Sonny Childe - A Thing Called Love
Hi Dennis, Happy New Year! Sonny Childe aka R.B. Greaves was related to Sam Cooke, his cousin I think. He came over to the UK and had releases on Decca and Polydor, which I imagine you are aware of. He also appears to have had a couple of releases on US Music Factory. Although there was no UK release on MF they may have been UK recordings. No info on your record. This sounds like I'm a proper anorak! I promise you I'm not. Rich

Very sad. A great man who had a great record collection too. He'll be missed. R.I.P. Jimmy R&G

Chris Fletcher
Okay, seems like there's been some confusion re Fletchers, Chris who is hopefully still with us and Tim who sadly is not.

Chris Fletcher
Just heard a terrible rumour that Chris has died. Hope it's not true.

Va Va -- Bolton 1973
For me VaVas was a great allnighter. The music, the deejays, the crowd and the dancefloor were top notch and the club itself returned an intimacy to the scene that was beginning to be lost with the Torch. Things went downhill with Wigan. I went to most, if not all nights there. The glass screens took some getting used to; my nose has never been straight since.....

About an old friend
Ricky Warburton I guess Fred. Great guy, avid collector and a friend of ours as well as, I recall, Rob's. Sadly he died a few weeks ago. Hope you and Jackie are keeping well and polishing those shoes! Rich

Ricky Warburton R.I.P.
Our old friend and Northern Soul stalwart Ricky sadly passed away on Monday. He was a lovely guy, committed to the scene and he embraced its many facets, since he was a teenager in the early '70's. He built up a tidy and vast collection of records (mainly '60's), albums as well as 45's together with books, mags and general memorabilia. His record room was something to be seen, quite fantastic (but now cleared out!) The funeral will be held at Agecroft Crem, Langley Road, Pendlebury, Salford, M27 8SS at 3.00 pm on Thursday 25th August 2022. N.B. The originally posted time of 3.30 was incorrect. We send our love to Sue, Karen, Chris, grandchildren and all members of his family. We had some great times, some big laughs and eventually we will see you again Ricky outside that great allnighter in the sky. R & G xxx

Jimmy Thomas R.I.P.
Apparently....I learned this from listening to Steve Glover's FB show yesterday and can't imagine why it's not all over Soul-Source, unless of course it's not true, which I hope it isn't. J.T. made some great records but for me The Beautiful Night is one of the greatest ever, self penned too! My first copy cost me a fiver at the Vavas. Lost that over the years and its replacement set me back £320 a few years back! Steve is a highly respected collector who goes back to the 60's and formerly co-owner of Soul Galore record stores in Birmingham and Manchester. His shows are on Fridays, usually 7pm - 9pm, well worth a listen and soon to be on You Tube. He needs YT subscribers. It's free! Just go to SoulBoy Steve on YT.

Mill Evans - Constellation recording, poss unreleased
Thanks. Last time I saw him was at Prestatyn I think 10- 15 years ago. Bought a Philip James on UK Island from him. Nice guy.

Mill Evans - Constellation recording, poss unreleased
Yes! That's the one. My mate bought the carver from Gary Holiman who made him promise not to make further copies. He didn't but now the carver has gone missing from his house. I used to know Gary but no one seems to have seen him recently. Do you know whether or not he's still around? I hear that he sold all his records a while back.

Mill Evans - Constellation recording, poss unreleased
Thanks for your responses guys. I was asking on behalf of a friend whose one off carver of the track was cut from a 10" Constellation acetate and has gone missing. He thinks it was probably 2014 when he acquired it. If anyone hears it played out perhaps you could let me know.

Mill Evans - Constellation recording, poss unreleased
Does anyone have any information of a recording by Mill entitled "Things are gonna change" or maybe "Things have gotta change" which has the same backing as Just like the weather/ A love Reputation? It's not "Things won't be the same" btw. TIA

Least Memorable/most Disappointing Live Soul Act
Agree with that. We saw her there and we'd also seen her elsewhere a year or two earlier when she was dynamite! Think she was on some kind of downer at Blackpool and insisted on singing material which wasn't suited to the audience.
