  1. note that if you run the stylus back and forth over a spot, especially with heavy force, you often burn out / distort the record. so don't do it repeatedly if you can't fix it that way quickly.

otis leavill was from the west side of chicago, but it was the same housing projects that the other artists you mentioned were from
  3. agreeing with the above, has to be '75-'76 given the bump flip. i will ask harvey the next time i talk to him.

just constant demand from funk / hiphop dudes over the years. I don't think there was any specific new thing that increased the value. I still don't own a copy, a hole in my curtom collection...
  5. it's a different kind of auction, real life auctions obviously get extended when people bid. actually now most non-ebay internet auctions are those penny auctions which are constantly extended.

so probably not legit for Tommy to own

i'm pretty sure "loving explosion" was never released on a 7" in any country before. there was an eliminators 45 on BRC but neither side was "loving explosion".
  8. it looks like an original acetate but since this was released i don't see much value in it unless it's an alternate recording / alternate take / mix, etc.
  9. can't go wrong with most numero soul CDs, and you'll never get more extensive liner notes.

for what it's worth, i don't know anything about this specific acetate being sold (i obviously know the inspirations record), but I have bought from this seller many times without issue

it's within the range of scanner color contrast changes

    hep = hip
  13. I was going to disagree but then realized it was pounds and not dollars so you have to be right, interesting.

group was from Cabrini Green in Chicago
  15. I have it as 1977, don't remember what that came from. Either way, it's so ghetto it sounds earlier.

it looks like my original copy in terms of color, i think the brightness is just the scan. i didn't pull out the original copy to check if the text layout is the same though.
  17. Andre Williams was even a member of the Velvet Hammer. EDIT: in response to the original question, i don't see any evidence of boots being around.
  18. I agree. I think it makes more sense for labels that had larger runs of records that are mostly all rare though. That's not gonna work out here though.
  19. way more than I've seen of the traditions on artco. why are you getting worked up over a post on an internet forum? chill out.
  20. check this out. this is identified as a bootleg ("remastered"). looks close to an original. Can anyone explicitly lay out the differences or is it so close you have to look at the deadwax? https://www.ebay.com/itm/JONES-BROTHERS-Thats-All-Over-Baby-SEEL-Records-10-Northern-Soul-45-Soundclip/111054163055?_trksid=p3693.m2452&_trkparms=aid%3D333005%26algo%3DRIC.FIT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D265%26meid%3D3476347082400320447%26pid%3D100102%26prg%3D1140%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D200997985873%26
  21. pretty rare, the ballad side (also super low-fi) is the side for me. There was a spike in value maybe 4-5 years ago when people on funk forums were talking about it.
  22. The group is from Chicago (just answering the question above), they evolved out of Calvin and the Twilites on Har-Low (also the twilites and rainbows on m-pac). I still need a copy of the rainbows if anyone has one...
  23. mars-la-tour wasn't even close to being a soul label, right?
