  1. I'm guessing that clip isn't related to the track, apart from it being Joe Tex, and has something to do with the equally sh*te 'aint gonna bump no more'
  2. He is Peter, everyone down there knows him now, I sometimes think the swans are getting used to him after 9 years of him popping in for a drink, ........the cuddly little Shi Tzu that makes us 3 is a different tale and is borstal bound, lol
  3. Yes Peter, my boxer knows all about that, he nips in the lodge for a drink every time we pass and has been known to get a clout off a swan more than once lol he's off like a shot when it happens,
  4. I stumbled across these today
  5. I think you're right Dave, re 98, also remember one that was a Motown top 50 (or similar) night, RS played most of what was to be played earlier on that day on his radio show, I seem to remember 'Wigan' nighters too
  6. Weren't the Ritz 'Rarest of the Rare' just once or maybe twice a year? With the other Bank Holiday nighters being themes like Detroit/Chicago, Motown, Oldies ...............
  7. I'm understanding you fully, I wasn't listing it as a candidate, I also didn't mean I'm surprised YOU haven't mentioned it, I was surprised ALL the OTHER members that have contributed hadn't mentioned it among all the other classics mentioned, that's all, Hope that's clear now
  8. Just to clear things up here, if all the contributions were obscure semi/unknown instrumentals I wouldn't have mentioned 'Bari Track' and wouldn't normally post in these types of thread anyway, Instead I read almost 2 pages of lists of readily known tracks following on from the topic starters request, and mentioned I was surprised at the absence of 'Bari Track' No biggie really
  9. A comment from the opening post from the topic starter ; i ill open with the most popular being checkerboard squares? Obviously the topic starter isn't fed up, and I would put 'Bari Track' firmly in this category, especially if the likes of 'Interplay' are being contributed
  10. Almost without mention then And the fact it still took to post #34 is a bit of a surprise
  11. I could be wrong but have I just quickly skipped through 80+ posts on Classic Northern Soul Instrumentals and no mention of this????
  12. That wasn't my point Pete, my point is 'if' I had a choice of a Cajun Hart (or any other 45) with 2 good sides or one with a trashed 'B' side, I wouldn't expect the prices to be the same,
  13. Surely a 45 with 2 mintish sides (both the popular side and the less popular side) is more desirable (more valuable) than the same 45 with a mintish 'A' side and a trashed 'B' side?
  14. Yep not a bad mix, a Womack with Sam Cookes daughter, couldn't go wrong really, sad news
  15. Yep not a bad mix, a Womack with Sam Cookes daughter, couldn't go wrong really, sad news
  16. Could be he has genuinely sent the wrong album and wants it back, as it wasn't for sale in the first place? Or maybe he values it at more than what you paid for it
  17. Only this Saturday just gone both myself and Ginger were asked to play Do I love you - Frank Dobie
  18. Possibly the point is, some got to where you are years before you did, some still have to get there, some don't want to get there and very few 'DJ'S' will be aware of where you got on and off the NS merry-go-round, stuff you don't know will undoubtedly be someone elses hammered to death nostalgia trip, Wanting to hear stuff you don't know is great but there could be plenty going through the coupla years nostalgia trip you enjoyed, so cull all oldies DJ'S?
  19. That's the good thing about modern technology, if you become aware of a tune new to you, that is in your opinion the best thing you have heard in years, only to find out it's as rare as hens teeth and would cost a kings ransom to own, if you did ever find one, Play it on a loop (on CD or mp3 etc) non stop for hours/days/weeks until you would be happy to never hear the fecking thing again,
  20. Tommy Neal - Going to a happening Eddie Floyd - Bring it on home to me Bobby Bland - Call on me Fascinations - Girls are out to get you Mood Mosaic - Touch of velvet
  21. Are we talking classics? Holly St James - That's not love Dee Clarke - That's my girl Derek and Ray - Interplay Not just 3 bobbins classics from way back that don't really get played anymore, but 3 classics that strangely still do the business at oldies nights
  22. As far as I'm aware that's his name, Roman Karel (sp?) he's on here as 'northernhearts' or similar, top man
  23. It probably originated when it became an option, the same as when other formats were implemented, some venues play cd's, laptops, mp3s, boots and some play original vinyl only, I have played Cds in the pub, I have dabbled on a laptop in another pub, I wouldn't turn up at somewhere like lifeline with a memory stick, I really don't understand your concerns Barney, there's countless venues up and down the country that don't give a flying fukc, and good luck to em, I play at plenty and don't complain, Then there's venues that choose to be more selective in their chosen format, and good luck to them, I play at plenty, I don't complain, The only time it becomes an issue is when someone wants to play something other than the format preferred at any given night, Think that just about sums it up,
  24. At home/in the car I listen to all kinds of formats, but you stating a 23 year old of today hasn't 'moved on' from what you learned is ridiculous, she is, relatively speaking, just starting out, By your guidelines it's OK for Natalie to remain within the boundaries of your history, carry a box of dodgy records that you wore your parents carpet out to, and that will keep the flame burning? Back on topic, if you really expect todays 'technology smart' youth to carry heavy boxes of fake vinyl round for any length of time then I'm afraid it aint gonna happen, they either get the collecting bug (as some have) or it ain't happening,
  25. Doesn't need to move on? Are you honestly suggesting Natalie will have that play list forever? that she won't change her tastes as she grows? That something maybe Chalky plays at the next lifeline won't inspire her? You say Natalie hasn't moved on, I'd like to bet there was a time she didn't know any of that play list, isn't that moving on? Don't misunderstand me, I'm hardly a trailblazer of all things new, quite the opposite, but everyone having every big hitting 45 on dodgy vinyl in heavy boxes. won't last very long, it challenges no-one and will soon become stale, more stale than it already is,
