Monster Ballads Hiding On B-Sides Of Northern Classics
I've got a red one - if blue copies exist I haven't seen them the tcb is blue my guess is that the group is from Flint - related to Velvettes & the Bar-Bee's on Stepp?

Monster Ballads Hiding On B-Sides Of Northern Classics
it's a different version alright - parts 1 & 2 - same falsetto the second side starts with what Bob Mays calls 'the sexy talking part'

Monster Ballads Hiding On B-Sides Of Northern Classics
Bob, do you know the later red label version of the Mark-keys - 'Heavenly Thing'? I think I prefer that one simply because it's rarer

Debonaires On Solid Hit 102
I don't think brad or jeff have ever had that 'loving you takes up...'( that I can recall) - jeff probably had it years ago, back in the desirable disc days, shifty probably had it on his list for 200 or something jeff will list an occasional beater, but mostly just sells the lower grade stuff to a certain German dealer brad seems to have given up on ebay entirely, can't really blame him

Damn Sam
the two are different mixes( if the same take), the Royalt version has the drums much more prominent on 'Hard Times' - I've had both at once & done an A/B comparison

vivian jones
I for one appreciate the attention!
-
Wally Coco - Message To Society
I have a copy & it certainly works well as a dancefloor record, but it isn't exactly a soulful masterpiece - the way the inst solo breaks are split between the sides always sort of annoyed me too - it would prob work better as a 12 inch frankly
-
Flowers - For Real
I didn't drive home, I keep a manship book under the seat of my car for use in emergency situations in my defense I thought it was a novelty record - that 'Collectors Production' credit threw me

-
Price Please For The Ethics I Want My Baby Back (vent)
this song always reminds me of that 'Chillis Baby Back Ribs' TV ad the one where the kitchen staff all harmonize, "I want my baby back, baby back, baby back, Chilli's baaaaby back ribs..." 'look at me now' is far better anyway

Bob Mayes Record Store
the article in the Detroit Free Press about the store closing appeared yesterday & the store has been extremely busy ever since - Bob has sold off about 4-5000 lps bulk to make some room - 'commons' mostly - but he's not blowing out the 45s to my knowledge, just shifting them back to his house little by little - he's already moved one of his huge wooden 45 shelves from the store to his living room... fyi - Feb 15th should be the closing date. the landlords behavior has been horrible, she literally just walked in and announced that that he had until the end of the month to leave & that the building would be paved over for a parking lot... btb
