minor, later the LP was released on Pye, then of course the 45 also on UK Pye. The 45 I picked up for about 50p at Mr Dewhurst's old haunt - Cleethorpes Pier Not being a 'stomper' so to speak, it wasn't regarded as anything special by the average all nighter goer / seller during the mid 70's period. I then 'forgot' all about it until as Mr Plumb states, when it got plays during the 90's. I also wondered about the Cissy / Dusty connection Ian...'Cissy's revenge' - sounds good to me!

Label Variations - Beyond The Logo
Interesting stuff there Roger! Funnily enough only last night I was looking at three variations of a US 70's 45 that I hadn't really noticed before. It was Debbie Taylor's Arista side "Just don't pay" and they were all slightly different. layouts, two of them having a logo on the left hand side of the label, ('Touch of Gold') which isn't on mine - which is what drew me to checking out others for sale. Here's one like mine: Here's the two with the logos: Yes, it's a funny thing this collecting lark isn't it!
