It's the height of folly to buy something advertised as a cover-up if you don't know what it is.
  2. "Get Out" (Lamp) Anyone? Thanks.
  3. There's now a Whole Foods grocery store where 111 Mack Avenue would have been.
  4. Thirded. Supercool record I'd never heard of, Nancy.
  5. Found a couple of these in New Orleans many years ago. It's late for me, but I still like it.
  6. Ah, thanks. Do we know how many of the alleged releases that appear on the discographies didn't in fact come out?
  7. Steve G, I certainly wasn't casting aspersions on your work...I just feel that I've seen many records listed on Wand discographies that I've never seen any evidence of beyond the discographies. Just Brothers? Earl King "Mama and Papa"? Do these exist?
  8. Wand discographies all seem to be a bit of a mess...
  9. Listed contemporaneously in Billboard...but no other evidence online. https://books.google.com/books?id=P0UEAAAAMBAJ&pg=PA37&lpg=PA37&dq=isley+brothers+110th+and+lenox&source=bl&ots=WSfrRzoLVy&sig=n5SWx7wtUp44JC9fzYCueHv1Yh0&hl=en&sa=X&ei=9QETVYK_LciyggSJ3IKQDQ&ved=0CCoQ6AEwAg#v=onepage&q=isley%20brothers%20110th%20and%20lenox&f=false
  10. I have an unplayed copy for $90 plus shipping from U.S.
  11. Hmm, doesn't sound like Mike Terry to me.
  12. Playlist from last Friday's annual Mardi Gras Hangover edition of Downtown Soulville....Round 2 happens this Friday at 8 (91.1 FM or wfmu.org)! 13. Anyone have a nice clean one for me?
  14. My copy of Harold Andrews is an orange stock copy that plays the same version as Manship's. I'd never heard the slow one till now!
  15. Is "Call Me" different on the Carrie and Jameco releases? How so? (It didn't come out on Mary Jane, as far as I can tell.)
  16. There's a very good (to me, anyway) version of this by the Bernie Lowe Orchestra on a Cameo 45.
  17. Bumpity bump. Nobody has one?
  18. Weingarden replied to a post in a topic in Record Wants
Might have more luck if you looked for Two Sided Thing!
  19. "You Gotta Go" I gotta have. Anyone?
  20. Didn't know about the Hot Cinnamon version. I've been hammering my Joe and George copy. Sounds like it's exactly the same recording. Anyone know what the story is? Does this mean that if I'm DJ'ing at an "OVO" event I should leave my Joe and George at home?
  21. Oh, so I guess if I'm playing at an "OVO" event, I shouldn't bring my Tamboo copy?

Note: Woodward Avenue is currently in the midst of a huge construction project, so take this into account as you plan: https://m-1rail.com/construction/construction-map/ I second the recommendation of the museum. The Diego Rivera Detroit Industry murals are essential, an important piece of the history and culture of Detroit. And the room that they're in sometimes plays host to concerts. I saw Melvin Davis and Pat Lewis there a couple years ago. MW
