Jamaican Soul Labels
Came across this one the other day while looking for something else, it's not quite Jamaican, but sort of close : Actually, it only states it on the other side - Made in Barbados It's "All the heaven a man really needs"... and more

A Couple Of Oddities (or Are They Well Known)
Hi Bob, yes it did get played in the UK, but not really on national radio stations as such. Mainly on the specialist Soul shows. I remember first hearing it as an album track from "Hotter than July" and picking up a 45 of it a few years later. ">

Some Soul From Down Under
Here's a nice one which didn't get a UK 45 release - but did come out in Europe and the states.

Dionne Warwicke - Just Being Myself - Uk Wb Lp
Agreed Bully - one fine tune indeed! In fact the US 45 of this is a great double sider as it's got "I'm just being myself" on the A side But as this is about the LP - just buy it someone I've already got it BTW

Help Me Solve 3 Modern Mysteries
Hi Andy, This is the one you asked about - I knew I had it somewhere I was still looking for that Jimmy James EP when I came across it. (Still yet to 'find' Jimmy though - but I definately do have it... somewhere!) As you can see, it's another Biddu production and as far as I know, not released in the States. (The B side is "Fast running out of world") It's not really one of his better 45s on EMI, I much prefer "All the way" to this one. But that's just my opinion There was a thread on his 45s on here not all that long ago

Moment Of Truth
Hi Rich! Isn't "At long last" on the flip side to "You got me humming"? I'm almost sure I have it on a UK Salsoul 45...
-
Moment Of Truth
Also on Roulette the odd spin was given for "Your love" / "If at first you don't succeed" A nice double sider - if you get the issue. Agreed - the album has some lovely tracks on

Help-me Head Hurts
Don't forget Bunny Sigler "Don't stop what you're doing..." on Neptune 25 I'm sure that shares the same tune as well Is that right?... or am I mixing it up with another tune?

Rondelet Records - Info Please
I seem to remember they were a Notts based label - possibly Mansfield I think? They did release quite a few decent 45s out on the Half Moon label with Cliff Dawson, Rainbows Valley, Lou Thom, Tony Cook and the Party People and Sargeant & Malone... just ones which I can remember off hand. I don't know of anything else which came out via Rondelet, but there may be others. Which records is it you have - something on another label or Rondelet itself?

Help Me Solve 3 Modern Mysteries
Just checked a few likely boxes - but no luck there! I'll have to have another look later when I've more time and no-one around to nag at me for upsetting the house with boxes everywhere

Help Me Solve 3 Modern Mysteries
I'm not so sure about the picture sleeve, or reversed sides, but if all the other copies are, then mine may well be also I do seem to think it came off a local market stall, so the fact that he was living around these parts at the time sounds about right I'll just go and see if I can find it ....

Help Me Solve 3 Modern Mysteries
Best make it a 'Four known copies' I'm sure I stuck one of those tracks on a tape for you back in the mid 80's I forget just which one it was tho'

L.j.reynolds
Hi Rich, No, I don't think I have that one - what label's it on? Seriously though, there's loads I don't have, and even more I've not even heard - yet. There's always something new to learn every day. Also to add to Steve Plumb's comment about this record, I didn't even have a copy until after "All I need" was brought to our attention by Mike Charlton. I heard 'Cookin' when it was first around and wasn't all that impressed, being an instrumental and all that, so didn't buy a copy. So now you know!

L.j.reynolds
My copy is an issue also, on Black lady For those who haven't seen it, here's a scan of one (not mine though) Here's the 'Cookin' side on Lady: Maybe as Sean hinted, they dropped the 'Black' for er... political reasons
-
Bobby Thurston
That's a bit of an understatement isn't it Sean - only 'Twice'? I'm sure a few people will have heard you play it more than that... unless you've bootlegged it and playing a carver of it or summat! Mind you, you wouldn't do that would you? You just said you "don't have the rights" (Ha Ha!)

Blair - Night Life
I'd have to have a look at my UK copy to be certain, but isn't the UK 7" of this the same length as the LP? Or is it edited down...? Lovely tune all the same
