  3. Troy Seals (born November 16, 1938 in Big Hill, Kentucky) is an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist. He is a member of the prominent Seals family of musicians that includes, Jim Seals (of Seals and Crofts) and Dan Seals (of England Dan & John Ford Coley) and Brady Seals (Little Texas and Hot Apple Pie). In recognition of his successful career, Troy Seals was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. Retrieved from "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troy_Seals" Could this be the guy?
  4. If I remember rightly both of these tracks were on the "Roads of Life" LP which I got rid of a few years ago ( big mistake). Top drawer stuff and, in my opinion, an artist that has a body of work that most people should find something in to enjoy. I saw him at the International in Manchester in the early 90's - probably about 300 in attendance. They literally had to drag him from the stage at about 1.00am in the morning after 3 hours of his full repertoire. Possibly the best gig I have been to!
  5. The track is from "The Poet 2" LP - sorry for stating the obvious if this is already known, but I don't know anything about the single.
  6. It's in JM's latest guide (4th) at £150

20:30Motown on the MerseyCraig Charles presents a documentary looking back at Liverpool's Mardi Gras Club and the special relationship it had with 1960s soul music. With contributions from musicians Geno Washington, Eddie and Chris Amoo, and Kenny Ball, music journalist Paul Du Noyer and the legendary comperes during those 'Tamla Nights' Billy Butler and Chris Wharton. Might be worth a listen.

  11. Very subjective, one man's perfect dance beat is another man's trip to the bar. In my humble opinion I have always felt that the mighty O'Jays "I dig your act " has got the most perfect dance tempo as well as great lyrics and as always supreme vocals, rounded off by a sublime production.
  12. I think they are both tremendous tracks, for different musical reasons. To my thinking FW was all about impact the first time it was played at Wigan - the buzz about the record at the time was unbelievable and that was sustained for a good period. Wigan and the scene needed it at the time and it certainly did the job. I don't know what impact Mello Souls had when that first surfaced as I was long gone from the scene by that time, though I can imagine it would have been something special hearing it for the first time.
  13. Import Duty is usually percentage based. It averages at between about 5% and 9% - but with extremes in some cases between nil and 85%. If the consigment is liable to Customs Duty, Customs assess the total amount of Customs Duty to be paid based on the value of the goods, plus the transport and insurance costs to the country of destination. Other costs may be included such as tools, dies, moulds, design work, royalties, licence fees.. VAT is then added at 17.5%.

Try www.bsnpubs.com which looks like it gives full details of the labels for the issued LP's over the years.
  15. According to the Taxation and Customs Union Regulations/Decisions 1789/03, base regulation of 1 January 1988 and modified 1 January 2004, printed books, not in single sheets, with a Taric Code of 4901990000, country of origin Canada, carry an import duty of 0%. Hope this is ok.
  16. JM's 4th has it at £350
  17. Just caught up with the 6th February episode of the manic "Shameless" courtesy of Sky Plus. Briefly, the magnificently wasted Frank Gallagher, played supremely by David Threllfall (who incidentally also directed this episode - the one where one of the Maguire family has a dog, called Nelson, performing a sex act act on him...... ) is seen wearing a "Wigan Casino Keep the Faith" t-shirt with the Night Owl logo in the centre. So what do you reckon - Frank at Wigan? He certainly has the chemical credentials with the amount of ecstacy he drops and he could have been there ( although it's anybody's guess as to how old he is), and he's obvously a more credible soap opera representative for the scene than Fizz. What would Frank have been tuned into, sound wise? I keep thinking Psychodelic Frankie on Hi-Speed would have been a perfect mantra for him!

Risen to £500 per the 4th edition.
  19. First record I ever bought - "These things...." Still would be my favourite, despite other great tracks, especially "Lonely, lonely girl am I". In my opinion a timeless masterpiece.

  25. Just about sums it up perfectly. Richard was in every sense the main man around this time, and it is wonderful to hear these tracks in this format, just to remind us how exciting an era this was. Well done Pete.
