  1. Thanks for posting Steve And let the weekly debate begin. 😎 Peter
  2. A big play for Mr Buchanan back in the early 80's. It was a good clue you gave Adrian. Peter
  3. Well done Chalky. Just in time for a Christmas soul trip down memory lane. Thanks mate. Peter
  4. I'm sure you understood what I meant; it was a factual observation. In terms of any whiffy superiority I think you can claim that hat by reading far too much into what I said. Obviously, you feel the need to try and defend the subject matter of your thread, well done for having the strength of your convictions. Me, I'm just an inferior so and so - and I don't claim to be anything other. Peter
  5. Many have heard of Northern Soul; but, those that understand it are the Chosen Few! Excuse the pun. Peter
  6. This is why I find SS such an interesting place. Great discussion, and some great insight from Rick and Karl; and everyone else. Topic of the week! Thanks. Peter
  7. Wow! The post has generated more response on here than any other post for a while. I haven't read all of them....................... Peter
  8. Peter99 posted a soul guide event in Alldayers

  9. Hi Andy Good to hear from you, I hope you're keeping well. I remember you well from my times hanging out with the Boston team. I think it was March time - I'm not certain of exactly when. Richard was a lovely lad, a rogue for sure, but he had a heart of gold. He just lost his way in life, particularly with regard to the darker side of the northern soul scene. I'm not even certain about how he died - I did ask one of my old Mablethorpe friends but never got an answer.
  10. Yes, I definitely knew Karen, she was lovely. My main partners in crime, in particular, were the Bradbury brothers. Sadly Richard passed away earlier this year and Ady quite a few years ago. Mick is still around, in Devon, but I haven't seen him for donkey's years. Peter
  11. Yes, like you my friend, I was greedy! 🤣 I hope you are well Sir. Peter
  12. Whenever I went to the Fleet, usually with the Boston girls and boys I made myself unwell. 😰
  13. Hi Paul Welcome to the font of most knowledge. Have you been an all niter goer? Peter
  14. This is some album, probably one of the best for quite some time. Well done Alex, great job, I hope it sells well. Peter
  15. Mm, but who would buy them? I wouldn't have thought it was a very good business model. Peter
  16. It's a proper northern soul record; great vocals on this driving dance stonker. Peter
  17. Are we talking about People's Choice on Palmer?
  18. Clifton Hall, Rotherham and Steve Crofts After Dark Cleethorpes all niters were where I was at my peak! Amazing music. I did Wigan, and loads of other places. Leicester Odd Fellows was a packer but musically not my favourite. Best DJ sets for me were Richard's monster mixed sets circa, 1981. Mixing up some monster modern, super 60's newies, alongside amazing oldies such as The Group ft Cecil. etc. There you go. You did ask. Peter
  19. One of those records for me that takes you right back in time; I'm sure I'm not alone. Had, has the ability to make the back of the hairs stand up. Three back street blues and you're there. Edit. Actually, it is worth saying that this record was a huge northern soul record. Packed dance floors everywhere back in the day. And still has "it".
  20. Holly St James looks nice - I do like those ABC promos. It's still a stonker of a northern soul record - one of those mega, atmospheric things from my youth. Peter
  21. At one time I'm sure he was a regular poster on here.
  22. They haven't yet and it's been around for years at a premium.
  23. An auction price may not always go above what collectors think any rough price might be. Often they do, but not always. And if even if they do, there's no guarantee the auction will achieve a price way above what everyone thinks it may achieve. Peter
